Engines not gimballing
Superfluous J replied to dlrk's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Does it do this when you fly it manually? Does the engine gimbal? I'm on my phone so the video is tiny but it didn't look like it. Also I see no other control surfaces. Also the center of mass looks a bit low. It may be just responding to aerodynamics the same way a dart thrown backwards would. Speaking of darts thrown backwards, unless one of your mods makes fairings invisible that rocket has a LOT of drag. -
Setting points of interest
Superfluous J replied to Reinhart Mk.1's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
My preferred mod option for this is Waypoint Manager. As a bonus, it lets you see waypoints in flight mode so you don't have to keep going back and forth to map mode to see how close you are to a waypoint. -
Assign maneuvers before undocking
Superfluous J replied to Hangdog's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I do. The ship that has the node will always be the one you don't want to have the node. -
Based solely on a one-word update to a bug report I filed months ago, I'm now guessing 1.8 is going to totally revamp science. No, but I think something is changing, as my bug is now listed as "Moot." not fixed. Moot. https://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/issues/20887

Docking target symbol
Superfluous J replied to vossiewulf's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
No that's alt-tab, to something that looks boring yet productive. For KSP, Alt-F4 is many people's (including my) preferred method of exiting the game merely because telling the game I want to quit 4 times, each time waiting for a screen to load, is annoying after 6 years. And your cat seems to really like F4. -
Why? 1.4 March 2018 1.5 October 2018 1.6 December 2018 1.7 April 2019 Based on last summer you can expect 1.9 in November. Based on the average of the last 3 gaps, you could expect it in August, this month. The only way you could have expected it earlier was to see the 2-month gap between 1.5 and 1.6 and thought that was the norm, which it clearly is not.

Well they did 2 mods I considered required, and don't even use anymore (KER and PreciseNode) so the obvious new feature would be something like KAC.

Funniest loading screen slpash sentences
Superfluous J replied to Moustachauve's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I had a contract pack that never worked called "Parts Unlimited." and one of the loading screen texts (that I literally never saw grr) was "Parting parts parts apart from other parts' parts." -
totm march 2020 So what song is stuck in your head today?
Superfluous J replied to SmileyTRex's topic in The Lounge
It's on repeat. I can't stop it. -
That there are far too many times in the day where I have to do something other than play.

Haha I was just perusing Rational Resources to see if it was a better fit for what I wanted. It was weird to be reading one of your posts as the alert came up that you'd replied to one of mine. I'm hoping to make this a bit more general than for a specific save, ideally have something I can release as a resource pack. I'll poke through the Simplex thread as well, my ideas may end up being quite similar to his from what I remember of it. I wish there was a cheat menu option for "Just show me the actual resource distributions on this world for real. I don't care that I'm cheating that's why I'm in the cheat menu." If such a display exists please point me at it
-
Hmm maybe that's why they look so similar, but it implies they're different from biome to biome in the same way though I suppose at that level there are only two ways the biomes can be different from each other, they can have more, or less than their neighbor. Is there an easy way to show the true global distribution? I was just using the big scanner. I will slap the pinpoint scanner on it tonight and verify that the concentrations vary more wildly there.

I don't know about "short flight" but "You're not going to space today" was pretty popular for a long time. There was even a thread about it.

What kind of Movie or GIF editing software do you use?
Superfluous J replied to xendelaar's topic in The Lounge
Back when I did it, I got in the habit of noticing when something interesting was going to happen and then recording just that thing. You end up with dozens (or hundreds) of little film clips which can be annoying (and take a long time to edit) but if you're cool with importing all your screen shots, you should try it And you'll quickly find that by being judicious during playing makes editing far easier, as you'll have less to cut out. -
I've just started playing with resources. I'm not using any pre-made resource packs and am playing with my own. I've got the resources to spawn. I can see them with a scanner. So I've figured out that much. However, they all seem to spawn in one of two variations, that are basically inverses of each other. If I have 2 resources, there's about a 50/50 chance they're in the exact same spots (with different abundances but the maps look the same) or in exactly opposite spots. If I have 3 resources, it seems that 2 of them are always in exactly the same spots on a world. I poked through the CRP configs (but didn't install it, and sadly can't tonight) and I don't see anything in them that ... I don't even know what it would do. Set a seed per resource or something? Anyway, I'm wondering if anybody knows how CRP - or any resource pack - avoids this isssue. Or, do they have it and everybody just accepts it?

Yeah I found for adding a lot of text subtitles is the way to go. I only use the text overlays for titles, and when I want the text to animate in some way. -
First, thank you Second, I'm a big fan of the Caveman Challenge. It's one of the few challenges I've done more than once.

Which DLC, if any, do you like the most?

If I can count Missing History as part of Making History, probably that. But if not, Breaking Ground.- 23 replies

Well it was just added, in whatever version they added the ability to remove helmets. Like, 1.7.0?
-
Yes. You can find their tolerance by putting one without a helmet in a command chair and launching upward. When he goes poof you know you went too far. Or successfully discovered the limit, depending on your point of view.

How do I move the stock Toolbar?
Superfluous J replied to dognosh's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I could be wrong, but as far as I know there has never been a mod that has touched the stock toolbar's location. -
Rocket keeps spinning ... ROLL
Superfluous J replied to MadMate's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Are you using auto struts on those boosters? Also, tri-lateral (six as well) symmetry has issues because of mathematical rounding. Struts (of either variety) should take care of it though. Also, you have way too many boosters. While fun, it can exacerbate a problem like this. -
What kind of Movie or GIF editing software do you use?
Superfluous J replied to xendelaar's topic in The Lounge
I use VideoPad. It's powerful enough for my needs and rather inexpensive, and the demo is almost full featured. No watermarks or time limits, just some things when you try to use them, it says you need the full version (Annoying but you can in all cases just not use that thing). The only thing that I ever wanted to use but couldn't was transitions between scenes. They allwowed simple ones like fades but not more complex ones like swipes or page turns etc. Pretty much every video I made in the past couple years up to April of this year, I made with VideoPad's demo. Then I bought the home version on sale for $50 (Normally $70 I think). -

I didn't test it in 1.7.3. But I've been using it.
