  1. Despite having owned KSP for two years, and having played 1320 hours of KSP. Before today I had never been to another planet, and the only two missions I've ever done are a Mun mission and Minmus+Mun mission. The main problem is that KSP terrain isn't very interesting, so it never seemed worth the (with hindsight minimal) effort to go to another planet. This changed with KSP version 1.8, not only did they add the terrain shaders, they updated to a newer version of Unity, which runs significantly better on my potato computer. Due to the apparent easiness, I went to Duna with a small Nerva powered ship and started taking screenshots after entering the Duna system. The clouds are from a modified version of Astronomer's Visual Pack, all dependents except scatterer (Which doesn't work anywhere near correctly in 1.8) Oh how very kerbal... There is a dog in a collar and a shirt on this rock. Dust storm. No one told me Ike was shiny! The AVP dust clouds are quite possibly my favorite thing I've ever seen in any KSP image. Some nice pictures of Kerbin that doesn't have anything to do with 1.8 terrain shaders.
  2. Hello, I just got the DLC on PS4Pro (latest KSP-version, all standard settings) and have some problems playing the historical missions. Right during the first mission: The Dawn of the Space Age: After successfully landing (Wernher told me so :)) the K-7 near (but not directly on the runway) the old airfield I return to the VAB either via the button at the top or via the mission diagram. I build the K7-B and want to launch. But here I am sent back to the landen K-7 on the island. Here Wernher briefs me on the 48km-flight. Somehow the spawning of new vehicles does not work, From now on, when I manually return to the space center, all building are locked except the Observation building from where I just can return to the landen K-7.
  3. I was just going through the available contracts and saw...this. I swear this is not a Photoshop job. https://ibb.co/02t9ZLx I guess this kind of thing was inevitable!

  5. Hi everyone! I have a contract from StrutCo to skan a big crater on the Mun. I have landed on the very big crater(watch the pic, this is other crater, just the one where I landedis on dark side) http:// https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1760939288 I landed, released the rover with medium robotic arm, but it can't skan the crater. Tell me please if I need a smaller crater or something else to do.
  6. So I've run into a strange bug. I'm on unmodded KSP Career mode and got a rescue mission. The title says 'Rescue Jebediah from orbit of Kerbin' Already strange, since this is my first rescue mission on this save and Jebediah is alive and well. I click to see more details to find the white boldened text again mentions Jebediah, but the task list contains 'Save Desby Kerman' and 'Recover Desby Kernan on Kerbin' The biggest issue is, no ship even appears in the tracking station! I have tracking ships turned on (as well as all other tracking options just to be safe) but nothing. At first I thought I needed to upgrade my tracking station, but pretty sure that's not a thing and that didn't work anyways. I don't like cancelling missions, or even declining them for that matter. Is there any way I can get around this? Attached an image of my mission below: https://imgur.com/a/g83PS8D
  7. Pretty self explanatory. Here you can share some of your own custom mission flags if you want to. Here are mine: Feel free to use them if you feel so.
  8. Orbital Photography INC. Mission Report 1. Classified KSC Document Due to recent difficulties on deciding on a budget, all Kerbal government programs were under review. Inspectors were been sent to the KSC and worked on compiling a list of pros and cons. Cons: Irresponsible Management "It would look cool" being confused with "let's do it" Pushback from Kerbal Rights groups for workplace safety violations Pros: (Still working on this) In a final attempt to rescue the Space Program Gene Kerman decided that a series of photos from space would convince Kerbalkind that their missions are not futile. However, due to lack of funding the contract was given to the lowest bidders: Orbital Photography INC. (According to some rumors they were actually three friends with little photography experience just wanting to go to space. Disregard these no matter how much they reflect reality.) The first mission was meant to introduce the crew to spaceflight, as well as allow the to calibrate their cameras. In this picture taken just before the launch of the first mission Theogel, head engineer, photographer and president of OPI, Lanfied, assistant photographer and engineer, and Franzon, head of technology posed in front of the hastily built ship, with their pilot Jebediah. The spaceship, unlike many though, made it off the ground without much difficulty. Staging was also successful. However, in the process of making a craft so quickly a few key features were overlooked. One such feature being stability and in the middle of the flight Jeb lost control of the craft and it flipped. The craft was righted in time and parachutes were deployed. However, in the standard careless style of the KSC that lead to this situation in the first place another craft was ready on the pad by the time the krew returned, this time with more fins. Launch proceeded nominally, as did booster separation. However, they decided that, as this was their second launch it would be smart to begin testing their camera equipment, and before mission control could threaten them with termination of contract they had exited the capsule. Their tests complete they prepared to descend. While this mission succeeded after some initial failure the Space program was still far from receiving the extra funding they needed.
