[RSS/RO] Hunting RealSolarSystem Easter Eggs !
kurgut replied to kurgut's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
So! I'm now starting thinking to the next steps, I've still some anomalies to discover on earth, but start thinking to go to the moon. I'm testing some (weeird?) designs now Moon lander (and maybe explorer) And an atmospheric version, well suitable for earth stuff, I didn't expected that, but flies good!- 27 replies

No! some scatterer/rssve bug I think..

Wow, again this hole in Venus!! I was checking Venokhood, who arrived to its destination, and then turn the camera, and: I saw it only once long time ago, when doing some landing there. It has to be some kraken venusian divinity dithing the clouds here Earth scientits are so amazed! (as me)
-
Venokhod in is way to enter Venus hot atmosphere: Hooot: Hot again Now slowly going down, watching nice venusian sunset Nice, we can see the ground now But, I lost connection with the orbiter (the one intended to give me connection during landing), 1500m above the surface, so I couldn't jetison the heatshield, and bottom interstage/fairings; hopefully, the chute was armed, and Venusian dense atmosphere did its job well, slowing me to 6m/s, fiuwh! Then, 3 hours later, when the orbiter (this naughty unconnected Orbiter!!!) passed again my loaction. I released the top fairing, and all the stuff. Now Venokhod can go explore Venus: I know, it's basically Curiosity, but as I designed curiosity first, for a Mars window, I was too lazy to do an other one just for Venus

ANOMALY #4 Youri arrived! Not so much to see, apart this little black block here.. Hmm, seems like a TMA, but half in the ground.. Let's check this: Getting off: Yes, this is a TMA, Youri can feel the radiations, and start becoming greener and greener Come on, let's plant a flag, and get out of here! All this travel for a little lonely TMA, I expected more, but that's fine, the travel was kind of enjoying- 27 replies

Now hunting some Himalaya anomaly, Youri is driving: Don't look at it, don't fall in it, keep driving straight! Now, only 4 km... still can't see nothing: Will be there in couple of minits!

Keepin' driving, nice deep lakes in the near-Himalaya mountains.. Don't look at it, don't fall in it, keep driving straight! Now, only 4 km... still can't see nothing: Will be there in couple of minits!- 27 replies

[RSS/RO] Hunting RealSolarSystem Easter Eggs !
kurgut replied to kurgut's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
ANOMALY #4 Finally, I've finished and tested more or less the design, we're ready to launch: The suborbital rocket, Karkarov-B (A model failed), is standing by on hhe launch pad. I've to aim to my target, which 1.200 km away, and try to land the first stage near the anomaly, to deliver the crewed rover (yes there's an unlucky Kerbal here inside the fairings ) Launch! Karkarov flys good (first stage is an upperstage of a N1 rocket) ! Aiming to target, seems acceptable: oh yes, and I launched from my nearest launchsite, which somewhere north-West of china. Reached the Karman line, we can say goodbye to the Karkarov first stage, and thanks it for all its helpful thrust! Now preparing for reentry! I hope, I'll not land in one of those holes there!! Hot hot hot! All this stuff seems to be stable and not burning Now fire the RAPIER and our four powerful jet engines to prepare to land: Almoooost: And landed, fiuhw! Now, just ditch the fairings... (they exploded when hitting the ground but nothing bad hopefully): And releasing Youri, on his motorover, just a bit tetanized after his suborbital flight: Before going, I used the remaining fuel in the rocket to try to see closer the anomaly: Approaching, 7km, but I can't see nothing And yes, this stuff crashed then: Now, Youri can go, only 40km to travel! I keep driving- 27 replies

