  1. You can ignore the new launcher just by launching the KSP_x64.exe directly, so that is great. Thank you for not forcing it to launch with the main exe as well. Confirmed the basic flight tutorial is no longer a death trap as well.
  2. You are correct. I just happened to take a quick at it and incorrectly assumed the patch was also pushed out at the same time. Apparently not... how odd.
  3. The patch is out now, as an FYI. As expected Steam now launches the launcher first rather than the game. EDIT: Apparently just the launcher got released so far.
  4. Hitting an atmosphere at those speeds would likely be like hitting a brick wall.
  5. The launcher for that game just plain sucks, to be blunt. Constantly gets updates that causes problems for the user base such as breaking mod support or breaking things that worked before for no logical reason. Published by 2K games which has the same parent company (Take Two) that Private Division falls under as well. Given that it doesn’t make any financial or efficiency sense to have people develop multiple launchers for each publisher they will likely be reusing the same code base as the XCOM2 launcher, so hopefully it isn’t a giant pile of garbage.
  6. Keep in mind the heat shield on the front might simply be an aesthetic choice by the designer. They may have added it as if it was protecting the ship for role playing purposes, even if it doesn’t actually do anything to make it look more real. As @Profugo Barbatusmentioned in his post as well.
  7. I didn't read that it is releasing tomorrow lol, I just assumed it was released immediately. Also, yes the Steam version DOES come with a launcher.exe. I have never used it until today just to see what it looked like. I am betting this update will force the launcher to launch when the game is launched through Steam, unlike how today it doesn't. While I appreciate the update, if that is indeed the case then the main reason why this update was released was to just include the launcher for KSP2 advertising... which is fine I guess, although I despise poorly made launchers so it better not be another XCOM2 fiasco.
  8. I am not sure I understand what you are asking, but if you are asking if KSP1 and KSP2 will use the same launcher then yes that is very likely going to be the case.
  9. Was there an existing launcher with the Steam version? If so I have never seen it as the game never used it (Steam just launches the game directly). I heard of that launcher being bad but I thought it was only for versions bought from the direct store. I thought this was about adding a front end launcher that launches instead of launching the game directly (haven’t been home to try it yet.)
  10. I am not a big fan of launchers *cough* XCOM2 *cough* but I will give it the benefit of the doubt for now until I get to try it and see it….
  11. It’s virtually guaranteed that will be the case. I would be massively surprised if that didn’t occur.
  12. Yes they have, multiple times. I can't be bothered to find the posts right now, so i am sure someone else will.
  13. By "free" he means that assuming you purchased the game in Early Access then you get everything in the Early Access roadmap, including version 1.0 (the end of early access) without paying anything extra, assuming they release it. There is always a risk something could happen and those updates never comes out, but in this case I would classify that as a really low risk.
  14. Well the arguments in here for having FAR implemented in KSP2 have definitely convinced me that would be a terrible idea. So mission failed successfully I guess?
  15. I just noticed this now, but if they really did finally dump the idea of releasing the game on the previous generation of consoles then my hopes for this game just shot up a significant percentage as a result. Thank you!
  16. It will 100% come with plenty of new bugs. Any non-trivial software will have bugs, especially games where it simply isn’t economical to track them down and fix them because they don’t have the ability to cause real world damage. The game being delayed via EA, presumably because development itself is still not done, means you can expect lots of bugs with each release in the roadmap as they simply will have even less time to fix bugs before release. The best we can hope for is that these bugs mostly fall into outlier’s where you don’t find them during “normal” gameplay unless you are purposefully going out of your way to find them or clearly using mechanics as they were not intended to be used. Given that this is KSP that might seem like a tall order to expect people to play “normally” but the fact of that matter is that most of their customers are going to play the game a specific way and that is the play style that will be optimized to have as few bugs as possible.
  17. It is still a gamble. As with any Early Access game there is no guarantee those features will ever actually be released. Now to be fair is likely a fairly low risk gamble, but it’s not 0%.
  18. No idea. This might be one of those “foundational” things the devs want feedback on during Early Access. I personally think wobbly rockets make some sense during early game, as the space program is just starting out and perhaps their construction abilities are less than perfect lol but there should be a tech tree upgrade that can be obtained that removes the wobble, as it simply becomes an annoyance once the novelty wanes and you start building large vehicles.
  19. It has been over 6 months since the last update so an update of some kind to let us know if this is still planned or if it unfortunately got scrapped would be nice considering 2022 is almost coming to be a close. @Ghostii_Space
  20. If you read the rest of the thread, that has already been answered, but to reiterate it is because people like being able to create characters in video games that are representatives of who they are, or perhaps who they want to be. It's the same reason why people like character customizers in games, it is the reason why there are meme's about people spending a 100 hours in the character customizer before even starting the actual game.
  21. The original KSP 1 didn’t have a roadmap from the beginning that gave an overall vision for the game. As such as the game was being built new pieces were being added on in a more or less adhoc manner as the community requested things and as various idea popped up. At least in the case of KSP1 the game development was still centrally managed by a single development team, so they could at least try to fit the pieces together as best they could. Regardless this resulted in a hodgepodge of functions and features and an unavoidable amount of bugs and issues. So going forward with KSP 2 the game has had a start/end roadmap/vision right from the get go, so each piece being developed could be designed in a meaningful way that would allow each component to (hopefully) integrate in a much more seamless manner. So the OPs suggestion here would not only completely invalidate KSP2’s original vision, you would now have individual components potentially being developed in complete silos from each other in an even worse manner than the original KSP1 development. I cannot stress enough how unbelievably terrible that would be.
  22. Interestingly if you take a look at the Early Access art here: I have seen a number of people online say all 3 Kerbals here are female, while others think the middle one is male. For me the middle one looks like a female when I envision an older lady with a perm. But it also looks like a male to me when I envision a younger male with natural curl for hair.
