Levelord
Hi everyone, I'm one of the oldies returning to the forum. I've been a supporter of KSP back in the day since version 0.7 or so. Every once in a while I dive back into the game after breaks and I would usually download KSP and the relevant DLCs from the main website. In perhaps poor wisdom, I never decided to link my KSP copy with Steam. I was also not a big fan of Private Division and never upgraded my account with them. So, while trying to download the copy of the game from the original website, I discovered that I could no longer log in. The download button redirects me to the Private division. There is no login screen or option to register with them. I presume they have gone defunct. Is there any advice anyone can give me to get my game back? I would have not bothered making a forum post or hesitated re-purchasing the game on Steam if SQUAD was still around (as I think I got a fair amount of my money's worth in entertainment of this game). However I dislike that I will be paying money to whatever clowns that now own the IP whom have mismanaged my rights to access this game that I had paid for. But if there is no other option I might have to swallow my pride and dig a little deeper into my pockets to get a semi-permanent copy on Steam. Any advice anyone? jupitermoons
Hi, I just created an account to post the same issue, happy to see I am not alone! Unlike @Levelord, I did migrate to a Private Division account and downloaded KSP once last year, I believe. But now the website doesn't work anymore, login in or registering with them is not possible, all account-related links lead to a 502 Bad Gateway error. I guess we can only hope that they are updating the server or something, will try again in a few days. Martian Emigrant
Hi @Levelord I have not gotten into my account in a while. I did upgrade (Move/Whatever) my account at the time. I barely know what Steam is. Like you when refreshing my PC I would download the latest and greatest. Currently I have 1.12.5 If I recall well the forum would have a "Store" Button. Gone it is. So (To me) right now there doesn't seem to be a way to log into it. The login button is gone. I did find this page https://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/games-kerbal-space-program with a "My account" button but when pushed it redirect to ads. So.....I guess I can't forget or lose my old drives any more. If you have an older drive with a copy you might resurrect that version... My understanding is that the game was sold, no one quite know who owns the rights. Where the money goes. I am not even sure a new user can buy the game right now. It still available for sale on both Steam and Epic. But your statement about who the money goes to...dead on. Nobody knows.
Tanner Rawlings
Cant offer a solution but yea, migrated and downloaded once from private division a year ago but trying to bring in the new year with a fresh install (been just using the updater for too long :P) and yea, I keep getting sent to login to private division which support page gives a 502 and no shiny button anywhere for "login" Throwing in my comment to maybe keep thread alive for someone with the know to fill in. Jak Kerman
I´m having the same issue. I have contacted support, don´t know if it´ll reach anybody but its worth a try. I hope this is a temporary issue and not us, who bought the game on the official site, losing access to the downloads for ever.
HebaruSan
Of all the times people have brought up class-action lawsuits around here, not being able to download something you paid for seems like the strongest case yet. Maybe the lawyers could use discovery to find out who the new owners are.

Ads aside, this should redirect you to https://privatedivision.com which is still part of the problem from what other posters mention. So currently there's no way for direct PD customers to obtain their copies of the game it seems.
esby.space Posted yesterday at 05:37 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:37 AM Hello! So I got KSP a while ago from the website, not through Steam (I got it before I knew Steam was a thing ). I recently switched computers and wanted to reinstall KSP, but I'm really struggling finding the store page to install the game on the website. I can't seem to log in to https://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com or https://www.privatedivision.com to find the download button, and the support button seems to be down. How do I install the game? I know thing are kind of murky with the sale of Private Division, but I have just lost access to the game?
foonix Posted yesterday at 08:52 AM Share Posted yesterday at 08:52 AM If you are using portable zips, I recommend to BACK UP YOUR FILES NOW.
Lisias Posted yesterday at 09:27 AM Share Posted yesterday at 09:27 AM (edited) You have the right to make backups of your software, and you have the right to pay a 3rd party to keep such backups for you (otherwise online backup services would be illegal). The problem is how you can prove you own the software- without such proof, such online backups would be plain piracy. If you had bought KSP directly from Squad or Private Division, do you have how to prove you did? ---- POST EDIT ---- In time, I found this page: https://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/instructions Had anyone tried emailing [email protected] ? Long shot, but it may work... Edited yesterday at 10:02 AM by Lisias POST EDIT
Superfluous J Posted yesterday at 09:36 AM Share Posted yesterday at 09:36 AM I tried too (I own the game both on Steam and from the website) and can't find a download link. I've reported your post so hopefully a moderator who knows more than I do can help, but they're not employees so may not have any more info than us. One thing you CAN do, if you have access to your old computer, is just copy the entire KSP directory over a network or on a thumb drive and it'll 100% work on your new computer. There is no copy protection or anything like that and you own it so there's no legal issue copying it in this way.
Anth Posted yesterday at 12:08 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:08 PM Merged two posts into one and now both are in the KSP1 Tech Support. Changed the title to add KSP2 also not being able to be downloaded via the PD Store. I also posted under the KSP2 Technical Support (unmodded) directing people here for any discussion. mrbelvebeard
Private Division updated their support page for KSP 1 and 2 downloads sometime in the last 11 hours. https://support.privatedivision.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037744353--Kerbal-Space-Program-Can-no-longer-access-my-KSP-1-and-KSP-2-download-links

Looks like they have already been making changes because the website is no longer working like it was yesterday. Progress!
RandomKid
Looks like things are bad. KSP and PD websites are returning NXDOMAIN unless you put a subdomain. dns.google says NOERROR, but i'm getting DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN on Edge and Chrome whenever i try to access https://privatedivision.com/ or https://www.kerbalspaceprogram.com/.