[Minimum KSP version - 1.12] Kerbal Inventory System (KIS) v1.29
kurgut replied to IgorZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Hi, any chance to not restrict the use of the tools to engineers only? What do I need to change? I guess in the part cfg: " !repairskill ", or something like that? Thanks EDIT: I've finally found solution as explained on the github wiki -
[RSS/RO/RP-1] Kurgutovitch Space Program, the Soviet way!
kurgut replied to kurgut's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Thanks! @SiriusRocketry But unfortunately, my save was broken for some reaon I don't know about, well a bug, but don't know from where! I have done some others missions indeed before that, luna (landings/orbits), inner planets flybys, and voskhod.. I'll post this in the coming days, but then.. I restarted (again, again, and again) an new career, recleaned all install, but now doing not in a US or soviet way, just free. Maybe I'll start new stuff with this.. -
In RP-1 (career mode for RSS/RO), manned rockets are hell: Since it is manned, your rocket will loooooong time to build (realistic, just think to the modifications needed for the R7, or the redstone to be able to bring some human safely there: pogo effects/g-forces/etc), and also will be very expensive (very high rollout costs), then imagin having an engine failure in a manned mission after all this, is just a bit disapointing Without saying your astronauts need to be trained for each spacecraft (mercury, gemini capsule, shuttle cockpit, etc), and those training time are also VERY long. Then, manned missions are very rare, as in real life. So I'm working in a shuttle right now, but unmanned, you've guessed all the advantages. I'm doing it in sandbox, then I hope to use it in my career: So here, basic design, just testing aerodynamics stability when coming back from earth (I put some fuel for the main engines to just take off the stuff, take off was done in 2s, with 7g haha): (first design) Then balanced a bit, added tails fins, and first landing! Then I fine tuned all that, and I managed a landing without touching the commands with a nice 4 m/s vertical velocity : Few meters before touch down, no imput right now, only aero forces! And done! Now, I've to add the RCS all around this, and finally, put it on a "launch stuff": fuel tank+2 boosters

The Official Realism Overhaul Craft Repository.
kurgut replied to Matuchkin's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Presenting the Geminus-1: basically it's a mercury module, but with custom made retrograde section and adapter section using interstage adapter puted backway with wairings, and inside some service module tanks/fuel tanks, as in the Gemini spacecraft. So are improved: life support ( now 16 days instead of a few hours), electric charge, maneuvring, etc. mass: 2.260 kg. Here just released in orbit, doing some maneuvers (with upgraded service modules and engines to (biprollant), it will have the same capacity as gemini.) Jetisoned the adapter section to prepare the retrograde burn: now doin' it! And again, jetisoned it, now it's just a normal mercury capsule ready to reenter earth atmosphere: LV is early Titan: -

Will be launched in Earth orbit by early Titan LV: Then I smulated, and all stagging worked (didn't sxpected that because of the use of inverted interstages, which are hell sometimes in the VAB) Just separated from Titan (the thing on top is avionics, just used in the simulation to be able to crontrol the spacecraft) : Adapter section separation: Then retrograde section firing: Then detached, and Geminus is now ready to reenter the atmosphere

@Triop How do you draw nice the path on the map view? ingame feature or image editing?
-
Not in CKAN! I got it from RP-0 discord, here the link: https://github.com/lamont-granquist/MechJeb2/releases/tag/mchenry16-122
-
Not joking at all There's an option, but never used it. Ah! But we've not the same version, Lamont maid an other one recently, with a far better ascent guidance program.
-
Well, there's an option for that: "coast after KSP stage: ... "

[RSS/RO] Hunting RealSolarSystem Easter Eggs !
kurgut replied to kurgut's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I've just tested the powered landing, and works fine! As the "Motok" rover (if we can call that a rover) deployement: Ditching the fairings: Motok release and ready to explore! Now, I have to test if this flying scrap can handle suborbital reentry, and then landing. If not, I'll simply add a first rocket stage to this!- 27 replies

Check light and simple rover wheel sounds! If I knew, I would have told you that when you were about north pole..
-
A realism overhaul motobike (my first!) , fully nuclear powered, will use that in my next Earth anomaly survey mission! max speed: 16 m/s Will be used in conjunction with a suborbital rocket, and powered landing. Still designing now : I know, strange design

SO! Ive found what I'll use: A suborbital rocket wihich will do a powered landing and then deliver.. A motobike! Still testing now, but at least the nuclear powered motobike works pretty well max speed: 16m/s (due to realism overhaul patch on the wheels to limit their speed) Strange design I know.. But looks fun!- 27 replies

Next anomaly to explorer will be here: In the himalya mountains, exciting! My nearest launch site is in North West China, at about 2.000 km distance. I wan't to change a bit from airplanes (so loong!), so starting thinking to the mission design. Maybe suborbital rocket with precise landing, or only rover, don't know yet- 27 replies
