(Those people who put forth ideas on the mating habits etc. are not bad, they are merely putting forth ideas and in most cases don't claim to "know" these things, a lot of what we "know" about extinct animals is guesswork. These behaviors can also be determined from coloration (which in rare cases can be determined), i.e. you have a red crest, you probably use that to attract mates, and many behaviors can be estimated from body type, how much it's like living animals with certain behaviors, where it lives, and so on.) (Also there's a lot you can tell from a single bone, like muscle scars, bite marks, strength, shape, markings, the list goes on.) (I like dinosaurs. I like ranting about them.)
