  1. Any reason why the SAS disappears? I create a node to circularize my orbit, click on the node tracking, make my burn. Click the green check on the right of the navball when it's within 0.1, and all of the tracking options on the left vanish. nevermind SAS evidently turns itself off when you complete a node, and hitting the T key brings it back.
  2. This. I wonder if the OP also gets upset at the flavor text when you hover over parts in the VAB/SPH. Some people aren't happy unless they have something to complain about it seems.
  3. I've had them already captured. No aerobraking required. Monitored them from the Space Center and they stayed in orbit for years.
  4. This. I'm right handed, but was taught, still fly, and now teach others to fly airplanes left handed. (Of course the fun part is sitting in the instructors seat I have to fly right handed, and it's now harder to do so than left. Muscle memory and all)
  5. Does the J in the designation stand for Junk?

4 seconds/minutes/hours/weeks/days/years/eons from the start of the universe.
  7. I don't think time dilation has anything to do with it. The slugs would get eaten away by the air molecules just like the baseball. The solution is larger slugs.
  8. I wish teachers and professors adhered to this. I can't tell you how many "Well, I went to Stanford Business school" responses I've heard from people who have zero clue on how a business actually runs.
  9. Way back in the day I used Netscape. Then went to IE, then went to Chrome. Then Google decided it wanted to catalog everything about me, ever. I then went to FireFox, and have used it ever since.
  10. You're better off with Silane. Though there are issues with that as well. For some fun reading look up the MSDS sheets for Silane, Disilane, Trisilane, and Tetrasilane.
  11. I had this happen today, but I wasn't in a plane. I was returning from Moho and about 300m over the launch pad. 'Chutes opened, no time warp going on, then suddenly my HH module explodes, along with the 4k battery, large reaction wheel and probe core. The LV-N engines, and chutes attached to them floated all the way down to the surface. I had done no quick saves, no reverts, no switching of vessels other than the [ ] keys, no going back to the tracking station, nothing up to that point. Basically stayed with the same craft the entire time.
  12. I went to Moho and back. Only to have a bug strike at about 300m above KSC. All is well, parachutes are opened, vertical speed is around 8m/s, then suddenly the HH module explodes. Jeb and Bill killed.
  13. There needs to be a financial/energy resource reason to go, and that's not going to happen anytime, ever, since Mars has nothing in terms of energy resource, and the market for Mars gemstones I don't see ever being lucrative. Don't count on anyone leaving Earth's orbit any sooner than 2063.
  14. I like the Poodle, and have used it for: Upper/Mun-Minmus transfer stage Transfer stage to Duna Lander engine for an Mk2 lander Injector engines at Moho Yes, I could use 48-7S or LV-909 cluseter for better dV on the transfer stages, but the problem is those two engines don't fit nicely inline with 2.5m parts. I have gravitated toward 2.5m parts recently, and the Poodle fits the bill better than the others. The 0.625m and 1.25m engines don't have engine shrouds that go between 2.5m tanks well, the double/tri/quad adapters don't stack on top of a Mainsail/Skipper lifter, or you have to install 2/3/4 decouplers, flip another double/tri/quad adapter, and then another decoupler, then then the 2.5 stage. That doesn't work for me. But, Ed, you you just put radial 48-7S or LV-909 engines on your 2.5m stack! No, just no. Engines hanging off the sides not directly attached to a fuel tank just do not look right at all. I also don't like installing lander cans upside down on my stages, and as mentioned I don't like the naked radial engine, so that also leaves out what would be the "perfect" engine for what I want to do most times - the aerospike. So, enter the Poodle. I can stack it seamlessly, and it fits perfectly on the bottom of a RockoMax -8 tank for a lander. I almost always use the heavy duty landing legs, and those have the right length to clear the Poodle's profile. However, the lander can end up being too tall, and I do often go with radial 1.25 fuel tanks and engines on the Mk2. Wider is better on a lander. My best use of the Poodle ended up being injection burn at Moho. While clustered LV-N's would have worked, they were, well, clustered, and fell into the issue mentioned above with the LV-909 and the 48-7S clustered engines. The Poodle provided the right amount of thrust and dV to inject at Moho. No other engine would have worked and kept the look I wanted. I don't think the Poodle needs to be changed at all other than maybe a slight weight reduction, to increase the dV and give it a better niche. However, I think what is needed is a low profile (even more so than the Poodle) 2.5m 120-150kN engine with ~400 ISP, that is able to have a decoupler put on it.
  15. Edit the persistence file. Should be one first lines. I just closed down my KSP computer, or I'd find you the exact line to change. It's actually pretty simple. Something like UT = 123456789.0
  16. You can always right click a chute and redeploy it after it's been repacked, which is what I do when I use them more than once.
  17. On MechJeb ascent guidance, limit the angle of attack. This prevents from tipping too far too fast.
  18. I don't think I have ever run into this issue, and I probably have 1500 hours of game play.
  19. I use Bing because I've determined that Microsoft is now less evil than Google. I also do not have a Bing account. I also use Firefox instead of Chrome.
  20. No refueling of the lander? I think that's impossible. That would require over 31,000 dV just for the landings/ascents. Then it needs to be hauled around.
  21. I've landed on all the bodies in the game. (except Jool and Kerbol) ...also with 2 man lander cans. I've returned from all bodies in the game. (except Jool and Kerbol) ...also with 2 man lander cans. I've collected all science at least once. I've "won" the science mode. I've "won" career mode. I've put permanent bases on Laythe, Duna, Eve, Mun and Minmus. I've ascended from sea level on Eve multiple times. ...also with 2 man lander cans. I've done the Jool-5 challenge. I've built an SSTO that can go to Duna and Laythe and back. I've built space stations. I've done done a mission to every body in the game without reverting or quicksaving. I've built craft large enough to crash my computer. ...without leaving the VAB. I've gotten to orbit on less than 30 units of fuel. I've built a craft specifically to use every part in stock. I've landed non space planes without chutes at KSC (before KER had the suicide burn calculator.) I've been to every biome. I've "left" the Kerbol system. (well, in stock you can't really leave it) Now I just futz around in sandbox building minimalist craft to go [wherever], what else is there to do?
