Don't worry I haven't been slacking! Here are some screenshots of some planets that have been given a facelift in the upcoming Christmas update:

Also, after I am satisfied with the Valentine System, I'm considering bringing back my now dead mod RSPO and make it a part of Extrasolar. Basically, in the future, Extrasolar might also overhaul the stock solar system.

@MKev @Tryphon @Sleepy068 @kananesgi and everyone else wanting to use Extrasolar:

I've whipped together a temporary fix for the lighting issues and the black rings. This hotfix that I created should solve both of those issues. However, Lomina's rings won't have the fancy ring shaders. I still need to figure out why they were all black.

Great job ! Thx for your work.

Nice - would be nice to have an Principia config file to have it running with this mod .....

(and change to Kopernicus Asteroid usage would make the mod more simply and more robust, as one needed mod less ..)

All good suggestions. Isn't using Principia with the stock system a little silly though? The Jool system is really unstable in Principia. Maybe if I were to redo the stock system that'd work.

@Tryphon By the way, you do not need to use the lighting hotfix with the update I released today. I'm extremely happy with how this new update came out. I think many of the planets/moons look miles better!

I have sent a ship up into orbit to rendevous with then I have sent up a second ship. I set up the maneuver node for it and warp closer. I have done this twice and it has crashed twice right after setting up the node. I have also had two other random crashes after playing for a while but this crash is situational not based on time. First spoiler is most recent error log second is the one before it. This only started happening recently after installing both OPM and Extrasolar. I use x64 and have 8gb ram.

Do you have this same problem with only Extrasolar installed? I've never really done anything regarding compatibility between Extrasolar and other planet packs, as there are more pressing issues with Extrasolar. However, this is a little strange because I'm pretty sure people have successfully used Extrasolar and OPM together. By the way, I won't be able to get anything out of error logs. Upload your output log to Dropbox, and post a link to download it. Also, post a screenshot of your GameData folder.

this is gamedata most images from ckan but last one is from actual folder so you can see module manager

I feel like having 109 mods installed is the problem  but at the same time Im running 64bit and seem to have enough memory

Yeah having 109 mods might be a problem. :P

Also, please do not install Extrasolar from CKAN. I added it to CKAN when I initially created Extrasolar, which was a mistake. I haven't been checking to make sure CKAN installs Extrasolar correctly. Instead, start a clean install with just Extrasolar, OPM, and their required mods. If the problem still stands, I'll know I need to make Extrasolar work properly with OPM.

When I checked ckan files I saw EVO and Extrasolar and the lighting works fine so it appears to be alright but ill do it manually. What did you get from the logs and is it common to experience random crashes from too many mods with no explanation?

Given the shear amount of mods you have installed, its kind of hard to pinpoint anything by looking at your output log. There is a lot of NREs related to a mod called "NextStarIndustries." Once you create the clean install and test out Extrasolar with OPM, post your output log here again as well as a screenshot of your gamedata folder.

Does this work with sigma rescale because the star seems very close to the other planets so it feels like an extra planet instead of a star (with opm 6.4x rescale). The planets orbiting are so close together they are nearly like moons.

It should work with Sigma Rescale (haven't tested it though). Keep in mind, the planets appear close together because Valentine is a small red dwarf star.

Mmmhh - no ...

Play with stock system (as IMHO every change on kerbal confuse the game in one or other way ..) and OPM(Galilieo version) and Principia stabilize the stock system self (inbuild config IMHO) and an additional config file for the added planets from OPM ...

So Extrasolor would fitt nice in "leave the stock system untouched (except GFX improvements)" and only ADD planets on the borders ..

mm,  I wonder, would you know how many Kerbin to Kerbol distances are between Kerbol and Valentine?  Currently, I have a simulated Bow wave reach up to 100 Kerbin Astronomic Units (KAU) distance.

@FreeThinker Okay it looks like Valentine is about 71 KAU from Kerbol. I'm assuming you want it to be beyond 100 KAU? I'm considering moving it further out to between 200 - 300 KAU. I Feel as though 71 KAU is just too close.

Expand

71 KAU is indeed not that far, for comparison, Pluto is at 550 KAU, the size of our solar system heliosphere helio pause is about 1115 KAU , 200 - 300 KAU sound like a decent distance for kerbal universe

Yeah. It's just that at 200 - 300 KAU, you can't see Valentine from Kerbol, or Kerbol from Valentine. I thought it would be cool to be able to see Valentine in the sky on Kerbin. I'll increase the distance though.

I agree that wold be best. Notice that OPM (Outer Planet Pack) outer planet is at 50 KAU, which is relatively very close to 71 KAU

Well that would not be consistent with its description

  Quote

Valentine was a star that took a very long time for Kerbal astronomers to discover. Its relative dimness and its distance from Kerbin meant that finding it and tracking it was very difficult.

Expand

So being able to see it from Kerbin was technically a bug

By the way, could you please also give the star some surface temperature above 2000 K, that way, Valentine can be recognized as a star by KSPI and other mods

Oh I forgot about that haha.

Yes I can do that for you. Will probably release a smallish update next week.

When moving it further away from Kerbol, I suggest also increasing its mass and put it planets in a higher orbit, maintaining the same period
