I'm not trying to complain, I'm trying to point out something that could become a problem. Please stop twisting my words.

I don't typically get into these but your point has been heard several times over already.  We understand that you personally as a singular individual do not like the look of these new rocket parts.  Perhaps some other folks here agree with you, and perhaps some do not.  Either way can we please progress this particular conversation along from the current "uh huh, nuh uh" back and forth so that other folks can enjoy the thread.  Thank you.

Some posts have been removed from this thread because an argument was getting rather heated. Some people don't like the new engines and some people do, they aren't in their final form anyway (if I understand correctly), and there's more than engines to be hyped in this hype thread. So let's get back to hyping, please.

The stock rocket parts were created by different folks at different times. The design shift from Jeb's backyard rocket parts, to the NASA pack sticks out the most for me. Giving it all over to one guy is a tremendous workload, but if we stay patient, the end result will be a more consistent style across the different parts.  It may be different than what came before, but it should be consistent. Now we have finally seen the work-in-progress: me likey. I hope Porkjet is both interested in continuing, and will be able to continue with this work.

I would like to thank both @legoclone09 and @passinglurker for pointing more towards my actual meaning. To be clear, I was expecting the parts to look more like MoarMk1 rather than completely different entirely.

The first rule about hype train: tell everyone about hype train.

I think this update is looking pretty hype-worthy.

Again, for the second time, I am not against the choice of placing an aspirator but its shape. I don't like the form it got on the Swivel, it brakes the lines of the nozzle.

To be more precise here is what I talk about :

Even the RL-105 got this curve with the aspirator.

Now here is what I see with this new LV-T45 :

This aesthetic does not suit to me.

*shrug* for me, it seems like shielded fuel evaporator / nozzle cooler. You can't just spray liquid H2/O2 into combustion chamber. It must be pre-heated into gas. This is done by channeling the fuels through a circuit surrounding the nozzle, where it boils off, taking heat away from the nozzle that would risk melting otherwise. Also, the boiled fuels are often used to propel the turbopump to pump cold fuels.

Usually, it's done a bit higher up the nozzle, but that's not a firm rule. Sometimes it's done as a webbing of pipes all over the engine (and then it retains the smooth bell style), sometimes it will be along the rim, giving it a "lip"...

So, feel free to hate on looks of real rocket engine nozzles if you like. That's how it's done though.

Just remember. This update is free. You guys are poodleing about free stuff.

Squad should start charging a couple bucks and extra for the poodleing.

Poodling!? :sticktongue: LOL, why not "Dachsunding" or "Basset Hounding!" :D

To be fair.  The point of early access is we pay in advance for the final game.  This isn't free, just pre-ordered.

By naming the first rule of fight train, you've talked about fight train!  It's a paradox!

I just hope Squad are racking in the cash from additional sales. Oh sure, I love cheap stuff and free is even better. But I also recognize that: game studios that do not pay their bills and give their people something to eat (or at least currency to pay for noms and their rent for their hovel under the bridge) probably will not be around for too long, i.e., I'm happy to pay them to keep making good games (but not TOO much!).

What did we all pay for this game? Anything from $0 to $15? Maybe $30 if you bought one for your dog/girlfriend/roommate?

How long have we "been playing it" (meaning how many years/hours/seconds of possible play time have we got from that initial investment?)?

At some point, Squad is PERFECTLY justified to start selling more packages instead of just giving away updates for free. More updates at this point strikes me as gratuitous on their part, for which we should all be thankful.

It is poor form to "look a gift horse in the mouth."

Interesting news on yesterday's Squadcast.  There will be tracking stations on Kerbin rather than it being one big antenna.
A tribute to HarvesteR was mentioned as well.
The new comms system looks very cool.

The first rule of Hype Train is...

HYPE!

Happy landings!

(brushes by rocket engine kerfluffle without interest)

I'm looking forward to 1.2 for a number of reasons, but I think the most interesting one to me is the communications feature(s) (and I have to say that the images that have been shared of some of the new antennas are fantastic).

We all have standards of what a finished product looks like.  1.2 is finally reaching the point where I might agree with you.  Before that, definitely not.

Taking another look, thank god for the slider allowing us to set rocket thrust to max on pad. I'm skilled enough to not overengineer all of my rockets. :P

Now, if we could get another option to auto-activate SAS, then my pre flight procedure would just fly out of the window. At this point I don't even think about it, every time I go to the launchpad I hit y+t (german keyboard  ), before checking staging groups, opening MechEngineer windows and finding the correct launch angle.

Btw, if you wanna discuss rocket engines, gregox made a thread:

Also, it appears that we have the option to turn off "auto-hide" of the nav ball in map mode. One less thing to monkey with during launch.

I'm excited about the stock instant leveling option and the camera re-focusing functionality(both mentioned in the squad-cast)

Can you elaborate on this? My father has been in the ER and ICU over the past day, so I didn't get a chance to look at the Squadcast.

Oh god yeah that's even more important. Knews I was missing something.

Having to open the navball on map screen every single time, even more so since the small button is hidden in windowed mode, is such a little annoying thing...

You gotta open it anyway during 99% of launchs and most orbital maneuvers. Doesn't make any sense to keep it hidden by default.

Everything I know came from here:

There are screen shots with options such as 'Ease in gravity', 'autohide navball in map view', 'enable kerbal experience', 'kerbals level up immediatley' and 'signal required for control'

For Hype's sake, shut up about the rocket engines! This is the hype train thread, not the heated discussion thread.

Hey, if you discuss anything about engines it's bound to get heated if you keep it running long enough.

Firstly, with all that unpleasantness over with, it's nice to be back HYPING. Just thinking about all the things coming in 1.2 has got me back rearin' to go.

I know it's not really the place for this, but I hope your father is all right.

I missed this just like you missed my point. I like the new engines, but messing with the style of the game is just a bad idea, which is why I don't want to see them in the game. I'm trying to point out a real problem, and everyone is just blowing me off or deflecting.