  9. So today I built a delta iv heavy-like craft and sent a kerbal to eve's moon gilly. Where can you take it? (Download it, then show me!) Delta IV (Heavy): https://kerbalx.com/JohnsterSpaceProgram/Delta-IV-Heavy Here are some images of what I did with it: Nothing in the fairings yet, lets put a gilly lander! This should be succificient, its a ion engine/liquid fuel engine craft, with room for 1 kerbal On the launchpad, ready to launch After booster separation, when the central fuel tank is refilled Many days later... Approaching Eve Now I prepared to do the Eve Orbit Insertion Burn, which is shown below And lastly, here are some images of gilly after arriving at it What can you do with it, post images or tell me below!
  10. Hello! Johnster here again, with a new post about career mode, this time, its about my mission I did to minmus and back! So, after a successful launch, I did a burn for the minmus flyby (I decided to flyby at a distance of about 30,000 m so I would get lots of science) the first images you see are after the burn as kerbin got smaller and minmus got larger. First look at Minmus, from 28,367 K from Kerbin. (Its still pretty small, only slightly larger than a dot) Now I am at about 37,390 K from Kerbin, it has grown even smaller, and minmus is getting a little larger. The next 2 images, from 42,203 and 44,654 K from Kerbin, show the progression of Minmus's size from the spacecraft as it approaches it Finally doing what I came to minmus in career mode to do, get science! (First, I am getting some high space minmus science, then when I am a lot closer, low space minmus science) After doing that science, I decided to do my first minmus EVA spacewalk, from around 500,000 m away. (Its high space minmus spacewalk) Now I am getting really close to minmus, as I prepare for a second minmus EVA spacewalk and low space science. At this distance, I can start to see higher resolution detail in minmus than in the previous image Closest Approach To Minmus! Now that the spacecraft is at its closest approach to minmus, I collected some low space science, and did my 2nd EVA Spacewalk. Leaving Minmus. After that, here are some images of the spacecraft leaving minmus and the 3rd and final EVA spacewalk. Back To Kerbin and Landing. These Final Images Show The Spacecraft Approaching Kerbin, and splashing down, putting an end to the successful mission. And that brings an end to this post about the mission. If you have any tips or ideas for me, tell them below!
  11. Considering creating a new KSP channel and would like suggestions for a first mission Thanks!
  12. Hello All, New to this forum and would like to suggest a challenge. So, I looked for videos of anyone that has landed on the Mun on the default "To the Mun" training/mission and couldn't find any! (share link if you know one)This one guy tried it and successfully got to the Mun but exploded on landing,... as have I multiple times now. Now, the mission may seem like quite a simple one to the more advanced players,... and it might well be. But i think maneuvering with limited fuel for the landing might present an added challenge. It could also be a great contribution for novices like me to learn from, and for the person who does it, to flaunt their awesome skills and be hailed as a hero by the community for their awesome accomplishment So without further ado, I challenge anyone to: Land the Landing Module on the default "To the Mun - Part 1" training/mission, and post a link to the video on this thread God speed and good luck!

  14. Hello, I have placed a lot of relay networks around the Kerbin system but I would like to move them all above my current missions in the tracking station instead of the sporadic placement of them in between my other missions (e.g. my space station). Is that possible?

