Don't get me wrong. I totally understand WHY people would want it back. Why they want to see it, or even touch it. What I do not understand is why those same people want to spend/waste millions to do so. Those same millions could be better used to make even bigger breakthroughs. In the end it always comes down to money. And space exploration is already on a very tight budget. If bringing Hubble home leads to scientific breakthroughs or if you can recuperate the costs by all means, bring her home. If not, let her go down in a final 'blaze of glory'.

If we REALLY wanted to recover it I am sure we would find a way. But what's the point? Once back on earth it's just a relic. You could scrap it and recover some resources from it but bringing it back would have cost more to begin with. All you can do with it is display it. Is it really worth that much?

Only things I remap ASAP is the rover controls to IJKL. As a result of this remap any Kerbal in a command seat will have its helmel light toggled each time you turn right so I remap that to the default light key .

1.1 is seriously bugged, but comes it as a surprise...
Tex_NL replied to Temeter's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This is one of those things that puts huge question marks next to Squads behaviour. Why on earth post this on Reddit? THIS is your forum! THIS is the place you should post news first! NOT through third party media! -
1.1 is seriously bugged, but comes it as a surprise...
Tex_NL replied to Temeter's topic in KSP1 Discussion
To re-cap: Squad can neither deny nor confirm it. Confirming it would basically mean a suicide. Denying it would only strengthen suspicion and create conspiracy theories. All they can do is ignore it. -

Exactly. And when they eventually return from their two weeks leave most people have already vented their anger, mod makers patched the worst of the leaks and Squad washes its hands in innocence and toddles along to the next mud hole. Much better to first take your leave and reflect on what's been done so far. With a well rested mind you can then take another look and only then go for release and be present when trouble does arise -
Ah, OK. That explains. I misunderstood. I thought you wanted to use MP to control two craft at the same time yourself.
-
Since you have only one brain, one pair of hands, one keyboard and one mouse you'll still be effectively controlling only one 'craft' at any one time. How is your idea different from the current method of switching between 'craft'? Sure, multiplayer would be a great addition to KSP but it can only ever really function on small scale with only a hand full of players connected. With too many people connected getting consensus on time warp will be impossible. All time warp decisions must be unanimous. But adding multiplayer now is a waste of time and resources. Get the game finished first, then add fancy features like multiplayer. In order to run first you must learn to walk. Currently KSP is still crawling.

Saying you should accept the fact a turd stinks doesn't change the smell. It's still a turd and it still stinks. -
Something like this perhaps?

Tex_NL replied to Temeter's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The accusations might be true, or they might be false. I don't know and to be honest I don't really care. Too many questionable decisions caused me to loose faith a long time ago. But one can't deny the simple fact the accusations do fit very well with what has, and what has not, been happening over the last few years. And I also understand SQUAD's lack of a solid reply. They can neither confirm or deny what has been said. Confirming it would basically mean suicide. Denying it (or locking this thread without a reply) would only confirm suspicions and provoke conspiracy theories. Only thing they can do is ignore it, muddle along and hope it will pass. -
Science does not necessarily need to be proven, it can also be dis-proven. What is of paramount importance in science is that it is repeatable. And Russels teapot might not be a valid scientific theory. It is definitely a valid philosophical one. You could even call it theological. Both view points are true until you can proof one or the other. On the other hand, 'Schrödinger's cat' is considered a valid theory. And this too is based on the uncertainty between two states.

Hilarious scam email: Nigerian astronaut stranded in space
Tex_NL replied to RainDreamer's topic in The Lounge
If you fall for a scam like this you deserve it! Apart from the obvious clues like the time in space there is another dead give-away: It would have been cheaper to bring him home instead of sending supplies for all those years.- 53 replies

They're only doing this because of Star Wars day. May (the) 4th (be with you). If it would have been Star Trek day they would have done the same thing with Trek planets.
-
I know this one slightly different: Duct tape is like the force. It has a dark side and a light side and hold the universe together. Completely forgot about StarWars day today. Probably because May 4th has a different meaning in the Netherlands. Tonight at 20:00 the whole country will be silent for 2 minutes to remember the casualties of WW2. Tomorrow, May 5th we celebrate our freedom and the end of WW2.

It SHOULD take you to the oldest new post in that thread since your last visit. Unfortunately this is not always the case. Especially in threads with a lot of images it does indeed take you to the correct post for a fraction of a second. But then it starts to load the images, pushing the new post way, way down. Sometimes it pushes the new post more than 10 posts down. Very annoying. And even more annoying that I mentioned this about half a year ago and nothing has been down about it.
-
At the same time post a list of installed mods. I've seen something similar not too long ago. If I remember correctly it had something to do with a mod.

Charging people for updates will destroy a lot of goodwill. Each and every update solves a few bugs but introduces several new ones. And on occasion a few old ones as well. People will not accept paying for buggy software over and over again. If an update would absolutely guaranteed fix ALL bugs and ALL memory issues I might be willing to pay a few bucks for it. And I emphasize 'a few', not nearly close to the current full prize. If I would have to pay full prize again I'd rather go pirate.

Funny, but true. Unfortunately true in more places and for more games than most would like to admit.

Patcher doesn't seem to be working

Absolutely correct. It makes one wonder why that piece of dog faeces is still part of the game. Easiest and quickest solution is to simply get rid of it. -
How to make a double decker?
Tex_NL replied to Gregory TheGamer's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
OK, you're correct. I checked and indeed the Mk3 won't attach radially. (I've always used EdTools. With that mod everything can be attached radially.) But what's keeping you from attaching the normal way? Enable clipping through the [Alt] + [F12] menu and keep on building. -

Tex_NL replied to Gregory TheGamer's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
That's actually incredibly easy. Radially attach. Then use the rotate and translate tools to move it to the correct place and orientation. -
What is your biggest science pet peeve in movies?
Tex_NL replied to todofwar's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Sure, that would change the perspective. But it does not magically change the rotation. A nice example is the game Mass Effect 2. All planets rotated clockwise, even earth. The continents on earth are so recognizable there is absolutely no mistake possible. On that earth the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. That's just Wrong! -
What is your biggest science pet peeve in movies?
Tex_NL replied to todofwar's topic in Science & Spaceflight
One thing that never ceases to annoy me is not limited to movies. TV series, games, hell ... even Discovery Channel science documentaries get it wrong all the time. Planet rotation. Everybody with even the most basic schooling should know earth rotates counter clockwise just like all the other planets. Like earth all planets orbit the sun counter clockwise. All moons also rotate and orbit counter clockwise. There are of course a few minor exceptions like Neptunes moon Triton but you get the picture by now. Everything rotates counter clockwise. Even our galaxy does. Is it REALLY that hard to make your fragging CG animations rotate correctly? And I am looking especially at you Discovery Channel. One shot a galaxy or black hole rotates clockwise, next shot it rotates counter clockwise like it should. Only to be followed by yet another clockwise rotation. And they call that a science channel. More like a science failure.
