For those of you who wanted moar shots:

(I may have to switch to the bigger landing struts, the mini ones are pretty weak)

And bugger, it's a little too big for the Apollo! The old one was much better with scale.

That looks amazing. I may have to take some inspiration for a future update of my own.

Also, that lander is not too big! It's about perfect, or actually possibly on the small side. Take a look at this for reference:

The descent stage on the LEM is about the same size as the CSM's maximum width.

- the shuttle's ET is 8.4m in real life - our kerbodynes are 3.75m - so that gives us 8.4 / 3.75 = a 2.24 scale ratio.

Now the SRB's are 3.71m in diameter in real life, which gives us a 3.71 / 2.24 = 1.65m for a ksp equivalent :)

I did these calculations as well a while ago when comparing KSP parts to real life. Great minds think alike :)

Has NASA decided on how the EUs of the SLS Block II will look like? are they using the two J-2X engines? or four RL-10 ?

The current design uses a four RL10C-2 upper stage. J-2X was underfunded so they opted to use engines that already existed or ones that could me modified.

so, worked on the second stage of the SLS Block II and added the fifth core engine.

All SLS designs are going to use four engines. They decided not to use five because, I believe, they wanted part commonality and they didn't want to run out of them as quickly.

That being said, yours is probably one of the best SLS's I have seen in a while. :) I really, really like it a lot. Keep up the good work mate! I also haven't seen any Block 2 SLS's, especially ones with the Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) design.

Darth Lazarus, that looks fantastic! Your fairing panels are very creative. Although I have to "correct" something again. I say this from an accuracy standpoint and not as a quality of work standpoint. :)

The Exploration Upper stage has an upper LH2 tank and a lower LO2 tank. It's not a standard cylinder anymore. I believe you saw this picture, which is from the old J-2X design: http://www.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/sls_dac_2_130t_breakaway0.jpg

wow Woopert, these PDF's are very helpfull. so i have the "old" EUS with the single cylinder, instead of th two seperated tanks. i already had that configuration, but droped it in favor of partcount. well, time to get it back. (and it looks more awsome)

i have an other question: th EUS boosts the mission to the Moon, will it do the braking burn too? i have read that the Orion will do the brakingburn, like Apollo CSM during the old days. So my Orion has the "larger" service module.

Double post, but I got a start on the fairing and am kind of stuck. I'd like to avoid making it any wider to preserve the looks, but without doing so I think my only other option is using elevons to fill the gaps, which is gonna be pretty heavy on part count. Thoughts?

I often use structural panels as a fairing base. Even though they're a little heavy, their slightly different dimensions help a lot aesthetic-wise. Also, I see you're using 8 on the bottom 2.5m part, and keep using those 8. I did an Atlas V replica too, and in my version, that part stays attached, and only the panels above it fall away. I did it that way, so I could build the fairing off the decouper, while changing the symmetry. I'm having a bit of trouble explaining it clearly, but have a look here (third and fourth pictures are the Atlas V with it's fairings):

There are many ways to make stock fairings at the moment. As you have to use the wing surface that attaches at the base using a base of panels is a good idea as Kurotenshi said. Any part that can be built on will work.

It might be a good idea to wait for the upcoming fairings though as most of these techniques will be obsolete.