  17. I've been playing with the missions built in to Making History, and while some of them are fun challenges, the whole mess is filled with problems. The big one is that on two occasions I've encountered sudden out-of-nowhere "FAILURE" messages just before succeeding in the final mission objective. • Munar 1: I designed an excellent replica of the Saturn V, flew it all the way to Mun, landed my LEM, re-orbited the top half, docked with the Command Module, transferred crew, flew the Command Module back to Kerbin, started re-entry, disconnected from the Service Module, and everything seemed to be going fine, when suddenly FAILURE pops up out of nowhere. I closed the message, continued airbraking, deployed parachutes, and landed safely. Why the sudden FAILURE? My only guess is that the no-longer-needed Service Module (not even part of my vessel anymore) had just blown up from re-entry heat, and the program thought "oh wait, a required part has just blown up! FAILURE!" • Acapello 13: orbited Kerbin, went to the Mun in spite of the setbacks, landed Jeb in the lander, got Jeb back into the Command Module, returned to Kerbin atmosphere, got the "oh noes your parachutes have failed and you'll have to bail out and use personal parachutes" message, had all three of the crew bail out and deploy personal parachutes... and then suddenly got an "I told you you should've bailed out!" message from Gene Kerman and the FAILURE message out of nowhere. Again, I closed the FAILURE message and continued playing... Valentina (the one I was controlling at the moment) landed safely; the other two kerbals seem to have vanished into thin air (in spite of their parachutes having already been deployed); the crew capsule, ironically, made it to the ground completely undamaged! And yet FAILURE anyway. No clue why. I've also been having problems with the Service Module part that is required to be used in the Munar 1 mission. I loaded it up with fuel tanks (of the 1.25m variety), and discovered when I reached the appropriate stage that they weren't feeding fuel to the engine (connected directly to said Service Module) at all. I started over, discovered that the tanks were attached to the ceiling of the SM, and tried attaching them to the floor of the SM instead--the "fuel overlay" view confirmed that they should both be feeding fuel to the engine. When I actually flew it, though, only half of the tanks (either just left side or just right side; I forget) fed fuel to the engine; the other half remained full and untouched throughout the entire mission--and untouchable, too, since apparently the "transfer fuel from one tank to another" ability has been disabled?? By some miracle of engineering and the Tsiolkovsky equation I made it back to Kerbin anyway, but, well, FAILURE; see above. I hate to complain here, because KSP is such an amazing product and as a physics teacher I get so much use out of it both personally and professionally... but I'm getting really tired of these bugs. I'd expect to see this sort of problem in a hastily assembled mod, not purchased DLC that was in development for so long.
  18. DOWNLOAD: On KerbalX - Jool Mix-Up On Steam - Jool Mix-Up IN SHORT: This mission/challenge is all about navigating the Jool system with only the level of control afforded when you are out of comms range. That's right: no keyboard aiming, no maneuver nodes, no fine-tuned thrust. Pol and Bop won't be too much trouble. Vall could be a challenge. Tylo might be just too much for you. And what about Laythe? Seriously? I you expect me to fly a plane with the "radial out" button? Yes. Yes I do. BRIEFING: This is a PR nightmare! Jeb landed the Bop lander on Pol, the Vall lander on Bop, the Tylo lander on Vall, and the Laythe lander on Tylo! And he didn't realize it until he was getting ready to land the Pol lander on Laythe! You have to fix this. You're our only hope. Oh, and none of the landers have full control, so you'll have to do it blind. Oh, and the only lander we have ANY control of at all is the Bop lander. You won't be able to control any other lander until you're close enough to it and landed. Good luck! MODS: No required mods, but I highly recommend a time warp mod and Kerbal Alarm Clock. Don't use MechJeb or anything else that helps you control the ship, as this mission is all about having very little control. I would suggest not even installing Kerbal Engineer so you don't even know things like how far off the ground you are. DISCLAIMER While I'm not sure what will happen when you either don't win or try to trick it, but if you just play it you'll be fine. If odd things happen, let me know either here or via PM. Also, I'm still learning this whole Mission thing so bear that in mind. THE REST: I got this idea when I lost my relay to an unfortunate encounter with Tylo, and I wanted to say I'd landed on Bop. The only ship I had that could do it was on Pol and didn't have comms. I've beaten this mission in its current state. I learned a lot about controlling the uncontrollable, and hope you will too. I also hope you will find it as fun as I did.
  19. I am currently working on a complex mission. I want to check if a certain Kerbal has entered a specific part of my vessel. However, as soon as I switch to that vessel, the node is triggered automatically, no matter where the Kerbal is. I have no idea how to fix this. Help? EDIT: if I add a "Kerbal boarded" check beforehand it works correctly. But this is not possible in the mission scenario I have planned. It would make no sense to EVA and board just to correctly transfer the Kerbal to its correct capsule.
