New Electric Atmospheric Engine
Wjolcz replied to specialopsdave's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
LF+O propeller engines sound a bit like a waste of fuel, but I would love to see air-augmented rockets in stock. They are more realistic than the RAPIER (AKA SABRE) engine (simply because they already flew). -
Turbine for electrical generation?
Wjolcz replied to THX1138's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Then perhaps you should use RTGs or batteries or both? -
Turbine for electrical generation?
Wjolcz replied to THX1138's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I was actually about to ask what they could be good for, but if weather ever becomes a thing they would be great for electricity generation for bases (if someone didn't want to use the RTG or solar panels for some reason). -
A new type of Kerbal Space Program game?
Wjolcz replied to RYU AZUKU99's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
If I were ever to pay for any KSP sequel it would be Kerbal Aviation Program. Procedural parts + propellers + Earth-sized Kerbin + ability to create races + realistic atmosphere + guns + multiplayer. Basically a mash-up of IL-2 and GTA V with Kerbals and without cars and hand held weapons (+ the ability to build cool stuff of course). -
Tbh, I would rather have an ability to attach new ones (just like in KIS/KAS). That's better than creating them out of thin air (or rather vacuum in this case).

Time for plan B - launching from the ISC
Wjolcz replied to purpleivan's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I like how there are complaints about rocket launching, so you launched another one to land a piece of it somewhere else and go to space with it again. -
[1.2] Kerbal Kommander: a new way to play KSP
Wjolcz replied to gagarinekerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Is it my bad luck or do all of the salvageable ships spawn in retrograde orbits? If that's the case, could you perhaps make like 70-80% of them spawn in prograde orbits instead? It's really hard to get to them. Especially when someone decides to be a ship hunter from the beginning.- 275 replies

[1.2] Kerbal Kommander: a new way to play KSP
Wjolcz replied to gagarinekerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Hey, I have a problem. When I click on the "Begin A Kerbal Kommander Game" and then "yes" nothing happens. Do I need to download the save file from the forum even though I downloaded the mod from CKAN? EDIT: Oooooooh! OK, I got it. You have to do it in a career save.- 275 replies

Is this mod compatible with stock parts only? I can't seem to change the type of fuels when I right-click them.

The tech tree progression is ridiculous
Wjolcz replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I think this one is actually caused by the way the tree is unlocked. Science points make the whole thing work backwards. If, for example, the tree was unlocked with money and time the progression would highly depend on the playstyle of the player. IMO that would allow the player to progress at their own pace, since there's no need to research crap they are not going to use anyway. -
We need Terraforming!
Wjolcz replied to electricpants's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
No, we don't. -
The tech tree progression is ridiculous
Wjolcz replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I'm not saying it should be historical, but instead it should let us choose what we want to do in what order. Right now we have to go through nodes that don't interest us to get to something that is worth researching (from the player's point of view). That's not how it should work. The tree should allow for a certain amount of flexibility, which right now doesn't. The game was at the beginning meant to be sandbox, which implies that there's freedom to what one wants to do and when. The tech tree is the opposite of that. -
The one mission that has always gotten away
Wjolcz replied to Rocket Farmer's topic in KSP1 Discussion
A permanent, self-sustainable (stock ISRU-wise) Laythe base/outpost. I always wanted to have one on the surface with a space station in orbit and an SSTO cycler. Would be great as a Jool moons exploration gateway. I have landed many things many times there (including simple probes with chutes, jet-powered drones and base pieces), but never got to finish it. Always wanted to do that in career, but since that mode allows for limited creativity the plans to complete it are on hold until something sensical is done to the career mode. -

Wjolcz replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Well... if the first capsule you unlock is the inline MK1 cockpit, then I would be cool with that. The planes before rockets is a good approach IMO, but if there was a choice if to start manned or unmanned I would always go unmanned first. -
The tech tree progression is ridiculous
Wjolcz replied to Wjolcz's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Yeah, it does make it special. In a negative way. Nobody said it is. -

And again: this kind of thinking hurts the game most. -
What part/type of creations of KSP do you exploit/know the most about?
Wjolcz replied to Columbia's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Same as OP. I love building and flyin ariplanes. Shame we don't have more launch sites to explore the planet even more. -
Mods in Stock
Wjolcz replied to Choctofliatrio2.0's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Exactly these two. The rest is just extra. Unless you want to play a career mode, which IMO is unbearable without a proper tech tree mod, science-to-cash mod and Strategia (but the last one could be a bit better IMO). That's exactly what I am afraid of. I feel like SQUAD thinks we are too dumb to use these tools, but the truth is if it wasn't for KER I wouldn't be faimiliar with so many rocketry and physics-related terms. Not because I had to learn them, but simply because I wanted to do so. Knowledge makes everything easier. -

I was being sarcastic in the last post. -

Treating it like it's a LEGO rockets with wacky, green creatures inside and nothing more. It doesn't have to make sense. It's wacky. -

What should things sound like?
Wjolcz replied to EnderKid2's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I'd like rockets to sound like, you know, actual rockets. It should sound like a proper popcorn from hell with that characteristic popping sound, not "SHHHHHHHHHHH..." like we have now. -

So does that mean starting manned makes more sense to you than starting unmanned?
