  1. I thought of an idea on a couple of lunar base concepts, on the Mun, based off real ideas that hopefully, can be replicated in KSP. May have to involve a couple of mods. 1. Starship Lunar Base A Starship lunar base is a Starship turned Permanent Base. The Construction of the Lunar base involves tilting the Starship and emptying the compartments of the fuel tanks. It is then applied with basical needs for a permanent Lunar abode. I have a couple of ideas of my own. If possible, you could turn the starship unside down, and tilt the fuel panels from near the engine to the tip to look like a cone. apply some centrifugal rotation, and yourself have a small, centrifugal base. If you're still confused with the concept, check Idea 2. 2. Japanese Lunar City The Japanese Lunar City is a centrifugal, tall city that rotated to simulate gravity on the low gravity of the lunar surface. Water, plantlife and housing is carried on the rotating base, with a train system to transport crew onto the base. 3. Centrifugal Crater Base I created this idea. The base is layed on a crater, varying to size. The base rotated enough to simulate earth gravity. A solar panel is placed on top on the base, supplying energy to the base. 4. ESA Inflatable Lunar base The ESA inflatable lunar base is well, inflatable. Constructed with gigantic lenses to act as sunlight for greenhouses. It can be applied to work in small craters. 5. Crater Lunar radio Telescope These bases will act as gigantic radio telescopes to help study, transmit and act as just cool dishes wired above the craters. It may supply bases on the dish itself, but it may cause mass problems. It can act way better than Earth telescopes, because there is no atmosphere to interfere. This is all for now, I might find more if I can. Hopefully this will work, and give you a few ideas for starting up a lunar base. I'd love to see how you make it too in the game. This is my first post too, so hopefully this will gain some attraction.
  2. I'm a bit dumbfounded that this could be happening in this day and age. Maybe (hopefully?) I'm missing something but a team of above average Cisco or Network+ certified engineers eat problems like "bad network chip" for breakfast. Toss the boxes with the bad chip? A depot-level chip replacement ? I assume it is likely complicated by a bespoke space network protocol and chip but there are manuals the Geek Squad A-team could refer to, right? ...The report also finds that the Gateway program is running into some pretty serious technical difficulties. One involves a defective network chip that facilitates communication throughout the lunar space station. Its failure could cause myriad problems onboard the Gateway. "For example, these defects could lead the flight computers to unexpectedly restart," the report states. "If the network is not functioning properly, it could result in loss of control of the Gateway. Program officials are also concerned that they might identify more defects with the communication network, based on the number found already."... https://arstechnica.com/space/2024/08/nasas-lunar-gateway-has-a-big-visiting-vehicles-problem/
  3. Latest Releases Download: GitHub, SpaceDock Source (DSEV), Source (WildBlueTools) BARIS Wiki Now with CKAN support! Kelbin looked out the window of the orbital transfer shuttle at his new command: The Discovery II! Its long truss assembly had several radiators attached to it to keep the ship's revolutionary fusion engine cool. Its liquid hydrogen tanks held enough propellant to let Discovery II leave for Jool at any time. It'll be a long journey, but the cryopods let the crew sleep the whole way. Before he knew it, Discovery II will reach Jool, and the crew will be investigating those strange readings... The Deep Space Exploration Vessels (DSEV) mod is inspired by numerous NASA studies on deep space exploration. With DSEV, you can create your on deep space exploration vessels, or kerbal versions of: Discovery II: Kopernicus: NAUTILUS_X: Features LEGO-like part design lets you recreate the NASA spacecraft in Kerbal form or create your own designs. Stand-alone approach minimizes required mods. Textures are shared by several parts to conserve memory. So even if you hide parts in favor of another mod's counterpart, the textures they use are shared by parts that don't overlap. All crew spaces have custom IVAs. Command pods have Optional support for ASET Recommended Mods (ASET IVA support requires RasterPropMonitor & ASET Props Community Edition) Dependencies The Spin Hub and Counter Torque Ring require Infernal Robotics. DSEV is a Kerbal Space Program mod by Wild Blue Industries. If you want to boldly go, we'll get you there. 8. May 1984: The US creates a treaty with the USSR. Its primary goal was to cut military spending and focus on more technological advances. This rapidly progressed the new Space Shuttle's development but also revived the Saturn rockets and the Apollo Spacecraft. July 1984: The treaty was Approved, and a new Shuttle launch schedule was approved. NASA also made a few upgrades to the Saturn line but added a few more rockets. Additional Story: In addition, the LC-39 Complex was upgraded to accommodate larger versions of Saturn, the Space shuttle, and eventually SDLVS. Meanwhile, the Soviet Union is developing a rocket similar to the Space Shuttle. Its name is presumed to be Buran.
