  1. I think the first clue before making names is the think about the history of who named them, where did they draw there inspiration So the first thing I would do would be create a believable mythology, then work from there.
  2. C:\Program Files (x86)\DCI\DCISTDPINT
  3. Well, 6 years is a LONG time in politics, we could be great friends again by then. Russia might not even exist as we know it by then.
  4. For me personally I kinda stretched the definition of Soaps, for that one. I haven't watched daytime soaps in a long long time, but I do watch and get emotionally involved with things like Glee and Teen Wolf, they're pretty close but not true serials. And Babylon 5 fits every definition of soap opera. Well I kinda meant that to be understood, I would get really creeped out if a stranger hugged me without permission, (they may get pepper spray) but if I even sligthly count you as friend then yeah we can hug. Don't mind boy hugs, as long as they aren't thinking it will get them something more, trying to cop a feel, or just using the hug to touch a girl. So yeah not to common is that.
  5. In my headspace I don't assume Kerbals are idiots, in face it really lessens my enjoyment of the game every time I see things like "kept wiping it off the lens like dust" So to me the moons of Jool were discovered hundreds of years ago when Jebileo Kerman improved the telescope used for spotting ships at sea and pointed it at Jool. What he saw there he realized were moons, totally remaking Kerbal science forever. He named them Laythe, Vall, and Tylo after the children of Jool in Eastern mythology. He went on to confirm the phases of Minimus and Eve. Laythe: the oldest daughter of Jool was a goddess of winds and consort of Eve. She and her sister Vall were worshiped by ancient sailors. Vall: the goddess of the oceans, modern information has lead many to suggest that it's name should be switched with Laythe due to Jebileo's inability to see the true nature of these moons with his primitive telescopes, however many oppose this as to not degrade the memory of Jebileo and the names are so deeply ingrained to almost be impossible now. Tylo: the youngest son of Jool, god of crafts. Worshiped by builders and workers of metal. Further scientists pointed their telescopes at Jool and other points in the sky for the chance to name a celestial body. Bop: Due to the lack of remaining children of Jool, the discoverer of Bop named it after the spirit of hidden springs worshiped by the ancient people from his western desert region. Pol: Pol was the spirit of plants in the mythology of the western desert, the ancient peoples of those lands saw this spirit as both helpful and tricky as many plants in their region carry harsh poisons.
  6. That still gives us 6 years to get SpaceX human rated, Orion will be ready by then. ISS is already scheduled to be decommissioned around then and the Russian sections moved to a new Russian station, so I'm not sure where this effects anything.
  7. <fighting words> This is why I'm glad he went to star wars, He admited he never liked Star Trek before he took over, too much science in it in his eyes. Star Wars will be a better fit for him, it was never science fiction anyways, it's always been Fantasy in space. </fighting words>
  8. Except it's really not. Yes the space station is traveling 17,100 mph, but so are you, so they cancel out we ignore them. The rotating section is rotating at between 7-8 RPM for mars gravity. For an enterance with a 2 ft radius, that's less than a mile an hour. The train is traveling at 50MPH. It really is like hopping on a spinning merry go round.
  9. I know this is WAY back in your thread but you hit upon the answer to the question way back in your post. You're talking about altering the microbes wouldn't give you true results. But at the same time you're missing that your experiment is talking about altering mars or Europa thus you'll never again get true results about those bodies. It's not a naturalistic thing about "keeping things where it belongs" it's about contamination harming other studies. You found the problem yourself you just didn't look wide enough.
  10. I agree with you on everything else but this one, I have to disagree on. Now don't get me wrong, when done badly it's bad, but that's just executuion. science fiction without exploring the human condition is just fluff. Science fiction has ALWAYS been about the author's beliefs, Frankenstein was all about Mary Shelly's thoughts on science pushing the boundaries of what should be the domain of god. Well's Time Machine was about capitalism, while his War of the Worlds was about colonization and the British empire. Star Trek was highly political, and important to shaping the world we live in today. I really can't think of any GOOD science fiction without ideas. When it's not there it's just the scifi drek pushed out for a quick but, and I don't think that's what you're after.
