I can confirm that I no longer experience this bug. -

I would love to test it for you, but I'm away from the KSP2 rig until tomorrow. I will get into the same situation this occurred in and report back by tomorrow night. -

Kerbal Racing Program 2023: Garage Tops
Socraticat replied to Socraticat's topic in Challenges & Mission Ideas

Oh yeah, v0.1.4 makes serious progress on rover wheels. If anyone wants in on this it will be (and has been) an ongoing challenge in the KSP2 Challenge section. This course is called "Garage-Tops" I look forward to defending first place position should anyone care to challenge it!

KSP 2 is a perfectly playable early access game (v0.1.4)
Socraticat replied to Vl3d's topic in KSP2 Discussion
I like to watch flowers grow. We planted some on Mother's day and one of them has survived most of the summer. We almost missed first bloom in July after all of that waiting. I'm really excited to do the same next spring. We have some better yard locations planned out. When I log in to KSP2 I usually think about it like visiting someone's garden in progress. This year they are working on the irrigation system and planting methods, yard arrangement- the graphic in the pamphlet showed some really cool brick work for a retaining wall, but so far it's just birms of dirt. I know they'll replace it next year when they plant the next year's array. This year I was hoping they would add some shade before the end of summer, but if they don't get around to it until next year that's ok too. After all, it would stink if they chose to put that shade up in a bad spot and have to take it down later delaying the Iris patch planned early next year to later that year, or worse, the year after that! To be clear, I am totally enjoying all of the roses KSP2 has planted. Some of them are obviously painted red and I keep getting poked by the thorns, but it is a beautiful garden and I'm looking forward to how they fill the space over the coming seasons. -
"OneOscar" legal has already made a review of Kerbal transport standards and has concluded thusly: It's crazy, I know, but what am I going to do? Stop them? Bob's the only one worried. Nothing nefarious, I promise. Besides, after the last update and failed Jool 5 test in LKO, legal sent the team back to the garage. I've been "filming" the new beefed up rover wheels. They are actually pretty awesome compared to what they have been since release. There's still some spots that sort of "catch" the rover (I swear there's a few regular spots on the runway). The best part is how responsive the suspension is, and how much better the wheels connect with the ground. Somewhere in the VAB Bob is furiously wringing his hands over implementing a safe and consistent method to reach Minmus for shenanigans parties. So far... outlook vague... hence the handwringing.

Saving & Loading Wings are Being Distorted on a Loading a Save or Revert to Launch.
Socraticat replied to Anth's question in Saving & Loading
I published this back in May. I don't think I made a bug report because it was so regular that I was certain the team had to be on top of this. It didn't seem that difficult to recreate and it happened a lot while trying to fly through the garage. I think that sometimes the broken wings occur more often after a crash... but I crashed so many times during that challenge that my madness was focused on completion, not troubleshooting wonky wings. I'm not a big UTuber or anything, so it probably flew under the radar, like this wrinkled "OneOscar" flew under the bridge back in April (Most relevant at last 20 seconds or so) - I published this one back in April. This is all I have to add, so I'm not going to make a full report. -
Reported Version: v0.1.4 (latest) | Mods: none | Can replicate without mods? Yes OS: Win10 | CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 | GPU: 3080 | RAM: 32 I took a vessel into LKO, 2 stages spent before reaching LKO, then save in orbit. The orbit line is gone in map view after loading the save. The vessel was built in 0.1.3 (I think it was before the hotfixes). No modifications before launching it. When I built the craft I knew less about which parts were cursed Kraken-bait, so there's likely some troublesome trussing on the forward subassemblies. The engine plates also seem to be bugged, so who know's if that's affecting the line at all- there's no such thing as a coincidence so I'll mention that too. Included Attachments: JeweliesTestingLKO.json

Just kidding. Orbit line is gone again. Guess the Jool 5 mission is off again, and the beehive is likely to be angry. Instead of streaming I'll be spending my night in bug reports, dreaming of hotfix summer.

2 hours of raw footage from my first experience back in the game. The Mun mission was smooth, lost a landing gear on exiting warp... that was the greatest casualty. I need to work on the re-entry for this craft now so it survives when heat arrives. My Jool 5 vessel is launched near the end. It's too big for the launchpad so it takes off from the runway. Steam told me the game was working at 15 ish fps, It felt a lot slower than that. It's in LKO now and waiting for further testing. I'm about to plug in and maybe I'll stream some later tonight. Oh yeah, and Bob freaks out again around 1h 30min. I don't know what causes that animation, but it's hilarious.

