The fact that no one noticed this for six full years frankly baffles me. Six YEARS? Jeez, i thought that was intentional!

I can't see why anyone would intentionally make a map for a height map, and then flip it over so that all the features are on the wrong hemisphere. SergeantBlueforce
Sorry for the double post but there is still an issue where the gas/ice giants do not cast shadows on other bodies in scaled space (only in real space). Conversely, Jool correctly casts shadows on its moons. Is this a problem with OPM's configuration or with Kopernicus?

Pretty sure shadows only work with those two.
SergeantBlueforce
I do.
Mr. Kerbin
Probably should have said this, but OPM doesn’t have EVE and Scatterer configs, and therefore don’t have those shadows.
SergeantBlueforce
I used unofficial ones, which resulted in the giants receiving, but not casting, scaled-space shadows.
stephensmat
(Raises hand) I've been having trouble with my game lately. I have a dual boot windows/linux setup, and my Windows setup has been spontaneously restarting without warning for a few weeks. I have no trouble with Linux rebooting. But the crashes happened largely during my KSP playing, so I ran an experiment. KSP works on Linux too. I installed it, and all the same mods, on the Linux setup. Recently, I sent my first mission to Sarnus, on the Linux game. It's the first time I've gone to one of the new planets in this mod. Every time I reach the Sarnus SOI, the game suddenly stops. Doesn't freeze, doesn't stutter, it just ceases to run the second my probe crosses that line. My current theory is that KSP is crashing, and taking windows with it. it takes a lot for Linux to get the same Kernel Panic that can reboot Windows. The crashes seem totally random. The only time I've been able to make it happen on command was today, when my craft crossed into Sarnus SOI. Has anyone else solved this problem? My computer crashing appears unrelated to KSP, as it does it while in Windows when I'm not even playing the game. I solved the 'KSP crashes at SOI change' by reinstalling the mod. Sorry to bother everyone.

It's the stock maneuver tool that tries to calculate transfers to the moons of Sarnus when nobody was asking for it. When it tries to calculate a transfer to Hale, it crashes. The maneuver tool is laggy as hell anyways so it is better to get rid of it using KSP Community Fixes.
TEMPEST_114
I'm having a problem installing OPM from CKAN. My KSP is working fine, I quit, open CKAN install OPM and OPM - Parallax with Scatters, apply, relaunch and then the game sits on a black screen at some point during 'load' and never leaves - I have to quit with Task Manager. I'm on Win11. I saw a post in this thread where the user had installed everything incorrectly (folder names were wrong and they had multiple version of a file) so to pre-empt that as a possibility, here's a screen grab of my meagre mod list. http:// Can anyone please help me work out the issue? Thanks ETA: If I do NOT install OPM - Parallax and Scatters and ONLY OPM then it works fine. My Parallax and Scatterer mods are up-to-date according to CKAn. Rakete
Ist there a 2024-ish way, to make the opm-planets a bit more beautiful, that works with modern versions of scatterer etc.? The newest visual overhaul of opm is a few years old. Just askin'...

And I'm using volumetric clouds as well Spoiler It doesn't look as good as it should be but at least it works. Mr. Kerbin
@Poodmund what .dds compression/version thing do the biomes use? (compression like DXT5, version like L8)

Kimera Industries
Using this calculator: https://kerbal-transfer-illustrator.netlify.app/Flyby I was able to find a Voyager-like Grand Tour. I used the following parameters: Earliest dep. time: Year 400 (900 for later path) Latest dep. time: Year 500 (1000 for later path) Max leg 1 time: 2 Max leg 2 time: 5 Max leg 3 time: 6 Max leg 4 time: 7 Set deep space maneuvers for all to zero. Set Neidon as the destination and add Jool, Sarnus, and Urlum as flyby targets. The mission departs in Year 471 and completes all flyby targets by Year 484. Testing with those parameters a couple of times yielded the same path. The planets align this way again in Year 948. Subtracting 471 gives 477, suggesting that Year 1 starts 6 years too late for a Grand Tour. The calculator did find a path at Year 1 that keeps the path around the last three planets intact while using a Jool assist to cut across the inner solar system if you're willing to "cheat" a little bit.
