this is a KSS issue so you should ask to the devs of that mod -
you don't even need to do that last time I checked any type of clouds could be tilted at any degrees, even those from equirectangular textures

well, you remove the ocean in the cfg so I guess just don't remove the ocean delete this line: removeOcean = true -

As far as I can tell this is not an issue with kopernicus but an issue with the shaders used by kopernicus. If my memory doesn't fail me, I remember thomas saying that he doesn't have the skills required to write a better shader for the rings but he will be happy to consider adding new shaders if better ones are provided by some other developers. And that's how the new shader was added. (After blackrack submitted it) -
I got a bit nostalgic about this mod so I decided to update it to KSP 1.3.0 I've updated all the recolor schemes and also added a couple of new ones (Minmus and Eeloo)

Yes this is the only way to get tilted planets, and it only works for 90 degrees tilt. Also, you can't choose LAN of the rings so the orientation of your planet is forced. This trick is what me an eleusis used two years ago to get Urlum to rotate on its side. Eleusis has kinda abandoned his clouds pack now, but iirc my OPMTilt still has the cfgs required to rotate cloud layers on Urlum when EVE is installed -
this is easy to check just go to the folder: GameData/GalacticNeighborhood/Configs/ and look for all .cfg that have "AddStar" in their name those are all the stars added by GN the "radius" is stored in the cfg in "solar radii" the definition of "solar radius" in GN can be either the radius of the stock sun or 1/10th the radius of the real life sun

all downloads are available in the github page, I don't remember which version is the last compatible with 1.2.2 so you'll need to dig a bit I always write in the changelog when I update the mod to a newer KSP version

it used to be compatibile, but I don't know if it still works, I haven't looked at that part of the code in a while

GN is defintely a bad choice for testing sunflares since my plugin keeps changing the flares live back and forth between 2 different flares

just tested with this setup and Gameslinx pack seems to load fine if you want to add extra stuff (like EVE or Scatterer) I can't assure the game will load as I never test GN with those mods

I have literally no idea what "mod manager" is when installing Gameslinx's mod I used only these folders: CTTP INSTANTIATOR Olei Olei-Gaia that should be enough to get that mod to load on GN

I checked, and using KSP 1.3.0 + DOE 1.9.1 + Kopernicus 1.3.0-4 (with all dependencies) I can't reproduce this issue -

@MOARdV do you happen to know where the dimming component is? I assume CelestialBody.something I can look for it myself but with the limited amount of freetime I have it'll take a while for me to find it -

@purpleivan did you return the whole thing or did you leave some pieces back on the mun? is it possible that you left the science report in some piece of equipment that didn't return to kerbin? -

your best chance is probably to ask the dev of DOE to take a look at the issue, he is more familiar with DOE code and so it will be easier for him to understand why DOE is not behaving as expected. when he figures out what is going wrong it should be easy to spot the part of kopernicus that is causing the issue and fix it -

it's just a feeling, I haven't had time to look into it since work is being a d**k lately I have no idea if there's a version that would work, if I were you I would try going back to 1.3.0-3 or -2 and see what happens the weird thing is that I use NH for SASS and last time I checked it was working fine... seeing that NH was released on June 2 it was probably developed with Kopernicus release-1.3.0-2 in mind -
