idk if we're all talkin about the same things here, but in the video I posted on the previous page, right at 7 seconds, you can see the 3 panels separating.  There are actually 3 shrouds on the engine.

Yes, but we're talking about the SHROUD. The panels that fly off when you stage. The panels can't be set to stage 5 seconds after hot staging occurs. The shroud panels will always jettison instantly.

Yes, but what CTuB4uk said is that the panels don't jettison instantly IRL, like in the video. I was telling them that the way shrouds work in KSP, that making the shroud jettison 5 seconds later is impossible. Well, impossible with stock (AFAIK). A plugin might be able to be made to where the panels have a set time to jettison, but really, making the shroud panels act more like jettisonable insulation might be better, but that would require the shroud become its own separate part, instead of being apart of the engine model itself. 

But yeah, time delayed shrouds is what they were getting at, and KSP doesn't have that functionality, afaik.

BDB does something a little like this. It uses a dedicated interstage fairing part for the Saturn V (and its various unusual siblings). It's a workaround, of course, but it does work.

 

Actually, now that I think of it, putting the engine shroud on a separate part might not be a terrible approach. I imagine some kind of low-profile engine mount (even just a simple ring with minimal greebling) could serve as an extra part for a stageable shroud while minimizing necessary modification to the current engine model.

I've not played around with the new Soyuz yet, so this is coming from a place of unfamiliarity with the geometry of the new engine, but it does seem like a potentially viable way to implement this - if there is any interest in implementing it at all, that is.

OK but if you just stick a decoupler in between the interstage and the shrouds, the decoupler is hollow, so the engine exhaust will pass through and so, after hotstaging the shrouds will stay attached to the upper stage until the decoupler is triggered. 

If you haven't played around with the new soyuz remember that you need to turn the attachment node on the boosters, and that the shrouds are part of an engine plate not the engine it self, at least that's what confused me.

Actually you can, BDB does something similar for the insulation on its Centaur-D stage using Simple Adjustible Fairings.

With a plugin, not stock iirc.  It's a homebrew system or it's a part of SAF, idk which. 

Even if Tantares adopts said plugin, I  think it only does altitude, not timer. 

Hmmmm. @CobaltWolf or @Zorg can your plugin do timers for eject-able panels or no?

Hello! I was told about the russian iss parts are here, I can't see any! do you know where they are? I mean i see pirs and rassvet, but I don't see zarya or Zvezda, do you know where i can find them?  thanks

They have to be built. Search "Aquila" for Zarya and Nauka parts and "Eridani" for Zvezda parts.

There's a page on the wiki showing the parts you need to build it, it should still be up to date IIRC. There should also be pre-built ones in the Craft Files folder.

Thanks, but theres a small problem, I am not good at building instructions, it's extremely confusing, is there like a video i could use? thanks

 

Edit: nvm I figured it out, now uh how do I build the rocket? I'm not good at russian parts :(

I built them, I figured out the rocket is a proton k, but idk what to do =c I cannot build it cuz idk how to build it :(

You put them together like every other part in KSP, stock or modded, with the green nodes or, like solar panels, radial.
What do you mean with "the parts are not doing their job"?
It would be best if you could describe your problem in more detail or upload some pictures so that we can see what is not working.

Nevermind! I got it figured out, because I never built a proton

Whats funny is I don't figure things out until I ask for help, then I manage to build it! It's very silly

anyways the part i said "the parts are not doing their job" was because the attachment nodes were off, but i managed to get them together

so oof lol

Yeah, that would be really cool, but don't we have Modular Launch pads mod for that? I would really love to see a working launch escape system tbh with the fairing and the grid fins.

I am guessing you got the idea of Dnepr from Scott Manley's video on the Mars greenhouse. :wink:

There was an ANCIENT mod that added an underground missile silo. I have been trying to get it to work with Kerbal Konstructs, but I haven't had much luck. Some others have figured it out though, so it is possible.

As for me, I would LOVE to see Big Soyuz and/or Klipper, as well as IVA upgrades.
