The cholesterol/egg thing ran rampant back in the 90s, and it has been proved and dis-proved over and over so many times that I just ignore it now.

One egg a day is not going to hurt you at all.  It might be a concern if you were downing a baker's dozen every day.

I dumped most processed carbs a few years ago. I eat meat, veggies, and yeah, some processed carbs too, but far, far fewer than I used to. I had drifted into weighing more than I ever had, though I still looked relatively healthy (never had a beer belly or anything). Back to my high school/college waist after the first few months of laying off so many empty carbos.

This ain't gonna work if my boss doesn't stop giving me free pizza.

I was in pretty good shape until some time ago, I ended up a company where there was takeaway food for late working/weekend work. They even had an account at the local Dominos, so on a Saturday I'd often come in, work a few hours, then call up for a free pizza.

Not a recipe for a healthy lifestyle.

Today I went up the local mountain (~1000 m peak). I left home at 7:45 and cycled for about an hour to get to the foot of the mountain. That bit is mostly gentle uphill, from about 100 m above sea level to about 300 m, but has a killer section near the end. There's a construction site for a new cable car system there so I stopped for a minute to have a look, only to be embarrassed by a guy on a bike, probably in his 60, just powering up that hill like it was perfectly level. I barely climbed that hill.

Another 10 minute ride and I reach the forest. A short re-hydration break later I entered the forest trail. I can't ride the bike here since it's too steep and the path is not even - lots of rocks and roots, so I push the bike. At 10:30 I reached a mountain hut, changed into dry clothes, got something to eat (beans and sausage) and proceeded to climb the rest of the mountain (about 200 more meters vertically).  Another quick change into dry clothes and it's just downhill from there, literally.

I was actually debating with myself whether I should just go home or stay up there for a while. After all, it was a nice day, 25° C up there, and 38° C in the city. I decided to just go home, took the road and just rolled down. There is also a downhill bike trail, but I'm not sure my bike could handle that, or if I would be able to, so the paved road it is.

My odometer registered 61,5 km/h as top speed. I was home 45 minutes later, but I can tell you that as I was approaching my home I was struggling to maintain 15 km/h on level road.

Cardio done for this week.
