Relevant link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0I-wFTMBCk Scott Manley had to crank down the clock cycles in order to get his (opposite orbital direction) crafts to actually collide.

Lowest Stable Orbit for Large Space Station
klesh replied to Castille7's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The higher the orbit of your station, the more forgiving a target it is for rendezvous. You want plenty of vaccum space below the station, so you dont have to approach the station while still in the atmosphere. -
Thank you! I know its not impressive to most people here, what with their giant efficient ships all mathed out to perfection but I only had a few hours to spend and enjoyed myself.

Its times like these that I feel old. Pokemon came out when I was a junior in highschool, and then it was a game "for kids". Its not something I've ever been interested in, and seeing adults (who were kids back then) into it makes a fella feel ancient. Whats essential for some, is nothing to others. My granmother had no idea who Luke Skywalker is. Same goes for Harry Potter, thats like a kids book to me. I was in college when that came out. /offmylawn

Correct! I am in fact my only child.

I just did a nice little Juno mission to Jool tonight. Posted some screenies in the mission reports section, check it out.

Hi, I enjoy recreating space stuff as much as the next Kerbal player, and with Juno in the news after its successful capture at Jupiter, I thought I'd give it a go in KSP. It turned out surprisingly good. This is what I would call a pretty quick and dirty recreation. I'm on a laptop where I have to turn alot of settings down, especially textures, so apologies for that. I don't have lots of hours to devote to research, and I don't really play KSP that way. I like to accomplish cool things, but I don't stress out about them. I think i did a pretty reasonable job on this one, with just stock parts and tweakscale. The greebling on Juno itself has about 3 minutes worth of looking at a google image and slapping on the science parts and anything that would look groovy. Don't blame me if the JIRAM is offcenter or something. Yes, there only 4 SRB's, I'm not gonna fiddle that much! Enjoy! Here is the final orbit, I forgot to include it in the album.

1,000 was big for me. 1,171 now and counting. Several hundred more than my next closest playtime totals.

Kol, or Suun would be fine by me. I wish people would stop using Kerbonauts. That one bugs me.

They'll learn pretty quick that despite its name and fancy-graphics-announcements, that KSP is still in a Beta (than ever!) phase.

Its very telling, these diagrams, and "getting it". Once you do get it, it all makes sense and is easy to do, but trying to read about it without being in a classroom and having someone to bounce questions off of makes it far more difficult. Imagine trying to write out step by step instructions for driving to the store for a cup of coffee. You'd include minutia that becomes automatic to your brain after you know how to do it. (If parking spot <A> is taken, proceed radially until you reach parking spot <B>, etc) It clicked for me by watching Manley do it.

I think console gamers are used to that being the norm for them.
-
Very strange. Got any funky mods that might be causing that?

Might I suggest Minmus for your initial experiments before you go interplanetary. The low gravity there and large swaths of completely flat "lakes" (hope a nice ore concentration is on one of them) make it an idea place to hone your landing skills and test out your mining rig. Its slight inclination makes it harder for some folks to get to, but you can negate that by simply aiming to meet up with it at it's ascending or descending node, so its right on your equatorial plane.

I have no idea about heat either, and Ive been playing the whole time. Just slap some radiators on things, big ones, little ones, till they look rad. The refinery and drills make heat, so put radiators near them. Then hope for the best. Sooo Kerbal!

Yup! It works great. There are a couple of scanning methods to look into. 2 orbital, and one surface. You do not have to realtime scan and wait to fill in hexes like with Karbonite. Be sure to look into how it works though, because you'll inevitably run out of electrical charge, or overheat etc. Also, bring a high level Engineer on the drilling rig (if you're playing Career mode). Have Fun!
-
Not per se, but there is a stock mechanism for scanning planets for Ore concentrations, drilling and refining it into fuel.
-
Engineer and alarmclock for me, the rest isnt necessary.

As far as I know the only way to have individual control over each wheel is to not place them with symmetry in the first place.

Really dig the spark engine for my 0.625m needs.

It a proud moment for me, knowing I singlehandedly increased sales for the PS4 version.

Is infiniglide still a thing?
klesh replied to herbal space program's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I will add that I havent exactly gone looking for it, so it could very well be around for all I know. Dont listen to me.