KSP2 Release Notes - Update v0.1.4.0
Socraticat replied to Intercept Games's topic in KSP2 Dev Updates
I've been wanting to, but have been waiting for this new patch. It's hard to hunt for things when you're not sure if you're barking at something that's already known or already been fixed. Besides, most of the bugs preventing me from getting further into the game had already been addressed. Now that we are past that and into the new muck, I'm very stoked to fly into the fires of krakenous glory. -

KSP2 Release Notes - Update v0.1.4.0

Two small bugs I'm absolutely thrilled to see in this fix. Don't let anyone say that using the bug-reporter doesn't result in a fix! Dude, I'm going to make some new bug reports this week! -

As it turns out, it doesn't matter what legal says... If the kerbals want to do something, they do it. While many have put down their flight suits until better safety measures become standard, other have signed a waiver stating that they just can't live without embracing the sky while facing the Kraken as the Kerbol Gods intended... In order to fight the Kraken, one has to know the Kraken... so R&D put serious effort into understanding the Kraken. These are the experiments that followed: By the time they were finished, the Scientists put KSC on lockdown after revealing their secret masterpiece- A Krakenborn Vessel. It frightened KSC employees so much that they demanded it be rehomed to the Island. Meanwhile, at KSC headquarters Tim Kerman was nominated to represent the "OneOscar" program's "Blue Angel" tribute. He's a fantastic pilot, and his hair is great too. The airshows are less popular than they used to be, but the "OneOscar" team understands how important it is to stay mission ready and well practiced. Besides, it's super fun! Speaking of mission ready, the "OneOscar" Program recently spent time testing out delivery methods and vehicles. Among them was a great prospect for future missions- Presenting the ESA Argo-Not: Good fun. No kerbals were harmed in this particular mission, but the "OneOscar" Space Program still advises against the use of multiple craft in one mission, as well as advising agains the use of cubic struts and hubs in the Truss department. Still awaiting departure is Jewelies- the Jool 5 vessel slated to deliver a "OneOscar" to each of Jool's moons while establishing a "OneOscar" home base on each celestial via flag marking. Once the program has reached an appropriate maturity the "OneOscar" program looks forward into colonizing, or at least outfitting the entire galaxy with rad little biplanes, because who doesn't want one?

Except it hasn't increased trust in the team thusfar. It's a catch 22 for them, so maybe at some point they will or have come to the conclusion that if they are going to get beat with a stick either way, better to make them follow you rather than present yourself for the beating. Hold off on this for another 24 hours. It's still midday Tues on the US West Coast. I was ready for it yesterday, because I like to be on the early side of early when I'm excited for things, but when I'm not excited for a thing I'm on the late side of early when I say I'm going to be early. Currently creating another bot army to fight the first, which is what's slowing down development.

Weekly Challenge #27: ESA Argonaut Replica
Socraticat replied to Nerdy_Mike's topic in Challenges & Mission Ideas
Trying to do a "Raindance" to get some news to drop... I'm really excited to try everything I've done already again, but with new bugs. LET'S GO 0.1.4! -
I learned how to make biome hoppers and got tired of running out of fuel. So I started making mining vessels that could biome hop... Turns out that's a great way to open up all sorts of new ways to play the game that until that point just hadn't "clicked", sort of like the first time I realized that the map view went beyond Minmus (I was terrible at this game at first and I had to learn it on console). It was like I had been in a room with a door I had assumed was locked- It wasn't locked, I just needed to take the time to explore the room I was in long enough to try the doorknob "just because I could". Now I play KSP with the "Just because I can" attitude a lot more often because I've done it over, and over, and over... and it still offers new and surprising results to tease my curiosity to try again. Welcome

totm oct 2023 Post Your Cinematics Here! (Cinematic Enthusiasts)
Socraticat replied to Halban's topic in KSP Fan Works
I hear that some people like nvidia shadowplay for recording. I really think it's because KSP2 makes the computer cry right now, not all because of the software. Have you tried it with different games? In my personal experience, I can't record KSP2 on my 2060 at all. I can record KSP2 at 1080 very well on my 3080, but 4k is very choppy. I can record Cyberpunk at 4k on my 3080, and I assume I can record at 1080 on the 2060. That's a lot of data to just say that I think the problem is with the game and the processing power it currently requires during certain sequences, launch being one of them. Speaking with candor: Maybe OBS doesn't handle capturing well (I haven't tried other programs), or maybe the game needs more time to optimize. Speaking of optimization, now I want to try shadowplay but recognize I also need to update my drivers, so thanks for the reminder? -
Have you seen this thread? There looks to be some good resources in there. A combination of this and Mechjeb could theoretically get someone into orbit with a pretty sweet camera profile. Run the flight a few times for your pan, zoom, and follow shots then cut it together. Three or four flights become one story; the fancy camera work is probably a combination of using a mod with automation/creativity and editing afterwards (maybe the camera mod doesn't need to be overly complicated, just the recording process).

Weekly Challenge #26 - Caveman Challenge
Socraticat replied to Nerdy_Mike's topic in Challenges & Mission Ideas
There's got to be a fix for this incoming, right? Warping for a window is impossible if any vessel is in orbit. What a great post! I can't imagine don't want to imagine the maneuverability of that thing in the Vacuum. My Week #26 Submission: Anyone that follows me knows that the copyright police are probably on my tail. DJ Sleeper is one of my favorite mix artists. I bought his mixtape "Counting Cavemen" back in 2010 and it's been a soundtrack for the exciting times of my life since. I was elated when this challenge gave me a reason to shout out my favorite mix! It's the perfect companion for a great morning/day/night. (Jokes aside, my copyright record on YT is clean/ accounted for). Link->"GO LISTEN TO DJ SLEEPER'S COUNTING CAVEMEN ON SOUNDCLOUD"<-Link If you want a sample of the work and some Kerbal shenanigans at the same time see the video below, Caveman Boogie to the Mun I'm a little bummed about the delay. Catch 22 situation- I'll be happy for it when the time is better.
