[1.1.2] Kerbal Inventory System (KIS) 1.2.12
Superfluous J replied to KospY's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
And if a non-engineer could do it without a wrench that would be awesome. -
I've tried similar in the past but never got them even close to balanced.
-
Do I have to do everything?* Those coordinates on Eve are roughly 20N, 20E. KSP renders icons through planets, though, so it COULD be somewhere around 30N, 110W which is (within the error inherent in guesstimating on a tiny globe) close enough to 31.01°N 291.64°E if you mark E/W and don't count E all the way up to 360. But there's no way to know for sure and that seems a mean way to do it. Maybe they did the whole thing, planning for that, and then realized it was on the dark side of the planet *Note: I have not done everything, or much of anything.

Small square wing? Anyone?
Superfluous J replied to bartekkru99's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I want a single wing part that I can drag out to be a wing, using a similar mechanism to what they have in place for fairings. Wings, like fairings, can be "special" and be the only things procedurally generated. I don't *need* procedural fuel tanks (though I'd prefer them) but making wings out of patchwork pieces and needing to strut them together to keep them from wobbling about independently of each other is not right, and making more (and smaller) pieces is not the answer. -
For me it's a mad rush to finish what I started, which usually fails and I end up playing the old version a few days/weeks into when the new version comes out. Or I upgrade and then everything tends to go to pot.
-
regex hates that, too.
-
You at LEAST get half the credit for that one. More like 90% IMO. Very well done there.

Facts: Because mission time = total time, it's a sandbox save, first launch. Eve is the 2nd planet. The're using Earth time, not Kerbin time. Day 200 seems very suspect, as does exactly 6h and 6m. Though I don't know what for A Mare is a sea on the Moon. It also means 'Sea' in Latin. However, in Latin, the plural of "Mare" is "Maria", not "Mares" Envision has no specific space-related meaning I know of. EDIT: Corrected my Latin.

I would like to be able to enable and disable separation per seam, with a settable default to either all or none.

Squadcast Summary for 2015-04-18 - Picture Perfect Edition!
Superfluous J replied to HafCoJoe's topic in KSP1 Discussion
VERY interesting. I was going to say that it was likely just the texture, but you can see it goes up and down along the edge of the runway. Nice find! -
Howsabout this?

KSP 1.0 General Thread + All the new features
Superfluous J replied to Daze's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yeah the fairings coming off in pieces is just not important to me. In fact it may end up looking pretty cool with them symmetrically flying off in a kind of sphere. -
Losing my mind over a satellite contract
Superfluous J replied to Reeveli's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Sorry I didn't notice the numbers because I never look at the numbers. I've never gotten an orbit even CLOSE to exact and have completed dozens of satellite contracts. Your ROUND-8 is in the (e)mail. -
I don't think so. I mean, if you keep it at terminal velocity you shouldn't die (People fall at terminal velocity all the time and - providing their chutes open - they generally come out of it okay). Also, Eve ascent will hopefully be a bit easier from a dV perspective so chair shenanigans should be far less attractive compared to something aerodynamic.

Squadcast Summary for 2015-04-18 - Picture Perfect Edition!
Superfluous J replied to HafCoJoe's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It will likely take more work to refurbish a 0.90 craft to work in 1.0 than it would take to rebuild the craft from scratch. Even once you get everything working from the perspective of the parts, there's still the changes to aerodynamics that will make flying or launching it completely different. If the new aero even slightly resembles FAR, you will likely need far less dV to get into orbit (in exchange for not being able to launch things shaped like brick walls). And that's just a single example. And, as others have said, there's nothing you can do for your ship NOW that you can't do in 9 days (assuming the countdown is correct). You should have a backup of your ship anyway, so just back up the entire instance of the game around it. If the ship is that important to you, then surely that one singular (and extremely simple) step is worth it? -
Squadcast Summary for 2015-04-18 - Picture Perfect Edition!
Superfluous J replied to HafCoJoe's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Sorry, I meant in-game. In the game, ablativeness is likely a resource. It may be called ablativeness, heatshield units, or whatever but it has to be stored somewhere. I hope they don't model it in 3 states (not used, in use, and used up) or something weird like that, and instead do it like DRE does. But we'll have to wait for 1.0 to see. -
[1.1.2] Kerbal Inventory System (KIS) 1.2.12
Superfluous J replied to KospY's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Some items explode on contact with the ground, too. Solar panels and Extraplanetary Launchpad stakes in particular I've found are quite explosive in this way. I've gotten pretty adept at grabbing them quickly. -
Funny you say that. One of the things I miss from SC2K (and later games) - tunnels - will be added in the next patch.
-
I did, and then discarded it as inane. You don't put up a secret countdown to a video advertising your upcoming game release. (No Squad joke here, even though I want to make one)

Removing default space background
Superfluous J replied to Mesons's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You can't toggle orbits off in map mode. The best I've found is to hyperedit something small into a position near where you want your camera, and then zoom out until that item is smaller than a single pixel. -
Losing my mind over a satellite contract
Superfluous J replied to Reeveli's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Your picture doesn't give enough information, but I'd still be willing to bet a dime to a ROUND-8 that your AN and DN are closer to 180 than they are to 0. In that case, you're orbiting backwards. -
A Station Editor
Superfluous J replied to jandcando's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Yeah build them in the SPH or even the VAB, then pull each section off and save as a subassembly for launching each part up individually. The only problem comes from if the station is too big to fit, but in that case it'll likely also have too many parts to be practical. -
Squadcast Summary for 2015-04-18 - Picture Perfect Edition!
Superfluous J replied to HafCoJoe's topic in KSP1 Discussion
"Ablativeness" is a resource, right? An ablative shield has so and so amount of Ablativeness? Like, 50 units, or 200, or whatever? I wonder if you'll be able to convert Ore to "Ablativeness" instead of Monoprop, Xenon, or any of the other resources. -
Squadcast Summary for 2015-04-18 - Picture Perfect Edition!
Superfluous J replied to HafCoJoe's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I like all the things in this Squadcast, but most of all the fact that even though I was driving across town during it, I still got a timely, concise, and quick to read summary! -
The Unofficial News About KSP Posted On Other Sites Thread!
Superfluous J replied to Robotengineer's topic in KSP1 Discussion
No, because that wasn't an official Squad announcement that has not yet made it to the official forum.
