  1. Dying on my way to Mars is the best way to die to be honest. Sacrificing yourself for the future. Cool! Im not afraid of death in general, im afraid of dying for no good reason. Okay, this is getting a little too dark.
  2. Videos don't work for me too. So bassicly what he is saying is that chemical propulsion is too risky for interplanetary travel? Makes sense, actually, but i think we will have to see. If both cargo BFSpaceships explode during their transfer to Mars, we will have our answer.
  3. Opportunity awaiting its fate (Circa 2018)
  4. No im not on a profile picture changing spree again, i just changed it, it will stick for a while, but i will change it later again after the Mars dust storm is over.

You're permanently on a profile picture changing spree. Can we get a list of all your profiles or have you forgotten them by now? :D

No, too many. Waayyy too many.

Im cutting down on the changes before it becomes too much of a meme. Its already kind of too late, but whatever . After the dust storm is over i change it to my semi-permanent one.

'semi', because i will probably change mine after 9 months or so.

  5. Analyzing pictures for fun is fun. I like having a little but of insight on what is going on in the world on another world. This one was taken yesterday by Curiosity. For comparison, this one was taken 20 'sols' earlier The signal clearly has a little bit of difficulty punching through the dust storm.
  6. Picture taken from Navcam Right B. Looks pretty dusty. I love the fact that NASA releases raw images on the internet. Last image taken by Opportunity:
  7. If you approach the speed of light, your mass will increase and you will need more energy to move forward, but doesn't that mean that the mass of the fuel will also increase? Does that mean that the mass increases but the energy doesn't? Did i read it wrong?
  8. I saw firework rockets. Does that count? I live in Western Europe, the last time an actual 'rocket' launch took place here in WW2. V-2 rocket, never saw that thing fly, because you know, that was like 75 years ago or something.
  9. I could also just write a very short story, and by the time i lost interest of the story, its already done. Its almost like i have this thing called 'interest juice', wich depletes at a rate dependant on the topic. Im thinking of a story were scientist try to achieve lightspeed with an antimatter spacecraft.
  10. Can't wait for the UFO fanatics to freak out Sometimes i want to go to a place near a launch site, just so i can see that happending. But i think we all know that travelling and spending alot of money to see a launch isn't the brightest idea.
  11. Someone called my drawings stick figures , help me, im extremely sad now, im never going to draw ever again. /s Hmmm, sounds familiar. A world government that has control over everything, the population, industry, economy, your opinion... Illuminati Confirmed.
  12. I wouldn't want any Mars/Moon dust in my pressurised environment. Its fine, toxic, and has no wear, breathing that stuff is essentially like smoking, but instead of tar and char clogging your lungs, its nano-knives cutting your veins. You probably won't be drowning, but definitely coughing up 'gruesome red fluids'. Oh, and that's just the lungs, imagine what this stuff can do to your 'greusome red fluids', food, clothing, spacesuits, et cetera, et cetera. Im probably overexaggerating the power of space dust, but you get the idea. Space dust is not healthy. And im not living in an environment where im openly exposed to any of that.
  13. The fuel itself doesn't cost much, but then again, the fuel determines the cost of the rocket. An orbital rocket that uses Alcohol instead if Kerosene, might have a lower fuel cost, but because Alcohol is very inefficient, the Alcohol rocket would need to be bigger and have more stages, wich also means more engines, a bigger launchpad, et cetera, et cetera, thus, making it more expensive than the Kerosene rocket. Not related to the discussion, im just throwing it in here .
  14. I think its better to just make an account and ask the question there, 99.99% of all people on this forum doesn't know what 'mineheroes' is and are probably more confused than you are.
  15. I found out that you can comfortably house around 9 billion people in a 40km box building, and if we fit half of all Earths land area with these things, and that we could house something like 17 quadrillion people on Earth. I think i have gone full on midnight crazy again with my absolutely bogus ideas!
  16. Rockets in KSP don't need to be huge in order to reach Kerbin orbit, so i prefer stubby rockets.

    Shower thoughts

If we have a tub of balls, in wich half of the balls are blue and the other half red, and i were to pick 10 completely random balls out of it, would exactly 5 balls be red and the other 5 blue? What if i picked 1000 balls?
  18. Surprisingly enough, i don't think so. I ran it just fine with an extremely old Nvidia GT320 from 2010. http://universesandbox.com/faq/
  19. I think opportunity will have to stay idle for quite a long time so breezes can blow some of the dust off. The dust on it is without a doubt extremely light, and i think even the most martian of breezes can blow it off. But we will have to see.
  20. You don't need men at all to take down the crew. Instead of having men board the ship, let toxic/flammable gasses, temperature and pressure changes, or even the vacuum of space do the job, to either knock the crew of the ship out or force them to shut down the engines and evacuate. May not be extremely effective when the crew has spacesuits, but destroying the pressurized environment will sure annoy the crew on board. Not entirely sure how you would catch up to a spaceship in orbit, but im pretty a spacecraft wouldn't spend all of its fuel on going ridicilously fast to escape a parasite craft in order to stay in orbit, and even if they were to do that, i would imagine a parasite craft to be lighter in mass and have a higher wet-dry mass ratio than say a full on battleship, so it would be faster than the battleship and, thus easier to capture.
  21. Space debris isn't going to go away very easily and civilian ships are going to have problems with it later.
  22. I hate it when i stand on sand and my feet clip into the ground. When was that render made, 2003? 2004? off topic
  23. The Kerbal Space Program forum, and pretty much every forum is more than just a gaming forum. We have a Science and Spaceflight subforum, (wich is bassicly an entirely different community than the rest of this forum). But we also have an off-topic Subforum called The Lounge. On most forums, this is where the flamewars happend, fortunately, because of the rules, that doesn't happend here on the KSP forums.
  24. I occasionally see space soldiers in Sci-Fi have normal glass helmets, but isn't glass heavy and hazardous, especially in warfare? Wouldn't they use something that resembles a gas mask with smaller windows to look at? Good thing not many people make that mistake, and go for little glowing slits in the helmet, wich don't make much sense neither. Another thing that slightly bothers me is the metal plating on these suits. Not only does it make the thing look gross, ugly and cluttered, but it also adds to the complexity and immobility of the spacesuit. I don't want to tinker with a bazillion different parts to save my wounded buddy in combat and in space. Speaking of space warfare, wouldn't you want to capture and take over/scrap a spaceship rather than destroy it in battle? Not only will destroying a spaceship cause space debris issues, but in space, almost everything is valuable. Manufacturing stuff in space is alot harder than here on Earth, because everything has to be imported from other places in the solar system. Earth and Mars are in a lucky position, but you aren't going to find much Hydrogen on Venus and you aren't going to find much Iron (on the surface) on Europa. Why blow up a spacecraft with a nuclear reactor when you can use it to power a military outpost? Who knows, maybe there is valuable Helium-3, Uranium-235, or Computer Hardware on that ship!