  9. TESS for KSP i have recreate the TESS satellite for ksp you can download it here : Download (SpaceDock) - https://spacedock.info/mod/1836/TESS Satellite License - WTFPL if you have any problem tell me, i will do my best for resolve it ! (sorry for English mistake i am french ^^)
  10. DISCLAMIER: The Auora crew transport is not retired. It just isn't capable of lifting the payloads the Ranger can. So Andrew the Astronaut Industries presents the SSCT-1 "Ranger" Download link: https://kerbalx.com/Andrew_the_Astronaut/Ranger-V02 What do you think?
  11. Frizzank Aeronautical Space Administration presents - Apollo, Gemini & Mercury. Pronounced like NASA but with an F (FASA) FASA is going to be transferring to NathanKell. I no longer have enough free time to maintain FASA and he is a great choice for it. I gave him complete control over the mod but I will keep the original up on Kerbal Stuff just in-case anyone still wants to download the old, non-updated one. Delete the plugin folder reflections no longer work as of KSP 1.1. Raster Prop Monitor (JSI folder) will need to be manually updated for 1.3 compatibility. RPM Latest download The latest version taken over by NathanKell is here, Module Manager configs make it work with Realism Overhaul. if your not using RO delete the MM configs. FASA/RO Latest Download OLD Stable Full Release Now on Spacedock!!! http://spacedock.info/mod/188/FASA%20-%20Frizzank%27s%20Aeronautics%20and%20Space%20Administration Google drive 5.44 mirror-click download at the top of the page. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5TWBhfzs3ZXNHlaZmY3QkRjTnM/view?pref=2&pli=1 Dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/s/3qt22esj59yfsi4/FASA5.44.zip?dl=0 These are Kerbal versions of NASA rockets, not NASA replicas. Replicas are not the direction I want to go with FASA. I want to keep it fun, simple, easy, and have it be a somewhat stock like in appearance. Currently there are almost 200 parts in this pack and they give you a wide range of options. Updated FASA Light Version Helpful but not required mods.... I highly recommend Kerbal Joint Reinforcement to help with larger builds like the Saturn V! http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/55657-0-23-5-Kerbal-Joint-Reinforcement-v2-2-4-2-14 Also this pack fixes many bugs including the Launch Clamps going with you to space http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/97285 Real chute module manager fix.(your apollo chutes are messed up) http://www./download/bpig55ly85qawmx/FASA_RealChute_MM.cfg The Apollo CM and Lander were created by DennyTx. I work extremely hard to make FASA work well with the stock game I do not provide any support for mods that alter FASA, and I have nothing to do with them. You should ask the associated authors of those mods. A video review of FASA from "The Block Room" Install Instructions All mods reside in their own folder under "GameData" in the main KSP directory. Delete the old version of FASA before installing. The parts folder in the main KSP directory should not have any FASA parts in it. It is no longer used in .20 and beyond. If your upgrading from before .20 your craft and saves will no longer work correctly. Steam install is here. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Kerbal Space Program\GameData The "Squad" folder is the stock parts that come with KSP, any other folder you add is a mod. To remove the mod just delete the FASA folder. If there are any parts you wish to delete from FASA open up the mod folder and delete any folders you dont like, or want. I do this a lot with mods I download. It keeps loading times low and filters out the parts I never use. If your upgrading to a new version "You Must" delete the old version of FASA before installing newer versions! Having older version parts and not deleting them will give you duplicate parts. Something went wrong and FASA broke KSP, HELP!!! Do this first before asking for help.... Step 1- This helps with memory problems. Delete the FASA mod. Run KSP again. From the main menu, click on settings and then Graphics at the top. Change your "Texture Quality:" to the Eighth Res option. Click apply then exit KSP Re-install FASA and try running KSP again. If nothing