He's already back though, click here

..., I looked over at the thread and even people who are regulars at the thread were for the past 2 days like "yeah he's still gone, maybe he will come back".

*rapidly translates head to palm*

EDIT: Seems like over on the 'actual' EVE thread, no-one actually knows that he has returned lol. I think rbray wants a more low key intro back into ksp so I think that's why he made the announcement on the less-well-known WIP EVE thread...

I think it's simply because EVE 7.3 is no longer under development, but I guess that may be true to some extent.

Well, Pingopete must be working aggressively on RVE... I had better keep this thread alive and amused. :D

Not so much recently with exams and all, but while waiting for an atmosphere fix amongst other things, been working on an Airbus A330 (plus revisiting volumetrics for RVE a little bit).

Cool! So... I *THINK* the atmosphere that I have implemented has the right amount of haze now. It is also VERY configurable. pretty much endlessly configurable. I just have to add light and color handling now. Let me know what you think!

Ahh awesome! However I run on Linux x64 but there only appears to be x86 but thanks again!! :)

EDIT: sorry just got pm, I tried the last x86 build and got some pretty weird glitches running with it in x64, I'll give it a try though

oh one other thing, it appears the volumetrics will only appear normally, (not with great separation between each) after hitting apply and this only worked at night..?!?.. I know :L If I apply it at day or put the HexSegDiv to 4+ I get a CTD.. apparently it's a memory issue and day light clouds have a performance impact over night times ones.. so strange

Those are odd issues... I'll have to look into them. There is at least one issue I know of that occurs when you load a vessel. You have to hit apply before anything will work properly.

I've never had that my self.. Just checked the updated code, so many juicy variables!!

i found some amazing footage here:

ISS timelapse night.

https://youtu.be/FG0fTKAqZ5g

Nice find! Makes me want to try and implement billboards for auroras and better city lights in general

Oh man, imagine lightning storms while in orbit on ksp.

R.I.P GPU

They have this in astronomers pack though I've tested the technique in the latest overhaul and it doesn't work anymore due to the higher 2D layer poly count.. it was after all a glitch utilized for a visual effect :P

RO will be switching to kopernicus, as far as I know. Will there be a way of using this great and beautiful mod with RO in future times?

As far as I know Kopernicus is only really used for altering planet size and physical features while all the details and visuals are handled by EVE, which is only getting better :)

Have you done any testing with the preliminary RSS builds?

I can't get any RO stuff to work in 1.0 :( I got all the latest bits I could find from github and got kopernicus plus ATM and it doesn't load up RSS or even get past loading screen. Have you managed to get it working?

Hello everyone! I've been struggling these days to get a 0.90 ksp instance to work with Realism Overhaul but it seems i can't use this awesome pack. I've searched (almost) the entire thread for solutions, but have found none. Problem is, even following closely install instructions on the readme of pingopete on github (installing EVE without BoulderCo folder, getting DDS Loader, installing RVE and letting it overwrite the EVE config), i get a 'superglowing' effect on Earth that is completely invisible on its dark side and turns into a redd-ish corona when getting Earth against Sun in Map View. I tried editing parameters with Alt-E method, but i can't get to work the EVE manager either (debug window reports lots of red lines about various "missing methods". Other planets seems to behave normally, except for Venus that has the same red corona when viewed against the Sun.

Just in case, ksp 0.90 is 32bits, EVE Overhaul is the latest for 0.90 and RVE is the 0.90 version that i found on pingopete's repository on Github. Other than that, i have also Texture Replacer (uptodate for 0.90) and Active Texture Manager (basic one and same as for TR). Any help would be really appreciated (though i understand pingopete could say "you picked a test version and moreover outdated!") and apologies for my bad english

Edit: trying again with a fresh new install of RO etc etc. At least if the problem persists, i'll be able to post some imagery for you to understand what i'm experiencing!

Here we go again:

Hi, yeah those are all new things that have come with some of the later overhaul versions. Unfortunately rbray doesn't store previous versions but instead replaces previous versions, so until I can get to working with these new features and config design myself I can't offer much help I'm afraid, thanks for troubleshooting though :) (Tbh I'm surprised Venus actually looks that good!)

I'll wait until the next stable release then :) Keep up the awesome work, that Venus atmo is just gorgeous!

Thanks, and sorry I couldn't help more, it really is just a matter of getting EVE to run, and RSS to run, and EVE to run well with RSS which hasn't yet been released fully for KSP 1.0 :P

EDIT: Ok, so I think it would be the april 27th commit but I could be wrong

pingopete: Uh, sure he does. They're in git. You can got to literally any commit and download the binaries from it.

Go here:

https://github.com/rbray89/EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements/tree/Overhaul

Click 'Commits'

Find the commit you want, click the <> on the far right

Download the binaries.

Well... now I just feel dumb :P Thank you for this info!!

No probs, git is...pretty complex to get used to. :)

Nathan I'm beginning to wonder if you're even human, and not an omniscient spirit that exists within the realms of the ksp forums visiting those in times of need!
