For the very first mission outside the Kerbin system, i recieved a mission to land a rover on a specific site on Duna, and after landing the rover, i will be recieving further updates for ongoing rover mission. What a surprise! For a first Duna mission, something so entertaining? No fly-by-Duna, no science from around Duna, no satellite in specific position of Duna... just go there streight with rover! Here is rover after landing, i gave him deployable solar panels (on hinges) so that we can adjust the angle of panels, and also to have the chance to put them aside completely for the scanning arm to have the full range of movement Here the panels are in deployed position, with Ike Playing with Kerbalism - reviewing list of science that the rover gathered. Last week it was Eve, this week I challenged myself to get into orbit using only Sepratrons. It took me more hours than I care to admit, but I managed it ...finally 29 stages! (and 2 am). For my first playthrough, I'm keeping it stock just to keep it simpler, but I'm making a list of mods that might enhance things once I feel like I've gone as far as I can in vanilla. My design is not great (my challenge has since seen much better entries show me up) but I simply shot straight up and then turned the craft on its side and burned. It took me a long time to get the balance of engines right to where I could actually get a circularized orbit. Initially, I kept running out of fuel. This is Project "Windsurfer", but I think it's going to become trade-marked as Amphibian: It's a hydrofoil with an aviation clearance. It's a trike to clamber out on shore to reload pax/fuel, but it can actually make conventional TO/landings at KSC. "Every lake and shore on Kerbin is its airport." That could be a game-changer for me. I truly hope so. I haven't calibrated its cruise flight yet. It's only been 5 minutes since first test flight, but I'm in love already, (Nod to @Lisias for his recent inspiration.) So I sent an ship to Bop to borrow their set, Pol base is an large version of standard base. Lands, start deploying, switch to engineer to place the RTG and see this. Epic facepalm. I call it "Pretend Fire Animal" after the Thing Explainer, and it's one of my best reusable designs yet. It can land three crew on the Mun, and if you refuel it, it can return to Kerbin and land propulsively, with parachutes as a backup. Unfortunately I forgot to take screenshots of the booster landing, but it has probably the best handling of any booster design I've made. And it's also my current lightest Mun lifter. The ascent was flawless, and it had extremely good handling for a rocket with no fins or RCS. The first stage is powered by a single Kite engine from Near Future Launch Vehicles, and the upper stage is powered by a Ulysses from CryoEngines. After circularization, it fires a Poodle to get it to the Mun, and the second stage deorbits itself. It has a heatshield and some parachutes stuffed in the cracks, but I just didn't care to land it.
