Will 1.1 be the stability update that KSP needed?
KerbMav replied to JonatanW's topic in KSP1 Discussion
*chuckle* -
*sigh* But Kasper, can you not READ? @marach has all the knowledge! /sarcasm

Business. Money. Contracts. Deals. (And yes, they kind of would have to, for sure.) Squad is not the owner of Steam, so they do have no say in how Steam is to treat customers. If Steam only agrees to accept customers into their service (providing the download and updates for KSP) - customers that did not buy the game of Steam, did not leave money in their pocket, that is - up to a certain point/quantity, there is nothing Squad can do. Squad could generate keys all day long, as long as these are not validated by Steam, it would not do anything.

Should we start saving up science for next update?
KerbMav replied to MagicFireCaster's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yeah, it is really sad we can only pump out rant posts that fast - being just humans after all! -
The community is not dead, just some choose to feel that way. Squad is not splitting the community, just some decide to feel singled out. Because of two weeks ... two weeks! I cannot even begin to think of anything to say to this ... well, just this. And I fear if I would come up with the right words to aptly express myself right now, I would gather more infractions than every user before combined. Yes, they would, basic human psychology.

My right arm did some spookiness not too long ago!
KerbMav replied to Souper's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I manage to have this from time to time. For me it can be enough to have my arm(s) lying above my head while sleeping on my back. Somehow the blood stream gets compromised and I loose all feeling and control in/of it. Letting it hang down the side of the bed or putting it on my warm stomach is enough to get it going again. As long as it does not happen for seemingly no reason, but only in certain situations, I would not fear about neurological problems.- 11 replies

On the first attempt I totally overlooked the whole issue of horizontal speed - did not work well. Then I stumbled a few times over the necessary efficiency and timing of my burns before I could go on and not bring oceans of fuel on my missions.

You get a bonus for processing experiments from a certain SOI in said SOI and another bonus for being landed. Landed on Kerbin penalizes this heavily, so combinded with the overall lower values for experiments done on Kerbin, even the boni - which still apply - do not result in high numbers for a lab at KSC. I think it is a bit older than 1.0.5 - if I remember correctly it was always that way since they changed the function of the lab from boosting transmision rewards to processing data. It depends on what you want to do. If the fun for you is filling out the tech tree and launching a nuclear wessel (sic!) to Eeloo as fast as possible (real time like), than your approach is certainly the best. Others find fun in going slow and enjoying the low tech solutions a bit longer, experimenting with different approaches to the game. It is human to get a bit defensive regarding the own perspective when facing bewilderment about it and it is also human to get a bit offended when meeting with defensiveness. Maybe we should stay a bit kerbal here? I am quite often doing the same thing. I lower my science gain in the difficulty settings to make the lab worthwhile too. In already two saves I took a rover with all available experiments and did them all twice, including EVA and surface samples (both available for Kerbals in external seats, missed out on crew reports here ), next to each building at KSC and the nearby biomes (including the exploitive patch of tundra north of KSC ). But, I use ShipManifest, a mod that allows you to move crew, fuel, science and the like from some windows instead of clicking around your craft. *confession smilie*

One question remains, what about the decades of canon? J.J. jumbled it quite a bit, sometimes a bit more than I would like, but he gets his alternative reality bonus. Yet why should we call something Star Trek if we through everything out of the window? A question I asked myself after watching the second X-Files movie, it was a text book crime thriller, but somehow I expect something different from an X-Files movie. Had an episode of the TV show been that mundane it would have been original, but in a movie I expect something more to the core/spirit of a franchise's basic idea. If the world only was that easy.

Whenever I visit this thread I have to switch off my bad habits from browsing and commenting on Imgur ...

My mind made up a totally inappropriate story ... Belated happy birthday - should I be in Finland next year I will give you a call.

Actually one Borg episode/two-parter per show is OK in my book. I liked that they came back to First Contact in ST:ENT - I think TOS and DS9 (apart from Sisko's flashbacks) are the only ones not showing them.