is working or some parts are missing, something is seriously broken with KSP continue to step 2 Step 2- This helps with broken or missing parts. Start with a fresh instal of KSP. If you like you can copy the previous install somewhere else as a backup first. If your using steam, right click on the name in the library and click delete local files. Navigate to the steam game directory and verify that the Kerbal space program folder is gone. If it is still there delete it! C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ After its done double click the Kerbal Space Program name in your list of games and select install. If its a regular version of KSP. Delete KSP and then re-install it. You should now have a CLEAN version of stock KSP. Open the FASA.zip file Copy all of its content into your main KSP directory. If you put it in the correct spot you should get a confirmation popup asking if you want to overwrite the folders and files. Say YES overwrite all folders and files. You should have a clean version of KSP and FASA only. Run KSP and see if it works. If it still crashes on load, verify that you have enough free memory to run KSP with mods. If you have less than 2gb of RAM you are going to need to upgrade your system or install fewer parts. Whats with the sandwich? 14. Thought this build deserved a thread of its own. This project started out as a side project when I was making my Saturn V, with a simple question: could I build an MK3-sized shuttle without using MK3 parts? This resulted in the following shuttle build. But right after I finished building that shuttle, the flags got released in the KSP update, so I tried replacing some of the parts in that shuttle with flags that could better emulate the texture of the real shuttle. But then I realized it would look very jarring if some of it was flags and some of it just regular KSP flags, so I decided, why not make the entire thing out of flags? Contrary to what you might think, building the shape of the shuttle was the easy part. Getting it to fly, was most definitely not. I thought the flags were physicsless. They were not. Every single time I tried to do a drop test from orbit, the shuttle would spin out of control. Every. Single. Time. I could not for the love of me figure out which part in particular was causing the problems, which pretty much stalled out the process of building. I ended up rebuilding it from scratch in an effort to figure out just what the %$#! was wrong with it, as well as to try and lower the part count (orbiter went from 1100 parts to 900). Eventually, after on and off months of testing, I finally managed to figure out how to fly it without losing control. After many hours of losing my sanity at sub 10 fps, I present to you the best stock shuttle replica I can build. Flight instructions, custom flag downloads and such are on the KerbalX page. 16. This mod is now deprecated and has been replaced by PALETTE. Custom Kerbalized NASA flags! The pack includes custom-made KASA logos along with my TUFX profile. KASA Meatball Color, black, and white variants included. KASA Worm logo Black, white and red variants included. TUFX PROFILE My TUFX profile used Zorg's famous profiles as a base, and was partly inspired by the color grading in the opening scene of Gravity (2013). Included are 3 profiles: Emilius_Default: The default profile. Emilius_Default_Map: The default profile with motion blur disabled. Made for use in the map view. Emilius_Default_noAO: The profile, with ambient occlusion disabled. Meant for close-up screenshot taking, as AO can form weird shadow lines when the camera is close to a part. TUFX is (obviously) required. You can download it here. I highly recommend the TUFX profile is used in conjunction with other visual mods. For the demo screenshots below, I used EVE, Scatterer, PlanetShine, Distant Object Enhancement, Waterfall and RealPlume, along with the JNSQ planet pack. Demo Screenshots

