  1. I disagree. What if you have a spaceplane that has an ideal COM position when the tanks are empty, but you still have some propellant left after you deorbit? Or what if your mining ship is too heavy to lift off? There are several situations I can think of where the drain valve is useful.
  2. @maddog59 This has come up in the past and there's no way you'd get everyone to agree on some arbitrary standard classification scheme. What people choose to name their craft is just as much up to them as how they want to play the game is.
  3. I would guess that people are appreciative that the developers are making an effort to keep us posted on the game and its development, and the like button is a convenient way to express that appreciation - even if it's on a post revealing bad news. I doubt there are many who actually want the game to be delayed.

  5. They should build Arecibo 2.0 on the far side of the Moon.
  6. Yeah, I can see why Elon said designing legs for Starship was a challenge! Maybe the landing feet could have transpirational cooling, but that seems like it's introducing unnecessary complexity. The best part is no part. Though, interestingly, on the 2016 ITS design the landing feet did appear to have some kind of thermal protection material on them. I'm not sure how that would have worked.
  7. I speculated a similar design a while back, though instead of the landing feet being housed in an external pod, they were actually integrated into the skirt, like this: Of course then you'd be cutting holes in the heatshield and there probably wouldn't be enough space in the engine bay for RVacs and cargo pods. It's all a trade-off.
  8. Excellent render by Neopork! I can't wait to see this happen in real life!
  9. Looking back at previous releases, it seems like updates usually come out around 2 weeks after the 2nd KSP Loading article is published. So I'm betting on December 9th, or sometime close to that.
  10. Today's road closures have been cancelled. I guess no static fire today then.
  11. Seems like I've been the only person posting anything here for a while
  12. It's much more likely that it comes out sometime in December, version 1.12 might be out by March 2021.
  13. Those occasional bugs where the game isn't quite sure where you are or what you're doing are always funny. Once, when testing an Ike lander, I flew too low and encountered the surface - losing a few parts, but retaining a controllable vehicle. From that point on, the game was convinced that I was landed, despite the fact that I was travelling at more than 100m/s several kilometres above the surface
  14. This is a known bug. Hopefully it'll be fixed in 1.11. I would recommend you add those bugs on the bug tracker if you want to get the devs' attention. Make sure someone hasn't already posted them, though.
