Win this one, you'll have your chance. -
Oh sorry. I got confused cause you mentioned intakes.

I'm not entirely sure why, but the F/A-18 Hornet just appeals to me. I also really like the De Haviland Vampire, and the Mosquito.

Life on other planets?
MiffedStarfish replied to Silverwood's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
As for in game, no planets besides Kerbin have life. Well actually, one other body has life, but I'll let you find it for yourself... -
What is happening is at the height you are at, the atmosphere is a lot thinner, and the intakes can't collect enough to run all the engines. But all of them combined can collect enough air for one engine. The title was a bit confusing, it should have said intake air, not oxidiser. Hoep this helps!

Just seen this, stock warfare videos are always great! If you want ships, check out my craft repository in my signature, I would particularly recommend the EX-9 Eos.

2 burns, that'all
MiffedStarfish replied to rockets-don't-make-toast's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
So you have to launch, get up to 75000m, then escape and Duna encounter in one burn. Then when you get to Duna you need to capture, deorbit, land, achieve orbit, escape and let in encounter in burn. <backs away slowly> -
X-Plane-of-the-Day

1. The mods are probably a combination of EVE and scatterer. I personally prefer scatterer's clouds, they are more natural looking and 3 dimensional than EVE's, but I use both. I don't think they're updated to 1.3 though. 2. Any image hosting site, I find Imgur most convenient.- 166 replies

totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread
MiffedStarfish replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I was basing it off this picture: (Nope, mobile is not cooperating with me. If you look up the Wikipedia page on hornets, the first picture there) I think the problem is the LERX are too short, and I've built the fuselage around them. Though the intakes start just behind the LERX, and I've used the intakes as a sort of halfway point. I'll definitely look at it again when I get back from holiday. I'm thinking extending the cockpit with gravioli detectors, possibly try and add more landing gear to extend the razor back and lengthening the back fuselage with half a mk1 fuel tank. -

That looks great! Theres a few things you can do to troubleshoot the missiles. If you haven't already, roatationally offset the seperatrons so the missiles spins, the balances out minors aiming problems and makes the missiles more stable. If you have offset them from the decoupler, they will sadly be inaccurate, which I found out the hard way. Another thing it might be is the missile may be hitting a part of the wing on release, to fix that you have to mov the hardpoint. And finally, the way symmetry handle subassemblies of parts is strange, and occasionally get rotation wrong. To check this isn't the case, turn of symmetry, make a copy of the working missile, then rotate it 180 and attach it to the other hardpoint. This also has the benefit of allowing you to single-fire the missiles. If none of that helps, I'm stumped. -

I'm going on holiday and have no time to put up a proving trial, sorry. As we have a three way draw between @Vexnium, @NotAnAimbot and @Ozelui, I'm going to let @Speeding Mullet make the next set of specifications if he wants to, as I cheated him out of it last week. -

Weekly Aircraft Development Competition
MiffedStarfish replied to MiffedStarfish's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Stunt plane it is. Week 5: Class: Acrobatics/Racing plane You are to build a plane capable of high speeds with a tight turning circle. It should have a relatively short wingspan to be able to fly through hoops. Weight: maximum 20 tons Speed: at least 300m/s Payload: None Range: at least 20km Crew: at least one pilot Cost: max 100,000 funds Enjoy! (in case you hadn't guessed, the proving mission will be flying through hoops a round the KSC in a race track, and trying to get the best time.) As for replacing weight with engines, I think I'll keep weight so as to limit designs as little as possible, and keep entries diverse. -
Weekly Aircraft Development Competition
MiffedStarfish replied to MiffedStarfish's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Sorry, completely forgot yesterday, I was at a barbecue. With the polls closed and the votes in, I'm happy to announce the winner of the Cloud Seeding Aircraft Competition to be... no one. Both @Speeding Mullet's and @Vexnium's planes had 5 votes each, making it a draw. Im not sure who gets to set the next weeks specifications, I might do it if they don't want to.
