Microtransactions and Gambling Mechanics

The EULA has ominous signs that take-two's predatory behaviour will come to KSP2.

Is KSP2 going to get a casino disguised as a game added after the 1.0 release?

Will they introduce Kerbucks and start selling OP engines and skins and mid flight refuels?

It says any mod belongs to the company, not the creator. They are collecting any and all of your personal information to sell to 3rd parties.

The EULA is filled with warnings about the worst business practices we know the gaming industry has been subjected to in recent times.

I'm not buying in yet partly because of how awful the game is right now, but mainly because I can't take a chance of supporting any title that has gambling and microtransactions in it.

Have they ever said definitively that KSP2 wont get crammed full of TTs general business model?

I think the EULA is something T2 slaps onto all their products to essentially give themselves an out to do literally anything they could legally imagine doing.  It's not necessarily indicative of any future planning on Intercept's part.   But it is an indicator of T2's overall business ethics and litigiousness.  If you look at KSP1's most recent credits, the # of people in the legal credits section seems to dwarf the # of dev credits.

You ever consider that T2 may have a boilerplate EULA, they just swap names in? They run gta after all.

Yes I've considered it. It's why I'm even asking. If they had just come out and said we are adding in a casino and calling it surprise mechanics I wouldn't bother coming to the forums and asking questions. I would just take the game off my wishlist and talk excrements endlessly about the game anytime it came up in the hope I could dissuade purchases. Like EA games. Been free of buying any EA game since Sim City which was what...? about 2013 or something?  They will never get another cent out of me again.

As it stands I'm just asking if there has been any statements that they definitely won't be adding any of these scummy methods of cash extraction?

Meh, y'all are way too optimistic.

I bet that T2 is going to come in and break your kneecaps if you don't pay enough to get to the Mun.

So, don't pay them for that and play the game, instead?

Vigilance about your rights and personal data is ok, but a ZOMG reaction to any time those words get mentioned is not good for your mental well being.

Many years ago, a photo sharing website called "Flickr" was under attack because "they're trying to steal the copyright of your photos." Turned out their EULA contained an omission and they updated it, requiring your permission to reproduce photos for the purpose of showing them on your Flickr page so you can share them. Technically they were in violation of copyright law by not requesting such permission, and waiting to be sued by some jerk, and they were simply fixing that.

When the whole Red Shell thing erupted I took a good look at the EULA. And surely they do ask for permission to access your name, email and even credit card number. And share that with third parties. Guess what, that's needed if you want to pay for the game. And then they have to hand off that number to your bank for the actual transaction. That's not to say that it's paranoia to read the EULA, but in most cases the outrages over what is collected are over things that turn out to be rather benign and simply needed for the business transactions to sell the game.

And as mentioned, those EULA's are boilerplate that cover every game sold by the publisher. So theoretically there could be slot machines at the KSC. The likelihood about that is about as close to 0 as you can imagine though.

The reason there won't ever be one is because it will be buggy too, and the publisher will quickly go kaput over payouts :D

Now waiting for somebody to build a working slot machine, stick it on the launchpad and pull the lever to fire Jeb into space when the player gets three rockets in a row.

The enforceability of that clause is suspect, esp. when it comes to original artwork someone may make available for use in the game.
