You know you're a nerd when you've tested all of the batteries and battery chargers around the house with a battery discharger which measures MaHs. I have data on how well each charger works, and the capacity of every battery. SCIENCE!

As I understand it, SQUAD wants to provide a reliable host for mods. Curseforge is a fine host for mods. You can debate whether KS, Github, of Curseforge is better until the cows come home, but Curseforge has large servers, no ads, and free hosting and downloading.

This is an interesting question. Most completely new designs use the much larger gimbal ranges that IRL rocket engines have, plus the fact that KSP aero calculations aren't quite realistic. Some rockets also use RCS during launch, especially for roll control. However, the soyuz rocket does use small fins: Because the only gimbal authority comes from the verniers. Nonetheless, whatever building method works best for you is right one.
