Naval Battle League 2016-2018
Ultimate Steve replied to Spartwo's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I have followed the NBC for quite some time, however. I might have to actually join sometime. But I did notice... you might want to change the title now that it is 2017. -
I don't have the link, but Elon said there would be a deployable cable elevator. Which begs the next question - where is the cargo door? For things bigger than a human? Ehh, they've probably already thought about it.

Yeah, it has...

{COMPLETE} Nightmares: A Jool-Sarnus 10 Story
Ultimate Steve replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I saw that sneaky edit... Hmm. I guess I didn't think about that. I guess I'll think of something! And now for part 13. The final part - except for the epilogue. Part XIII: The End- 37 replies

{COMPLETE} Nightmares: A Jool-Sarnus 10 Story
Ultimate Steve replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Well, I'm glad KSP doesn't use an N body simulation! Now, for part 12: The part that actually has something to do with Project Intrepid! Also, if you haven't read it, this chapter might not make any sense. Also, second to last part here. Third to last if I make the epilogue separate. Then Project Intrepid will resume. Part XII: The Apprentice- 37 replies

{COMPLETE} Nightmares: A Jool-Sarnus 10 Story
Ultimate Steve replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
"Now with 50% more emojis" I laughed out loud at that! That is top secret information. Not revealing who it is just yet. "Zombie Mun." I have absolutely no idea, except maybe the reduced lighting? So, here's the next part! Part XI: The Anomaly *DRAMATIC* -
That just about sums it up...

Well, over on Reddit this discussion has already happened. There are several missions on SpaceX's manifest that are heavy enough to be considered expendable, unfortunately.

what to do in situations
Ultimate Steve replied to rockets-don't-make-toast's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Question 1: None of the above. I quickload and attempt to aerobrake. Question 2: If it is a big mission that I spent two months on (I have no life) I hit Alt+f12. Question 3: The last option. Doing that I have had to rescue a rescue team at least once... -
Well, I can't tell you much, I've only really gone to Duna with a crew what, six times? Only one recently. But the bottom of that one giant canyon seems to be flat. And some of the ice caps, although I would not advise landing at the poles, because it is harder to get back to orbit from there, and more importantly it hurts your eyes really really really bad. I only went there once, a quick hop with a plane to "rescue" a Kerbal for one of my mission reports, but that was more than enough. That hurt my eyes! On the other hand, there is actually some extremely flat terrain right next to Duna's north pole. But it is only one terrain square - and it is literally smack dab in the center of the most nonflat area on Duna. Seriously. You though the Moholes were crazy? Duna's north pole has it beat easily. Also, that one square of land is literally touching the exact north pole and two of its sides sort of end in ship deleting void... well, it's an interesting scientific target!

I apologize for the long post, I got too caught up in nostalgia and did not just my first screenshot, but a lot of the early ones. My first ever screenshot: Oh, old times! 0.19! When I had a bricklike laptop to play KSP on! Remember when the small SAS was a 1.25m part? Or when the small nose cone looked like that? Or before the thud retexture? What was I thinking? Thuds as an LES with 20 units of fuel? While I'm at it, second screenshot: My first Mun landing! Oh, the quality of the textures I had on that brick laptop! I remember thinking I didn't have enough fuel to get home... but now I know about DV and I probably did! Note: The bricklike PC had a rock for a graphics card. Whenever re-entry effects appeared it just said "NOPE, I'M OUTTA HERE!" and turned the entire ship hot pink! ^^^ Me doing what everyone did when 0.19 came out. ^^^ When I realized that communotrons were hexagons in disguise. An... interesting... failure. My first anomaly! Sorry, I went a bit beyond the scope of the thread. But this is soooooooo much fun! And I'm going to keep going: My next computer was slightly less of a brick. First Eve probe: First manned Minmus landing: First docking (amazingly before my first Kerballed Mun landing): And my horribly overbuilt, first Kerballed Mun landing: First Jool mission: Also, it landed on Laythe: Oh, back when NERVA's used oxidizer! First Duna probe: And a lot of trajectory weirdness: I could go on forever looking back through my dozens of screenshot folders, but for the thread's sake, I won't. I think I've derailed it enough already.

Return to Kerbin from a Fly by of Duna
Ultimate Steve replied to Wcmille's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
From experience, that's what it means. Also, I'm not sure if it has been fixed, but splashing down does not count. Many people have learned that the hard way. -
Well, there's also the modifications to the Falcon 9 to take into consideration. I don't know if this is accurate, but I heard somewhere they had to add another helium tank to make up for the slower loading cycle. Again, I'm not sure if that is true or not. I look forward to the landing the most, too. But, hey, we might get to see some *dramatic* re-entry footage ending with a crash into the ocean!

Oh, that's cool! Tweets auto-embed!

Funny, space exploration related news doesn't usually get many clickbaity titles. Guess what I saw earlier today? On a more related note, it may have already been mentioned, but EchoStar 23 is flying expendable.

Atlas 5 - SBIRS Launch 1/20/17
Ultimate Steve replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Well, it is also in the OP... About fifteen minutes! I hope it doesn't get delayed again! -
I guess my habit of always highlighting text as I read it has paid off. (Please tell me I'm not the only one!) Prediction: Amateur rocketry.

T-4 minutes and... another hold. That was the end of the launch window. Tomorrow, then! -
Atlas 5 - SBIRS Launch 1/20/17
Ultimate Steve replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Welp, they had a bit of a problem and delayed it... then they delayed it again... Third time's a charm, though! T-10 minutes! -
