  1. I dunno. We've already crossed the line into non-replica territory, pretty far in fact judging by the fact that the Shepherd only has one nozzle. Despite that there are probably baby SRBs somewhere in the upcoming parts that could be used for such things. We cover most of the same stuff as FASA - indeed, FASA is a primary inspiration for this mod. You do get early big rockets - full size 1.25m rockets at the first rocketry node, 1.5 and 1.875m rockets at the second one. Because BDB doesn't exclusively used stock sizes and instead makes use of new intermediate sizes, the scaling of the parts is more accurate in most regards. Atlas and Titan are 1.875m in diameter, for example, which matches KSP's 0.625 or 0.64 scale (depending on who you ask, I round to whatever is more convenient for a given part). All the tanks are balanced to have the same fuel/mass/volume ratio as stock parts. On the other hand, because BDB in its current state includes so many parts, it is a good deal more confusing than FASA. And the update I just began working on is set to double the number, which exacerbates the problem. We also don't have things like Saturn and Apollo yet, though they are planned. I'm saving them a bit, partially because I like to disappoint people that make requests and partially because I want to give my skills more time to develop before I start to tackle something so big, that way I hopefully won't have to redo it. So that's more or less a run down of the difference between BDB and FASA. BDB is scaled more accurately, is more stockalike in art style and balance, does not yet include later programs like Apollo, but does include a greater variety of parts for earlier US rockets. Why do I feel like this thread always blows up every time I try to force myself into taking a couple days off? EDIT: Hey guys, one more dev release before the update! I realized I had forgotten to do the compatibility configs for this update, which have been redone by @Jso. @VenomousRequiem included some new RP configs that got lost in the confusion of trying to finish the Titan parts. The cameras and ion trap now have full sciencedef configs thanks to @drekerb42. Let me know if there are any issues - I plan on releasing on Thursday if all goes well! EDIT2: The mass of the Crius nose probe core has been nerfed (buffed?) to 0.33t from 0.05t. I accidentally let it stay too light. If there are any more issues with part masses please let me know. The recent balance pass focused on the fuel tanks and engines, and did not affect the other parts such as probe cores. EDIT3: Yikes! Looks like I was lazy when it came to taking screenshots of the Titan launches... I'll have to take some. But going back through the screenshots from the last month of the thread, there have been some great screenshots taken! I've started assembling them into an album to be shared once the update is released.
  2. Any screenshots or sketches? EDIT: Also have you seen Universal Storage? It may be possible to integrate the two mods together.
  3. The latest dev release is the entire release + PFairings (which I don't feel comfortable including, since they're only sort of halfway done). So as long as you're not using PFairings, well, you're set I think.
  4. Am I correct in saying that @curtquarquesso 's animated docking ports avoid this issue by leveraging the magnetic ability of docking ports, and simply animating the colliders?
  5. Let's try and keep to posts that have a little more substance, ok guys? It's all well and good that there's a little community or something popping up around the stream, but I'd rather it be kept elsewhere. For those that haven't been tuning in, here's one of the things I worked on tonight:
  6. So this happened on my stream...

Personally I'm a big fan of the design but I think a lot of people would rather see the canon Gemini module :S

      Angelo Kerman

That's the advantage of being the artist. :)

Ya know, it kinda looks like an X-wing + Gemini.

  7. *plays taps* You will be missed, brother. Stream is live, I'm still getting set up at the time of posting but we'll be rolling soon. Remember that it's a new link.
  8. ^^ Stream will start in roughly an hour. I counted out all the things that are listed as being made for BDB 0.1 update... it totals OVER 100 NEW PARTS. Meanwhile, BDB 0.09 (the upcoming one) has I believe >50 new parts if you count the Thor parts as being new. So, yeah. Part bloat. I'll have to figure out some new methods to keep the mod organized.
  9. Doesn't it make more sense to use the 1.875m Muo fairing base? That's why I didn't include a true 1.875m fairing base for Titan.
  10. I tried listing all the parts for the >>next>> update (not the one that is releasing soon) and I stopped around 50 parts in T.T The upcoming update is probably about the same, probably more if you count the fact that Thor was completely redone. There's just so much I want to do so I push so hard to finish what I'm working on so I can start on the next thing. On top of that, my social plans have had an annoying habit of falling apart since coming back from winter break so this is just what I do most evenings now. EDIT: So, recently something was mentioned that I've been considering lately. Would there be any interest in creating a Patreon for BDB? It would probably be on a release basis (though I try and do releases about monthly) and naturally I'd redouble my efforts to make updates as polished as possible. I'm curious if there is anyone here that would be interested in contributing. Obviously all the releases for BDB (including dev releases) would still be freely available through the normal means. I'd just appreciate some help getting bills paid
  11. Very cool! I will probably include one or two of the images of Delta / Daleth in the OP album - I don't feel comfortable adding too much of the probe since it has RLA Stockalike parts and I don't want to give people the impression that those parts are included! If I could make some more requests - If you could make small albums of the canon versions of each launcher so that I can pick a screenshot of each to put in the OP, similar to how @Beale has in the Tantares OP. Off the top of my head: Mercury Redstone (I believe you've done this already?) Mercury Atlas Vanguard Able Thor Able Thor Ablestar Thorad Agena Atlas Agena Atlas Centaur Titan 1 (with the warhead) Titan 2 (We have this already too right?) Titan 3A Titan 3C Titan IVA/B Mercury in orbit Transtage in orbit Delta K in orbit maybe some cool probes if you have some, but keep them all BDB parts I just need the launch for the LVs, don't care about seeing the payload for them. I glanced at the album in the OP and it's about two updates old now... And I can't figure out how to get visual mods to work for taking screenshots
  12. Trains still aren't running here so my plans are, again, cancelled. I might start UV unwrapping the new stuff, but it'll probably still mostly be modeling.
  13. Dev streaming again today, getting more modeling done for the next update! EDIT: Twitch broke and I had to make a new account. Make sure you have the new link!
  14. Well, thanks to the weather I'm stuck noodling around in Maya tonight. Stream, etc, etc. EDIT: OOPS
  15. Jeesh. If you need venera Tantares has a fine one.
  16. I decided that the Dioscuri boosters were too small to warrant allowing surface attach but I can change that. Also, on a more general note, the PF parts will not be included in the next official release, mostly because they're still experimental. EDIT: Saw this when I woke up but forgot to comment. So does this include things like Ullage requirement, limited ignitions, etc? If so you've made my day haha. EDIT2: Wanted to get my thoughts organized a bit, so I wrote down as much as I could think of for things coming in the next update. Juno, Diamant, Gemini, and probes. Yum yum yum. I've put the tentative list in a pastebin for anyone interested. Please note the list is not final.
  17. I forgot to set them in the first Delta dev release. They were set in the one last night. Thanks for the RP configs, I just downloaded them.
  18. Done. EDIT: The last dev release is here! It will be left up for about a week so y'all can report bugs, and then it will get pushed into a full release.
  19. Streaming again tonight. Trying to finish up the todo list for this update - we're in the home stretch!
  20. That's my point. The Delta 2 uses 9 SRBs. You can go up to 9 with the editor extensions mod (or even further), and at any rate you'll often want to attach in multiple 3x symmetries anyways.
