  1. The Starship upper stage is only 50m long after stage separation. It is 120m tall at launch but the booster stage separates soon after and never actually reaches orbit.
  2. The administration building. The only function it has that's anywhere near useful is converting science to funds, and that's only necessary at the end of a career game. In my current career, all of the KSC buildings are upgraded to level 3, except the administration building, which is still at level 1.
  3. I think it's how many of your answers have been marked as the solution. There's a answer upvoting system in those forums and the OP can mark an answer as the solution if they found it useful enough.
  4. @Angel-125 This is looking very cool, what will happen if you, say, enter a planetary atmosphere at warp speed?
  5. While browsing the most recent KSP 1.11 announcement thread, I noticed this: Linkageless's post is marked as 'hidden'. What does this mean? Is it some kind of setting? Am I meant to see this? I'm confused
  6. I'm not from a country that celebrates Thanksgiving, but there are certainly things that I'm thankful for. In no particular order, here are just a few: My family and how supportive and amazing they are. Kerbal Space Program and its fantastic community - especially the moderators for keeping the discussion civil and pleasant. Space! There's literally an infinity of things out there to explore. The human adventure is only just beginning! The scientists and engineers all around the world who work constantly to make our lives and our future better.
  7. Considering it's confirmed that we will have fusion-powered engines in KSP2, I think it's fair to say that we'll probably have nuclear reactors of the power-generating kind as well.
  8. Agreed. Maybe my statement was a little premature I hope KIS can adapt to improve the new stock system further. But it appears that the main feature of KIS - the ability to attach and detach parts on EVA - has mostly been superseded by the recent 1.11 announcement.
  9. Time for some speculation on what those 'major upgrades' are going to be
  10. At least they did. I'm not sure what the status of the SMART reuse program is at the moment. It's either cancelled or shelved, I seem to remember.
  11. @JoeSchmuckatelli This is the main Rocket Lab thread: Also, they tested catching a stage mass sim and it looked pretty good:
  12. If you think about it, the Germans in the 1930s probably produced the first signals strong enough to continue into space. That's almost 90 years ago, which means that radio signals travelling at the speed of light would have reached almost 90 light years away in that time. That's a sphere 180 light years in diameter centring on Earth, which would have a volume of 3.05x106 cubic light years (and that's not factoring in how the sphere is getting bigger all the time as the signals spread out from Earth at the speed of light). Obviously the story has to assume that there's an intelligent civilisation somewhere in that sphere, but since we've never received a transmission whose source is unambiguously an intelligent civilisation we have no way of knowing if there is a system within that distance that hosts intelligent life. Contact only guesses - that's the only thing we can do when talking about alien life - and as far as I can tell it makes a pretty good guess.
  13. As I suspected, SN9 is going to get its nosecone stacked before it moves out to the launch pad!
  14. The landing gear have a stress limit. It looks like you're trying to land with a fully fuelled craft, which is too heavy for the landing legs, so they explode.
  15. They do, it's just part of the landing gear code that they lock into place once deployed. The extension of the legs is just an animation.
  16. You mean links to specific posts? Right-click on the time the post was made (eg, Posted 2 hours ago) and click 'Copy link address'. Then, in your post, click 'Insert link', paste the link into the URL field, write whatever you want in the link text field and hit 'Insert into post'. I hope that helped
  17. LOL I wouldn't be so pessimistic. It probably won't be on the 30th, but if static fire tests go well, it might be only a few days after.
  18. I feel like it was spoiled a little by the NASA coverage. No music, mission control callouts or telemetry, with the commentators trying to fill every single second with chatter. They also did an 'experiment' involving a water balloon at some point. It was hilariously cringe.
