  1. The stock reflective shader is a joke I don't know yet. I won't add TU as a dependency, and the stock shader is bad. (see above) Not sure yet. It's a tradeoff between ease of building and flexibility. As of now I think at the very least the legs are going to be separated this time. I personally, am not. There's a chance someone else might make one. It's one of those things that doesn't really lend itself to working in KSP; you can't really pack a rover in the bay unless it folds, which... yeah. Some people have suggested sorta doing a Packrat type rover now that the stock KAS thing is in? But for now, if nothing else, I'm just focusing on getting the existing parts remade. The light thing is news to me. I'll have to keep it in mind I guess, I'm redoing those parts anyways. I just checked the new Saturn models, the rotation of the engines on the S-1C is correct. I'm being pretty diligent about confirming the real position and orientation of details this time around. Blue arrow is the CSM Hatch side, red arrow is towards the LUT.
  2. I don't think we actually have one anymore, closest thing would be this. Another day, another LM stream. Working on the engines, SLA, and the last of the antennas today (probably).
  3. Hey, just a small heads up, but I'm planning on doing a dev stream tomorrow morning. Hope to see some of you there!
  4. Yeah, the LM (by the time it flew it was simply the Lunar Module, LEM would be a useful distinction for referring to the developmental models but not enough people would make that distinction) is modeled off of some really good orthographics I found from NASA. With that said, pretty much the entire ascent stage needs some serious work getting the topology of those silly panels to be right. The windows probably also need to be redone, the geometry is disgusting right now I did start on the dishes though, and I modeled the plume deflectors in. They won't be baked into the AO this time, and will be a simple toggle.
  5. Hmm, there appears to be something missing from the Saturn/Apollo revamp. Better fix that...
  6. Probably want to use a Thor or Jupiter first stage then. Probably not, the current update is the aether and hasn't told me whether all its bugs are fixed or not Speaking of not knowing what's going on with the current release, I realized I haven't posted the current state of the Apollo CSM: This weekend I think I'd like to start on the LM? Since I want to get everything basically modeled so that I can verify everything fits together, before I actually start texturing. Last night, Apollo the Gecko was helping me do some research on it. As I pondered, my assistant gave me some inspiration: Henceforth, the LM shall be known in BDB as the Munar Landing and Excursion Module, or MLEM.
  7. The Redstone is a fairly anemic rocket, so I'm not surprised you're having trouble getting a useable upper stage + payload into orbit. Maybe try replacing it, or at least the engines? Never too late to learn
  8. Well, IRL you're usually designing payloads to fit the LV - so if you have a bunch of spare weight, usually that just means the payload doesn't have to be scaled back / receive as much weight savings as otherwise. Overall I wouldn't think that a probe payload wouldn't effect the TWR of the LV that much, if that's your problem..? EDIT: Oh, also, Apollo dev stream starting!
  9. Jamestown - I could see it being added some day, but no time soon. Once the Saturn/Apollo revamp on the essential parts is done, I'd rather get more LM variants than something completely new. Sea Dragon - Uh, sorry, no. I'm not interested in making stuff on that side of the AM/FM divide If I had my way, they'd all have realistic throttling Not like it makes it particularly more difficult. Also, heads up if anyone is around, I'm planning on streaming for a couple hours this afternoon once I take care of my housework. (Sorry, Pappy)
  10. Think I found the issue - here's the one that "should" be 3.125m - see the launcher it's spec'd for? The current one in BDB is based more on this drawing (which is the cover art for the Big G '69 report, btw, so I trust it more)
  11. I mean, yeah it'll need a pilot's window? And I tried it at 3.125m and the proportions were all whacky. It really needs to be more like the "expanded 2.5m" is is now.
  12. Big G '67 (conical Big G) needs to be scaled to the new Saturn parts, which will be bigger than currently. So I've been holding off on making it
  13. I always just fly them normally until the final approach, doing a flip+control switch a short (but safe - once you've aligned with the port but before final approach) distance from the docking node. You're right, aren't you? The "cylindrical" Big G is supposed to have retro solids... I suppose it will have to be redone from scratch, but that will have to wait until after the Saturn revamp, when I tackle the "conical" Big G as well. Also, small Apollo update, but I did model out the new HGA array for the CSM. I tried marking out the axis it will rotate along to track Kerbin once deployed.
  14. lol i forgot to post an update from yesterday lol. Y'all don't want to know how painful some of that geometry was...
  15. Alright everyone, I'm about done working for today, but me and @Beale are going to try and play some Age of Empires on Stream. Starting in a couple minutes!
  16. Uh hey everyone I'm alive And I'm going to try and dev stream both days this weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to start getting a little momentum back. I also might try and play Age of Empires II with @Beale on stream one of the two days so swing by for that. Focus this weekend will probably be blocking out the model for the new Apollo CSM.
  17. Yeah I think what it was, originally I assumed the Agena B had a tank length between the A and D? And so I just made one - I think there were only actually 3 lengths of tank, just multiple skins. Eventually it turned out there was only two lengths, which is what I made in the remake. It crossed my mind to remake the middle tank length but I think I didn't have time or the model didn't lend itself to being cut up that way or whatever. And yeah, I totally can see how the other menus are useful. I usually don't have to use them since I know what 'simple' tab to look for everything in But that also means I wasn't looking in there to notice the old parts still showing up. Like Zorg said, the most recent update was sort of start/stop developed over a year with all of us having variable time to commit to the mod. We mean well but there's a lot that can slip through the cracks.
  18. Overall the number of parts grew, but that's why we started using the B9 part switches more to merge simpler parts when possible. Generally it was less stripping content and more just a restructuring of how things are built. I think I see the fairing base, two rows above the cardboard box. (Is that the AKI one I made years ago? I'm pretty sure that mod stopped being supported when Breaking Ground released) And wouldn't the avionics be in the uh. Pods tab? The one with the probe cores (since that's what it is). Again, curse my lack of actually playing KSP these days, I didn't catch that Command and Control meant the RCS tab.
  19. In response to the first - no, that is correct. There are fewer Belle tanks than before but I think the mod has more 0.9375m tanks as a whole now. Not every part received a 1:1 replacement in the update, for a variety of reasons. In this case I think it was simply that there were only two historical tank lengths. The new parts don't automatically replace the old ones (since we had to leave the old ones in to not break old crafts). You need to rebuild the crafts using only the new parts. By viewing in the "advanced" mode (is that what the other sorting methods are called? I've never really used them), you've exposed something that we were unaware of - the old deprecated / hidden parts are still showing up there. They shouldn't be used and any crafts using them should be replaced if possible, since those parts will eventually be deleted and the crafts will stop loading. The parts should (in theory) have their status clearly stated in their names/descriptions in case you run across them. The fuel tanks tab in your last screenshot looks correct (I think), are you sure the new versions of the avionics and fairing base aren't showing up?