  20. It is now Val's turn in the pilot rotation. Her mission has been classified Top Secret. Kerbodyne has designed a new ISRU that will speed ore conversion by 300%; without an engineer. She is to travel to the low-g world of Gilly to test the new converter. The mission is straight-forward and confidence is high. Safety risks are minimal. Mission is considered to be routine. The stage is set. Take Val to Gilly, land, drop your drills, and test the new converter. What could possibly go wrong? https://drive.google.com/open?id=1dHFY9n-rVrXEAV7lfJX8DVfIaKPlcEJ7 This is my first mission, and I've been working on it for awhile (mostly testing). Some of the functionality in the Mission Builder is not quite right yet, so I couldn't do everything I wanted; and had to find some workarounds for others. Overall, it turned out pretty well, I think. I used creator-built vessels to help expedite things. The mission is somewhat difficult in a couple of places, so I thought it would help speed things along if you didn't need to spend time in the VAB working on your design. Also, I thought it might be fun to fly somebody else's ship (something I've yet to do; gonna start delving into other people's missions now that mine is complete). Anyway, I hope you guys dig it. Any questions or comments are welcome. And any feedback (either good or bad) would be appreciated. As I said, it's my first mission, so I'm eager to improve however I can. Thanks, Cpt Kerbalcrunch
  21. Welcome to my third mission report! As for the first two, one save got eaten by the Kraken(Speaking of Krakens, liking your Mission Reports @Alpha 360!), and the second one got its mods eaten and I gave up on trying to resurrect it. Links to these are here if you want to see my old work: The My Space Program Thread, the first mission report I did, and the second one, a 2.5x playthrough. Please don't post in these threads, they are old and discontinued. Hopefully, the third time is the charm! Also, this one will have a bit of a storyline. This S.A.V.E (Thanks @Parkaboy, I also need to catch up on Plan Kappa, although I haven't seen it in a while.) is in Sandbox mode, in the stock star system, lightly modded. The mods I have are... goes and checks GameData folder... BetterBurnTime, and BetterCrewAssingment, by @Snark, MechJeb, the Making History DLC, and Kerbal Alarm Clock by @TriggerAu (right?). I will be doing a Jool 5 mission, although I doubt that I will be able to keep my readers strung along for as long before getting to Jool as @Kuzzter did(I'm actually caught up on that, eagerly awaiting more!). I will also be doing in-depth missions to Laythe and Duna(Sort of like @Brotoro's, if you've read them; if you haven't I highly suggest reading them, they are wonderful!). I will also be establishing bases on the Mun and Minmus. Don't expect my story to be as good as @Just Jim's(I need to catch up on Emkio Station too.), but hopefully, it will be good enough. Project Voyager: Jool 5 Mission. Mothership launch. I have surprisingly few pictures of the launch of the mothership, these are the only ones. The launch of the Val/Pol/Bop lander: Intrepid. The pictures of the launch have disappeared. Valentina Kerman: "Mission Control, this is Intrepid." Docking successful." "We'll float through the hatch and join the boys. Mission Control(CAPCOM): "Roger Interpid, have fun." Well, 4/5 of the crew are partying in orbit, let's see the ship designs, and figure out who the last 1/5 of the crew is. Tylo Lander "Nut" in the VAB. Stats: Stage 2: 3953m/s of Vacum DeltaV, 2.30 Tylo Local TWR. Stage 1: 3148m/s of Vacum DeltaV, 5.09 Tylo Local TWR. Crew Capacity: 2 Kerbals. Laythe Lander "Dawn": Stats: Stage 1(0) 3975m/s Vacum DeltaV, Laythe SLT 2.17. Crew Capacity: 2 Kerbals. Vall/Pol/Bop Lander "Intrepid": Stats: Stage 1(0): 4058m/s Vacum DeltaV, 4.70 Vall TWR. Crew Capacity: 2 Kerbals. Vall has the heaviest gravity of the three moons, so the TWR's for the other moons are higher. Mothership: K.S.S. Eagle: Stats: 10703m/s Vacum DeltaV, without landers, with tugs. Crew capacity: 10. Writing this I just realized that those "tugs" on the docking ports lack RCS thrusters, which means that the other landers will have to have their transfer stages dock them too. Also, the vacuum TWR without landers is 0.77. Let's meet the other crewmember. Linser Kerman, a scientist. Well, I'm off to play the game. I feel like I wanted to say more, but I can't remember it.
  22. So Explore the Mun seems to be broken. I can't seem to complete it. I have orbited at all heights. Looked at the mission requirements and attempted orbits from other directions. Is this a bug or is this user error?
  23. Comrades, it's time to join the space race. The N1 stands ready. Let's land on the Mun and show all of Kerbin what we can achieve. https://www.dropbox.com/s/udod72znlzzcgbc/Mission-N1-L3 Mun Landing.zip?dl=0 Admittedly, this is my first mission, so I tried to keep it as simple as possible to avoid mishaps. I hope it will be enjoyable.
  24. Story: Jeb forgot his Key Card for the KSC (again!) and Gene is about to fire him! Get Jeb's Key Card from the Island Runway and hurry back to the VAB Roof. Summary: - fly to the island runway - land - get out and pick up your Key card - fly back to KSC - parachute onto the VAB roof and run to the door sounds easy? true but HOW FAST CAN YOU DO IT? Can you do it in less than 3 minutes? DOWNLOAD v1.1: <HERE> CHANGELOG: 1.1 - you have to EVA and get close to CoolCat Kerman on the Island Runway now (getting close within a craft isn't enough anymore) - Kerbal Recovery removed as endgoal - parachute to VAB roof door as endgoal added
