  1. thats pretty cool! Whoa, you had to spend a lot of time conducting this mission. Impressive!
  2. Don't say its never going to happen - rather consider that the game is still being developed beyond the basic engine and content. Either DLC or mods may provide the experience you are suggesting. The only issue is how it fits in with the existing canon, game-centric physics, and some distant sense of #realityfusedwithHarvestersandothersoriginalthinkinghopefullynotdilutedbytaketwointhefuture.
  3. TL;DR Make a mod for it. Aha! Your paradigm is encrusted with the concept of "Manned missions". Ok then... Specifically I take it that you are asking for the ability/opportunity to land a Kerbal on the "surface" of gas giant, plant a flag, build a base, etc. I can't argue against you having this as a desire --> Fair enough. (As background, I'm primarily a RSS/RO player these days. I have no desire to put a crew member deep into the beating heart of Jupiter.) As a point of constructive criticism, I'm not sure your communication style and/or logic is working to your benefit if your intention is to get other folks to agree with you. Most importantly though, if this is a serious enough desire for you to take this kind of mission idea forward, then it is likely best to initiate a conversation with a competent modder (or perhaps you are one yourself - apologies as I am not aware). It might make an interesting mod for those folks who are so inclined. It could be fun (from a game perspective - but maybe not necessarily a reality perspective) so what the heck? Probably would use Kopernicus as a base and that's not a difficult plugin to grasp from what I can see. Go for it. Make the mod, I'll dust off a stock install, and try it out - seriously. (Now, which Kerbal gets marooned? I think its got to be...) Good luck! ( to you and Mr. Kerman, with obvious condolences to Mrs. Kerman)
  4. As I understand it, currently there is a boundary layer deep in the atmosphere of Jool where parts will glitch and/or be destroyed. Frankly, until humanity actually sends a craft designed to descend/survive/transmit into the depths of Jupiter (or other gas giant), then the current in-game representation is fine with me. I would, however, support more in-depth player interaction with Jool, but that would likely require a more seamless and well defined buoyancy and pressure model applied to planetary environs and also part specifications. Perhaps wider stock science parts, more vertical biomes perhaps, a storm system... Yet if this never happens, it's not a deal breaker. However (as with most all improvement to the game that require higher levels of semi-realism) I don't have high hopes for this in stock. Some mods (airships? IIRC) are available that address this, but I have not tried them.
  5. OK a quick question: I want to modify the flow mode setting of the stock fuel cell parts (both of them from "stage flow" to "stack search". A quick read through this thread makes me think the following might work... I'm going to test it anyway, but if anyone can find obvious errors then I would appreciate any constructive feedback. It's been 32 years since I last coded - jeeze! But that's no excuse Thanks in a advance!
  6. ALL THESE WORLDS ARE YOURS - EXCEPT JOOL. ATTEMPT NO LANDINGS THERE
  7. I have no idea. When I first looked at your post everything was looking fine. Regardless, a fine mission!
  8. That'a pretty cool. Nice rover. Compliments to you for all the time it takes to run a mission like this.
  9. Enough now. I have just reminded myself that I should not engage against logical fallacies. (Edit: specifically syllogistic in this instance if I am correct in my recollection)
  10. "things can always get better" Would it be more acceptable to use the phrase "continuously improved"?
  11. I never intimated there was an issue with store security. I suggested that security oversight should include the store, the forum and data transmission. Did you actually read and comprehend my posts? It's OK if you did not - not offence taken.
  12. One does not need to state that something specific is wrong in order to propose that a general principle is good. What specifically are you concerned about regarding the concept of holistic/integrated security oversight?
  13. My first 1000 hours of KSP were rather steady. Lately (and this takes me well past 2000 hrs) I find its a bit more chronic - I play intensely for a few days or a week and then totally ignore KSP for several weeks. I think this is due to settling into a primarily "design focus" play style vs a "mission execution" play style. I feel this is due to there being so little to actually "do" once a mission arrives at the destination... This also has driven me to play sandbox exclusively. That said, my "design focus" play has been dramatically enhanced since I transitioned to RO/RSS. This is a very limiting strategy
  14. Allegations? What allegations are you talking about? I am now quite curious...
  15. I did not say is was insecure, I only indicated that better security oversight is a good thing - and that such oversight should include both the store and forum. Additionally, such oversight should include the transfer of play data from live instances back to squad.
  16. @TriggerAu, does the daily version check compare against the live version of KSP currently running? As I'm running the version appropriate for KSP 1.2.2, I would prefer if the KAC warning did not fire when I'm starting up my stabile 1.2.2 RO/RSS install . I currently find that to be quite annoying on several other mods. i understand that this is an impossible request for legacy versions (So I must put up with it for the 1.2.2 compatible version), but going forward it makes sense (at least to me ) Apologies if this has already been answered or addressed - or if it is impossible to implement. Many thanks in advance!
  17. We can only hope that the take two takeover will also include better oversight regarding security for the forum and store (OK maybe a pipe dream) and also proper app signing regarding the mac version. All it takes is one disgruntled hack-savvy user or insider to cause a singular issue that destroys trust.
  18. People can have dreams. Squad will do what they want. These two things do not need to be aligned.
  19. I do not. From my experience this is only true if the resourcing plan and project plans totally ignore communications requirements This is not your case it is a KSP squad case, sorry (not personal, just fact) we are talking about 4 months in this case of squad and KSP (it is not a few days or weeks) only in your opinion - I and others might be quite interested to hear some details, even if small if you are the coder, then MAYBE yes. But if you are the producer, then it's a big no. A really big no. if you are working on a big project with a multitude of other coders, then you are very very likely NOT going to be allowed to just go and 'be all creative", but rather you will be managed to a set of very specific requirements and deliverables. Uh... What? So the producer just forgets what you are/were working on? Or what you should next start working on? Dude, thats just crazy management theory. Unless your producer and PR lead actually have a project plan and adjunct comms plan that incorporates these important tasks. Let's not talk about your company specifically, but still... we can take your data and extrapolate/interpolate "several hours" (ok lets say thats 4 hours - for a single person) "about every week or two" (so divide by something) ok whatever.. Regardless, let us say it takes 2 hours per week (for only one person at a time) to write something/anything Shouldn't that be factored into the overall project plan? Several (4 hours)...Few (3 days)... four hours over three days means well less than an hour per day to document what has happened - assuming EVERY resource has accomplished something that day. Frankly the production plan MUST comprehend this. It must not be optional. Dude, you don't need to take photos during EVERY stage and you don't need detailed commentary. Summaries??? Come on... I'm sorry if I'm comming across pedantic - that is not my intention. However, our individual experiences regarding development communications should not be the basis for excusing the failure of Squad to address their published commitments. You and me both my friend... You and me both...
  20. I also tried to use a service bay to house the rocket bikes, although it wasn't totally successful. Regardless, your mission was well done. I very much appreciated it. It actually makes me want to have another go at it, just to see what I can come up with. Once again, Well done Sir! EDIT: Sadly I'm on RSS lately, so I need to unlearn what I unlearned to learn again what I need to learn to do it in stock... lol
  21. Very Very nice! I attempted the same back in .25 - very fun but frustrating at the time (The addition of the spaceplane tanks helps for sure) A few comical points... 1) I kindly suggest the following replacement soundtrack 2) Where are the rocket bikes? I need my rocket bike. 3) Check out the kerbal modification cheat to rename your crew to Steve, Venus and Matt 4) Add a 4th crew spot for Robert Seriously though, I love it!!!! (Fireball XL5 remains my earliest television memory)
