  1. KSP really doesn't need crossfire/SLI. KSP, even 1.1, is limited by the CPU, not graphics.
  2. Tonto sees the Lone Ranger riding by with some black bags on the back of Silver. Tonto asks, "Where are you going, Kemo Sabe?" The Lone Ranger replied, Can you tell what movie I just finished watching?
  3. I think they tend to use the term "dry cell" for the typical AAA-D (and other oddball sizes, like N) "batteries". Then you stick a bunch of dry cells in your battery pack. A typical car battery is 6 lead-acid wet cells strung together. Note that a 9V battery has 6 dry cells inside it.
  4. I considered a phone, but they may not be allowed cellphones on the shop floor. But yeah, flicking the light on and off may have attracted attention sooner, although if they're fluorescent the response time is lousy.
  5. A - combination lock, just don't forget the combo B - A doorbell, maybe?
  6. Ah, the night shift with a toddler for a neighbor, I remember that well. Like clockwork, a couple hours after falling asleep in the morning I 'd wake up to "SamANTHa! What are you DOing??" Funny write-up, though.
  7. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called LIFE" - As seen on the sidewalk outside his residence, from one of his many hits. RIP
  8. .... Which goes against the rapid turnaround (refuel, refly) that they hope to achieve someday. So they'll either need to modify the design, or have another set ready to swap on while they slap another second stage on.
  9. I realize that it's empty and also SOP, and that it's just light tankage in the middle. I just think it's unusual that there is no support in the middle.
  10. And that shows how strong their rocket is, able to lie sideways only supported at the ends. I don't think there are many rockets that can do that, without support in the middle. I wonder if they pressurize it for extra strength?
  11. Just downloaded from the store and it has the x64 exe in it! Woot!
  12. Back on topic? Sure! I wonder if Elon Musk and his SpaceX crews have finished downloading KSP 1.1 yet?
  13. The "usual" devnotes time is 2pm PDT, which is when they usually drop the updates. That means I should get home just after that and start the download, and then go get my boys from school. By the time I get back the download will be done!! *wishful thinking, the server will be crushed by the hype train * i wish I was at home on my PC so I could update this: Cuz, like, the time to keep calm is over! It's time to jump up and down excitedly!
  14. Well, I did say "appears to balance." If not balance then at least the reduced thrust means reduced torque, making it easier for the reaction wheels to cope and hold the heading.
  15. (actually, you can never be too old for C&H)
  16. This is actually the first time I heard capslock called "soft mode," I usually thought of it as "fine control." Edit: Ah yes, the keyboard map (Thanks @FullMetalMachinist) calls it "Precision Control" With capslock off, all RCS ports are at full power. With capslock on, they operate at reduced power, and it appears to balance them as well, if the center of thrust is offset from the center of mass. This stops the offset thrust from rotating the craft when you are just trying to translate, as when docking. It's nearly impossible to manually execute a maneuver node perfectly. After a maneuver I often fine-tune with RCS translation, to get the encounter (right down to the periapsis I want, over the equator or poles) or rendezvous I was aiming for. If the RCS is bouncing the orbit around too much, I use capslock for finer control. E2: Another control that is oh-so-useful to learn is using [ and ] to switch between ships/kerbals in physics range. I hope tips like that are in the tutorials and KSPedia
  17. Keyboard and touchpad *gasp* most of the time. I break out the HOTAS now and then if I want to fly, but it gets frustrating when the bindings get lost. Lately I had to hook up a mouse for C:S, so I'm getting used to that again. I also have an old trackball that I use to love using, until my then-2-yo kept throwing the ball out the window into the gutter, so it got put away and stayed there. I may try out one of the XB1 or Wii-U controllers kicking around here. Truth be told, I haven't seriously played (aside from making screenshots) for awhile now, since I was burning out and decided to wait for 1.1 to drop. But this is still the only forum I frequent.
  18. Soft mode is awesome if your RCS is overpowered or unbalanced (especially as fuel loads change). Alt-click copies parts or assemblies in the editor. Very handy things. What took me a long time to discover was that backspace focuses on your active vessel in map view.
  19. When you know that there are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don't
  20. "KSP 1.1: Blowing Things Up" - Referring to the new heatshield, of course.
  21. http://xkcd.com/1663/#8adf1a88-005b-11e6-8001-42010a8e0009
  22. Well, you did order the Soylent soup, sir. Waiter! There's a.... a... What the heck is that in my soup?!?
  23. Kraken Attack! (Not sure who built this, came up on image search. Beautiful though)
