Kerbal Space Program update 1.3 Grand Discussion thread.
Superfluous J replied to UomoCapra's topic in KSP1 Discussion
And in the Tier 0 runway Great job guys. I didn't participate in the Beta for this as I've been mostly Kerbidle for a few months, but it's great to see this come out. It piques my interest a bit and makes me wonder if it's time to start a new career... From what I recall (which may be wrong) the parts are in the upcoming DLC.- 465 replies

I'd assume that just like every other feature that's been added or modified since about 0.90, there'd be a toggle for it in options. EDIT: But if you want the "boring gameplay" it's not that hard (compared to the rest of this request) to make Kerbals count as the best photographic equipment available. Personally, I like the idea of needing to take better cameras (or Kerbals) to places but I don't want to have to actively do things. The maps should make themselves. Like how Kerbals take science samples themselves.* *Note Kerbals do not actually take science samples themselves. They just SHOULD.

I have no specific plans, but if I can I'll probably catch it while it passes through Kentucky.

Valve employed Squad or part of the team?
Superfluous J replied to Nils277's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Because thy don't have time machines. If you eat breakfast, and someone tells you they hope you have a nice lunch, do you think "Why don't they tell me to have a nice breakfast!"? -
It never occurred to me to worry that such talented people would NOT find a job somewhere, especially when their leaving was of their own volition and - from all those whom I've read at least - on good or at least neutral terms with Squad. That said, I'm happy as all get out that we'll see more from them in the future.

Deadly Reentry is a favorite of the hardcore crowd. For your button woes, look into Blizzy's Toolbar. Many mods support it and it does a better job than stock of organizing, displaying, and (most importantly when you have too many) hiding buttons you don't need.

Which Period Of A Career Game To You Enjoy The Most?
Superfluous J replied to The Flying Kerbal's topic in KSP1 Discussion
My favorite is probably right when I'm going interplanetary. If you set the science gains just right and don't try to cull every last drop of science points from everywhere, it can be quite fun planning an interplanetary mission with mostly 1.25m parts. -
You may want to refresh CKAN, there may be one or two mods you haven't installed yet...

The "Complain About Your School" Thread
Superfluous J replied to TotallyNotHuman's topic in The Lounge
My high school is so 80s. At least, it was last time I was there. In the 80s. -
I haven't even loaded the game in about a month.

Mining assistance
Superfluous J replied to Scarecrow's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Also, it most assuredly does work on rails while you're away flying other missions. I land miners all the time, then go away for in-game days, weeks, or months and when I come back, they're always full. -
If you do want to wean yourself off of the cheats I suggest you try this: Write down all the cheats you commonly use, and then pick one of them at random and ban yourself from doing it. Keep playing until you can do it without that cheat at all, and then pick another one. Repeat until your list is empty or you realize you're having more fun doing it the old way. I cheat a lot too. I've never done a land-and-return mission to Eve that didn't first involve teleporting the ship to Eve first to test every single aspect of the mission. I also have been known to turn on infinite fuel if I'm close but run out at the last moments. Or infinite electricity on my probe when I realize halfway to Minmus that I forgot the solar panel.

NO Plug in the Wall, NO KSP?
Superfluous J replied to Castille7's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Sounds like your laptop is going into some sort of power save mode. -
No they can't, for similar reasons that Mechjeb can't package KSP into its download: They don't own it. They could put an autopilot into the expansion, but no, they won't. Maybe in a future one. That you'll possibly have to pay for, but maybe not who knows.

Bring Back the Barn!
Superfluous J replied to pallyme's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
At least those that would be enraged that Squad spent so much time on something that they'd almost never see (destructible buildings anyone?) were spared. -
Bring Back the Barn!
Superfluous J replied to pallyme's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
1 Take the collect science contract, go out on the launch pad, collect all the science you can at this stage, unlock a fuel tank and engine, take the launch and space contracts, launch your oribt-capable ship into suborbital, get to space, hop back to Mission control and take the orbit contract, then reach orbit. Most every stock career I've done has started this way, though sometimes I do the "first launch" to mix it up. -
Bring Back the Barn!
Superfluous J replied to pallyme's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Also as an aside, I personally get as annoyed by the "there is no difference between realism and fun" as those who purport that are annoyed by the "do you want realistic or do you want fun?" people. Here's why. They are different, but there are situations where one is true and the other is false. A mechanic can be realistic and fun. Great. It should probably be in the game. Example: most of the orbital mechanics stuff. A mechanic can be neither realistic nor fun. Okay, this should probably not be in the game. KSP doesn't have anything that I'd put solidly in this list but many think contracts fall into this category. A mechanic can be realistic, but not fun. These should not be in the game, in my opinion. An example of this for me personally is life support. I'd have put remote control of probes (and the possibility of loss of connection) on this list but the stock implementation of this is pretty good and it changed my mind. A mechanic can be fun, but not realistic. These are a grey area, in my opinion. I actually like the "Found by the side of the road" mentions and find the 1/10th solar system more fun than the more realistic ones that you can mod into the game. I don't actually know where I'm going with this, but I'm just sick of the "everything can be perfectly realistic yet still be fun" comments because that's simply not true. It's as untrue as the "you can't have any realism at all or you'll ruin the fun" comments. There is a grey area. Squad chooses where in that grey area to put the game, and stating your opinion about where they should put it is fine. However, vitriol (and I'm using that term because the forum will edit out what I want to use) about #lolsokerbal and the "toy solar system" are not. If you don't want a toy, stop playing a video game and go work for NASA. -

No it doesn't, which is why they're not coming back. -
Bring Back the Barn!
Superfluous J replied to pallyme's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Sometimes I wonder if the whole "Screw it. The next version is 1.0 and we're all quitting" thing was a reaction to the vitriol that was ever-present on the forums around this time. -
What new part do you want?
Superfluous J replied to Ferdoni's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Most of what I want any more is stuff to be procedurally generated. I really dislike that there are 4 of each fuel tank of each radius, cluttering up the parts list. I should be able to put a fuel tank on the ship and then drag it out to the size I want. But in the spirit of the OP, I'd say a radial probe core would be nice, as would a mk2 size SRB. -
Does Disabling Part Clipping Matter Anymore?
Superfluous J replied to ZooNamedGames's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Watch out. It's disabled by default for a reason.
