  1. Well yeah. That's why it's the ultimate challenge and all that. But then where would Kermankind be if upon encountering some slight difficulty, such as the fact that the task at hand is impossible, everyone threw their arms up in the air and buggered off to the pub instead?
  2. Ladies and gentlemen, aviators, I have the ultimate aviation challenge for you! Fly an aircraft... ...around the world. Rules: Stock, NovaSilisko, C7, and SundayPunch parts only. And no cheating by editing stuff! Atmospheric craft only, no going into orbit! Maximum allowed altitude: 15 km. Detaching the crew capsule and landing via parachute is allowed, but bonus points are awarded for landing on the Kerbal Space Center runway in a conventional, airplane-like manner. Multiple-stage vehicles are allowed, but doing it with a single-stage craft will guarantee you super-ultra-mega-bonus points and a place in the pages of history. Document your journey with screenshots. They said it was madness. They said it couldn't be done. Prove them wrong!
  3. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you.... The Space Duck You will need: C7 parts NovaSilisko parts Aerospike engine from Assorted Hardware
  4. Alt+Enter to switch to windowed mode and back supposedly fixes that, but I've never tried, I just play in a window as well.
  5. Yep, welcome. Pro tip: Pressing F1 takes a screenshot.
  6. That's what I'm thinking. Kamikaze is all well and good, but a true master would shoot the target down with a missile launched from his own craft.
  7. Apparently, there is a limit of 20 attachments per post. Continued.
  8. Ladies and gentlemen, I have done it. 8) Edit: Feast your eyes on our intrepid trio's epic and not at all easy journey of discovery! Big thanks to Foamy and Akiraa from the IRC for some timely advice.
  9. Funny, I can land with my eyes closed, but I'm getting my butt kicked by the damn re-entry.
  10. Simpler solution: Stay attached to the retro rocket and jettison when only a few thousand meters above sea level. I think mine keeps exploding not because of excessive load on the wings but because it starts rotating too fast and the parts collide with each other. Remaining attached to the large bulk of the rocket prevents it from tumbling and allows for a safe re-entry. In other news, landed on the dark side. Now attempting the return leg.
  11. Actually my plane keeps disintegrating at around 20 km, way below the current atmosphere cutoff.
  12. Well that has its own set of problems, doesn't it? Every time I come screaming down from orbit in a big ball of fire, I can't help but notice that the landing zone I'd selected from orbit is horribly mountainous and uneven. So even if I did manage to bring the plane down without it disintegrating during re-entry, I'd still have a huge problem landing the damn thing.
  13. Just a little in-joke those not in the herd won't get. Also, I'd like to say my fail was entirely due to pilot error, the ship is more than capable of achieving this feat. I'll try again tomorrow.
  14. I went, and I failed! Much like Top Gear, I am ambitious but rubbish. A few seconds after the last picture was taken, my plane lost a wing during re-entry and tumbled helplessly into the side of a mountain.