  18. Planned to land on February 18th, the Mars 2020/Perseverance rover is designed to better understand the geology of Mars and seek signs of ancient life. The mission will collect and store a set of rock and soil samples that could be returned to Earth in the future. It will also test new technologies for future exploration. Curiously enough, Kerbals have also been preparing a similar mission to Duna, but they need some help to design and successfully complete the entry, descent, and landing sequence of their Dunian Rover. Are you up for the challenge? To successfully complete this challenge, you’ll need to: Build a six-wheeled rover that looks as closely as possible to NASA’s Perseverance Rover, plus all the components needed for the entry, descent and landing sequence. Use an orbiting CommNet relay to control the spacecraft. Perform a cruise stage separation before entering the atmosphere. Use a heat shield and fairings for the backshell to enter the atmosphere. Include a parachute deployment and heat shield separation stage. Separate from the backshell and begin a powered descent Separate from the Descent stage and touchdown! Collect some samples using the robotic rover arm. Post a video or screenshots on this thread showcasing your successful mission. Additional points if you deploy a Duna Helicopter, too. Additional points if you land on a Dunian Crater You have until February 18th to complete the challenge. As we did with the Demo-2 Mission and the Space Station Anniversary, NASA will be reviewing submissions and liking their favorites, so don’t miss out! Looking for some tips/inspiration? Check out Matt Lowne’s Kerbal-take on the Perseverance/Recovery mission here.

  20. I was looking at an old topic about orange version of the 5m parts, so I would to see a revamp of the shuttle/SLS based parts. A, 4.2m wide orange fuel tank because kerbal scale is half of human scale and the Shuttle ET was 8.4m wide. B, The vectors be slightly bigger or have a less powerful bigger version of the vector that is more like SSME (space shuttle main engines) . C, Bigger mono pro engines based off of the OMT (orbital maneuvering thrusts). D, Orion based capsule that is around 2.75m and other 2.75m parts. E, The pollox boosters have bigger nozels, have an aft skirt, be able to gimbal, and have a 4 or 5 segment versions. F, RCS pod on mk3 cockpit like the real one. G, Bigger LES (launch escape system) for Orion capsule. H, For the 4.2m tanks should have a white version, orange and sliver. Sliver for the starship because the starship is 9m. I, Revamp the rhino, mamath (sry for spelling) swivel, reliant, dawn ion engines.
  21. Someone please share the craft file for replica of the Perseverance rovar for KSP 1.9 with DLCs
  22. Hi, i want to make a ksp mod to simulate the proverse yaw effect caused by the bell-shaped lift distribution formulated by Prandlt. As a layman, i have no idea how to program and create a mod to do that, so, maybe i can get some help. The mod would be very simple, it would create trust at instead of drag when aileron is applied, and it could also have UI that allow you to switch on and off this effect and control its intensity. The bell lift distribution create this effect, as you aply aileron to generate more lift on the wingtip you also generates more trust, thus yawing in the same direction of the turn. For understanding more of this you can search for the prandlt-D project that is made by NASA. I want to reproduce this effect on KSP to make better flying wings projects, i hope you can help me with this project! Here is a link for the NASA's Prandlt-d project: https://www.nasa.gov/centers/armstrong/news/FactSheets/FS-106-AFRC.html If you know how to make this mod but dont have the time or just is not in the mood, could just tell me how i could make it myself?

The mod would be very simple, it would create trust at instead of drag when aileron is applied, and it could also have UI that allow you to switch on and off this effect and control its intensity. The bell lift distribution create this effect, as you aply aileron to generate more lift on the wingtip you also generates more trust, thus yawing in the same direction of the turn. For understanding more of this you can search for the prandlt-D project that is made by NASA. I want to reproduce this effect on KSP to make better flying wings projects, i hope you can help me with this project! Here is a link for the NASA's Prandlt-d project: https://www.nasa.gov/centers/armstrong/news/FactSheets/FS-106-AFRC.html