Solar Panels Wobbling Ship Apart.
KerbMav replied to Bob Jub's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Aha?! Good to know. -
Regardless what the so called experts keep telling us, growth is not everything and certainly not the all holy goal of everything. If a company stagnates, the only thing that is happening is, that it is able to pay its employees and keep in business. Constant increase in turnovers and profits are only relevant when dealing with investors and/or shareholders, who are the only ones interested in an ever growing anything, because they are the only ones really profitting from it. Stagnation means you are doing fine, you are surviving, it is not a bad thing. Squad has not made any statement regarding future projects or investments - and they will not, ever - for several reasons. Foremost they do not have to involve the public in their business, not least because they are independent, which means that they are free in their own decisions, without any obligation of justification to anyone. Also the forums would burn once more if they announced to be working on anything else than completing the next 99 versions of KSP. The team has been fluctuating, but they also kept hiring new people. Unity is bound to stay, switching to a completely different engine would basically mean making KSP 2 - which would require more than fancy new graphics and a higher part count to make current players buy another title. KSP is being ported to other platforms, merchandise deals are signed left and right ... what kind of bigger, higher, faster expansion are you expecting anyway?

You are asking to verify what you suppose to be right, and you seem to be willing to accept new information to be correct even if it is contrary to your previous perceived truth. You are doing way better then them. "I'm terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought" Using google is dangerous - especially if carelessly clicking on the next best result - when entering the search terms the trouble already starts.

Oh, that is what this poll is about?! I have not seen the movie yet. Thought is what like Team-Jacob/-Edward and picked the hot one. Now to get popcorn and watch.

I like your completely non-physics approach to the question.

Back in my day ... I used it to establish my first RemoteTech network - now that it has no SAS anymore though ... this does not work as well at all. It is still good for early science collection, although attaching a parachute is tricky/cheaty.

If (insert any country)'s government were not ridiculously married to the financial and industrial sectors, the tax money available would get them more for less. Public funds are spent with no immediate results, the companies have the money and then take their time. Budgets are frantically spent at the end of the year to receive at least the same sum in the next year. Overpriced medicinal drugs are pushed to the market without appropriate testing, creating even more expenses for social services, health insurances and the citizens themselves. Not to mention the fear of less donations during the next elections, no overpaid "jobs" after there political career etc. Just think about the fact that a private company can develop rocket technology far cheaper than a public entity and you are beginning to see where the problem starts.

Assimilation by injecting Borg nano-probes and further surgical alteration makes use of already available infrastructure - it also fits their idea of perfecting themselves and others. The need for life-support etc. simply is a necessity to complete this goal, and therefore not seen as inefficient. "Seven of nine, tertiary adjunct of unimatrix zero-one" - the Borg designations let me assume that the drones are allocated specific functions, not like a command structure but a communication hierarchy, delegating command decisions down to the individual (ha!) drone. Every Borg is aware of all information available, decisions are made collectively - but not every information is available to every drone as soon as it is discovered, that is why disconnecting a Borg cube infected with malware was possible without spreading to other parts of the collective. So, what would be a squad leader in a military organization, in case of the Borg is something like a communication node/relay, exchanging information with a higher layer, receiving new orders/instructions and sharing them with the members of its own layer/group/department. The captain/queen of a Borg cube being a highly advanced, upgraded and specialized (resources are never limitless) part of the collective gathering all information available to a crew/cube in a single mind/brain, enabled and authorized to make wide reaching decisions, even if not in contact to the ... queen of all queens/queen mother/empress/MCP?

Since we are breathing new wind into this older thread: Any chance to get a newer Android version for my Galasy S3 or is it hopelessly out of date for that?

Depends on where you are looking? https://trademarks.justia.com/864/97/squad-86497655.html "Party Name MONKEY SQUAD, S.A. DE C.V. Goods and Services: Children's educational software; Computer game software; Downloadable educational course materials in the field of science, geography and astronomy; Educational software featuring instruction in science, geography and astronomy; Video and computer game programs" Nevertheless, I imagine that founding a new company is time and money consuming; telling someone in your employment to use a budget to create a new division and fund something different from what your company usually does seems a lot easier?

So, should we speculate if any of taniwha's mod projects will somehow find its way into the stock game - or influence parts of the stock game in any way?

Ah well ... maybe release the new antennas with standard functionality anyway?
