I'm not even seeing a Bluedog_DB_Extras folder.

The best way to use the extras patches is just create a new folder in your GameData called precisely "Bluedog_DB_Extras", and then in the BDB download > BD_Extras (No Warranty) > GameData > Bluedog_DB_Extras folder, copy over the patches you want to use into the folder you made in your main GameData, like BDB_CCK:

I've just submitted CKAN data for some of the optional patches too, so if you use CKAN it'll be easy to install the RealNames/CCK/Methalox patches

I did two interplanetary orbits which  after completion gave me enough fundings to upgrade R&D to build Saturn rockets and Apollo.

First mission: Baxter, Destination Duna.

We also had some leftover Nimbus instruments to detect possible weather on Duna which in surprise it may have indicate there might be rain or snow on Duna, we might have to do a landing to see if that is true.

Second Mission: Elvira 2.

A interesting photo of Eve's Northern Hemisphere had the Kerbal States in panic thinking the camera took what looked like an alien spaceship. The KSC immediately had to tell them that it was really the kitbashed booster used for Elvira.

Same case as Baxter we used leftover Nimbus Instruments to study the atmosphere though we also had a ultraviolet instrument and found out that it does rain on Eve. It doesn't touch the ground and we are debating whether that the liquid falling is grape juice, soda or Wine.

As fun as those missions were I am still far away from being able to build Saturn and Apollo. However I have been debating whether to do Apollo or pull a N9 and instead use Gemini for Lunar Mission.

You know after playing upscaled solar systems like JNSQ, KSRSS, and RSS for so long I forget just how small the stock KSP bodies are.

Aye, I have it at stock because originally I was gonna play with GU but due to memory I went with Extrasolar and OPM. Plus my last career I played 2.5x scale.

Thanks for your help here. I can't figure out how to put a picture on here, it will only let me insert an image from a URL.

Firstly, your extensions look completely different from mine. I'm using CKAN. I don't have any folder called "Bluedog-Design-Bureau" or "BD_Extras (No Warranty)."  Within GameData, I have Bluedog_DB, 000_FilterExtensions, 000_FilterExtensions_Configs, and CommunityCategoryKit. I assume the issue lies within one of those.

Second, I'm not necessarily trying to get the real names, but in the VAB and SPH in the parts lists, there is a category specifically for BDB parts. Within that category, there used to be subcategories for each of the specific designs (Sarnus, Skylab, Etoh, etc.) in addition to the normal ones (pods, thermal, electric, etc.). The design-specific ones are no longer showing up.

I have Pods, Fuel Tanks, Engines, everything all the way to probes and SRBs. But it completely skips the specific ones.

Is what you're describing above the fix I'm looking for?

Okay fixed it.

1. The Sub Category config file for BDB in 000_FilterExtensions_Configs was missing. Was able to copy that over from the Bluedog_DB > Compatability > Filter Extensions folder.

2. The names in the category list in each of these config files below need all need to match. That is, if you're not using the Real Names config patch, then they need to be the Kerbalized names (Sina, Kane, etc.). My issue was that the lists in each of these configs were different variations of the list itself and the names:

GameData > Bluedog_DB > Combatability > Filter Extensions > Mod_Bluedog Design Bureau AND SubCategories_BDB

Game Data > 000_FilterExtensions_Configs > SubCategories_BDB (This was completely missing for me. I had to copy and paste from the Bluedog folder.)

Game Date > 000_FilterExtensions_Configs > Default > Mod_Bluedog Design Bureau

3. This is the correct list of subcategories with Kerbalized names. Copy and paste this into each instance it shows up in the above config files:

    SUBCATEGORIES
    {
        list = 0,Pods
        list = 1,Fuel Tanks
        list = 2,Engines
        list = 3,Command and Control
        list = 4,Structural
        list = 5,Coupling
        list = 6,Payload
        list = 7,Aerodynamics
        list = 8,Ground
        list = 9,Thermal
        list = 10,Electrical
        list = 11,Communications
        list = 12,Science
        list = 13,Utility
        list = 14,Viklun/Etoh/Chryslus
        list = 15,Prometheus/Konan
        list = 16,Bossart/Muo
        list = 17,Fenris/Daleth
        list = 18,Sarnus
        list = 19,Belle
        list = 20,Inon/Vejur
        list = 21,Hermes/Leo
        list = 22,Kane
        list = 23,Sina
        list = 24,Probes
        list = 25,Hokulani
        list = 26,Solid Stages/SRBs
        // list = 27,unsorted
        list = 99,Undefined
    }
}

Ah yes if you’re using CKAN you won’t have those extra folders. And it sounds like you mean the FilterExtensions version, and it’s currently partly working since you have probes/SRBs categories? That was a bug with not having the real names patch installed, which is fixed in the dev version for next release. Installing the RealNames patch will fix it, or you can use the Community Category Kit optional patch on CKAN instead, which adds the filters to the main blue part categories, or you can download the fixed cfg from github and replace the one in your GameData/Bluedog_DB/Compatibility/FilterExtensions/

Ah I see you worked out a solution just as I replied to the previous post lol. The subcategory cfg from the 000_filter extensions folder doesn’t matter as BDB ships it’s own, in the compatibility folder. But yeah the fixed cfg file I linked from the dev branch has options for both the real and kerbalised names,  automatically switching depending on if you have the realnames patch or not. So it will be fixed in the next release.

Does anyone happen to know what causes this error? It's a new install of BDB, via CKAN.

Might be an installation/download error? Does this file exist in your gamedata? Gamedata/Bluedog_DB/Parts/upgrades.cfg

And: Gamedata/Bluedog_DB/Parts/Shared?