  11. Wish everyone had posted the %s we could really compile some interesting data from everyone's preferences.
  12. What's the line that divides a INTJ from a INFP on the hugs. I LURVE!!!! hugs.
  13. Isn't the graveyard orbit above Geostationary, thus all non functional comm satellites are being slowly flung away?
  14. I've made several, landing them in one piece is another story.
  15. I wish you'd work with this guy http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/71685-Most-Detailed-Kerbal-Border-Map-in-History And make some sort of unified map everyone could agree on. I hate having competing maps.
  16. INFP Introvert(22%) iNtuitive(50%) Feeling(62%) Perceiving(39%) Guess that's why I spend my days playing video games rather than classical feminine activities. I'm not surprised that I'm more Introvert than Extrovert, same with feeling and perceiving, I am surprised the N and S aren't more balanced though.
  17. You want me to search before posting... Do I have peasants for that? what? no peasants? Oh Ok, I'll have to get some of those.
  18. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18007564-the-martian I'm currently reading this book, just finished Chapter 3. Manned Mission to Mars need to abort, one of the crewmembers is lost in a dust storm and presumed dead. He barely survives but is stranded, but how is he going to survive 4 years still a rescue. I am loving it. It's full of math and science, details about survival on mars, I think it would really appeal to people here.
  19. Except for the fact that on every other OS is going to REQUIRE you to use their equivalent of AppData. OS's built with security from the ground up don't let you get away with nonsense. There is no reason the average user should be running anything as Admin except an installer, and no reason anyone should ever be running a game as admin, especially one that has arbitrary code you downloaded from strangers on a forum.
  20. Oh well, darn, I like searched to see if anyone else had before I did all that, didn't find it. The one you linked there, does not mark the strange extra node on the tug as impassable, and makes the small size docking ports passable, which is debatable, they look too small by observation, but the flavor text describes them as passable "without a helmet" The KSO docking ports are problematic all the KSO docking ports are declared size1 so they link up to each other and stock docking ports regardless of size or appearance.
  21. Ok, thanks... Strangely that's not even the part that's not working that one is..... It's the ssport1kso and ssport2kso that are the docking ports.
  22. I made a config for these part for Connected Living Space @PART[KSO_Cabin]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true impassablenodes = top , avio , gear } } @PART[cgholdkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true impassablenodes = bottom04 , bottom05 , bottom06 , bottom07 } } @PART[dockingkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true impassablenodes = bottom } @PART[dockstandardkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ss2pointextkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ss3pointhubkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ss4pointhubkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ss6pointhubkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ssauxfuelkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[KSO_Observation]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true impassablenodes = bottom } } @PART[KSO_DockingModule]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[KSO_Habitat]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[KSO_Hydroponics]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[KSO_KerbaLab]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ssport1kso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ssport2kso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[sspowerkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[KSO_SST]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true impassablenodes = bottom } } Took me a bit to fight around those weird nodes since they aren't labeled in the configs... bottom, bottom01, bottom02, bottom03... not the most descriptive Anyways if you use the cfg, I couldn't get the docking ports working.
  23. I did a config for KSO shuttle @PART[KSO_Cabin]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true impassablenodes = top , avio , gear } } @PART[cgholdkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true impassablenodes = bottom04 , bottom05 , bottom06 , bottom07 } } @PART[dockingkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true impassablenodes = bottom } @PART[dockstandardkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ss2pointextkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ss3pointhubkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ss4pointhubkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ss6pointhubkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ssauxfuelkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[KSO_Observation]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true impassablenodes = bottom } } @PART[KSO_DockingModule]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[KSO_Habitat]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[KSO_Hydroponics]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[KSO_KerbaLab]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ssport1kso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[ssport2kso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[sspowerkso]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true } } @PART[KSO_SST]:HAS[!MODULE[ModuleConnectedLivingSpace]] { MODULE { name = ModuleConnectedLivingSpace passable = true impassablenodes = bottom } } However, the docking ports don't seem to work.
