How bizarre! I started re-rebuilding mine last night! The release will have to wait for 1.1 and the fairings are still a MASSIVE issue (As in they are garbage).

 Remember with the MTV there is a gap up front just behind the first 'fore' section and the central tank is removable. Whats the part count on yours?

I will go so far as to say @SQUAD farings are the worst implemented feature in all of KSP. It really is like they deliberately made them as unrealistic and hard to use as possible.. They are inaccurate, ugly and in certain circumstances, dangerous to your craft.

 To make them better: Allow more than one texture. Allow each segment to detach separately. No confetti, period. Get rid of the ugly fairing bases.

They let the game down massively. It is a real shame they don't care about this as much as we do..

Dont forget the ability to choose the number of detaching segments.

Maybe we ought to start a petition or reform movement or something to get them to fix the fairings.

Yup forgot that one, very important too!

 Yeah we could try a poll I suppose. I find it very hard to believe that @SQUAD are happy with the fairings as they are..

And the fairing separation isn't a matter of just the ship's aesthetics. Pieces are scattered everywhere, and some become embedded on your ship. This in turn makes you be detected as "landed."

Hmm.. What else? Oh, the fact that engines don't start nor do control surfaces work when even a tiny bit of it is inside a fairing. "Can't activate while stowed."  

Fairings too heavy.

Fairings can't be replicated with symmetry (what the hell?)

Fairings, when grabbed by the base, will be deleted when placed again.

Fairing aerodynamics are screwed up and offset.

I just hope these glaring issues will be addressed. I am so sick and tired of contending with them. Shame, they have lot of potential since they're procedural.

Slowly the assets for a little video are coming together, cleaned up the mechanism on the tanker and built an F-4 to fly escort

Edit: Can't seem to get BurnTogether to work properly, is it because the craft are so dissimilar?

I wouldn't trust Burn Together with holding a tight formation. One time I used it to fly three of my Fokker Triplanes (they were exactly identical) at once, but even with BT armed, they drifted kilometers apart and I had to keep moving then closer together.

Just made an M1128 Light Mobile Gun Recon Car/Truck both with standard variant and the urban SOS Kit. :) 

It features, independent suspension per wheel, (2 spider engines to be exact per wheel), it can survive a drop from around 5 to 7 meters.
Top speed is 19 meters per second, and it does not flip when turning at full speed on a flat surface.

Have you tried BD armoury's new AI wingmen? It is actually designed for aircraft formations and works relatively great.

Yeah i have it but after seeing @Cupcake... video I thought it might work better

If you have a .gif extension on the url add it like any other image, otherwise add it like a youtube video but it takes lengths of whitespace, so to be nice I would wait till gfycat lets you link the .gif

How you getting on with this @Zucal?

 I am going nuts with the no offset limit mod,tearing through part counts like a hot knife through butter. :D

 I have remade the Orion, now a mere 29 parts and looks good. The Copernicus M/DTV is now 362 parts, down from over 500. It still has a nice lattice detail. So a max of 391 parts for the burn to Duna. Very playable indeed, should be butter smooth in 1.1.

 I am tackling the two lander craft now. These are still going to have 300+ parts each even with my new low part SPR rover. Just 28 parts and still looks great! It builds on my original 'double wheel' design from the my Original Constellation pack.

The only thing that concerns me about the build is the fairing but I have a very cunning plan for it.

You have shown that already haven't you? I seem to remember someone posting a pic of something like that. How far did you get with the landers'?

Hmm, yeah it would be cool to send them together. They would not have been sent side by side IRL though. But I guess it's moot as they landers will be in very close proximity on Dunas surface. I would love to have a max of 600 parts on the surface but it might not be possible and keep them looking like the real ones..
