Does anyone else feel as if they saw this coming?
Fizzlebop Smith replied to Kernel Kraken's topic in KSP2 Discussion
Most the red flags predate my discovery of the franchise. I cannot say as to what signs were in evidence prior to late 2021. The warning flags that had me concerned from the very begining 1) Marketing - There was not enough Cinematic footage of actually gameplay to support the level of marketing. Wonder what kind of paper Shadow / Matt must have signed to praise such garbage at the demos. This isn't a red flag outright. KSP1 is still one of the most popular game when you combine various filters like Realistic Space Sim and sold well over 4.5 million copies. I understand a massive marketing campaign. Those that achieve the desired effect are usually related to products that have been tested / been through focus groups. 2) Nate Simpson - People will quickly point out that no individual had sole power over developement as a whole, that there was no Engineering Director to Balance the Creative. There is a particular kind of danger in those middle manager at the top of their particular hierarchy. Those individuals responsible for communicating the various big decisions / info up the pipeline. I wonder if there were conversations like "Nah, I got this. No need for more engineers. Visuals will sell the game!" Aside from that personal dislike, the disconnect at launch day was glaringly suggestive. Sale were way less than stellar. Responses from "team" regarding Timewarp, Wobble, Maneuver Node, Font, UI made it painfully obvious that community feedback should not impede the "vision" 3) For Science - Was praised. I dislike the majority of this update. It was NOT the bridging of science & career ( I will not go into depth about career being science+ ) The Missions & Tech Tree progression turned a beautiful structured sandbox into a linear orbital simulator. A phrase I stole (w/ permission) from steam "I used to be an adventurer that explored the Cosmos, now I am just a throttle jockie looking for the next killroy was here statue. The humor I fell in love with was taken to the Mun. What was once quirky and cute got an extra dose of silliness with some campiness tacky glued on top. Want to play with plane parts? Too Bad. They took a game with no wrong approach & devised a "right way to play" for the rest of us to follow along 4) Lack of Real Substantive Communications - Yep 5) Silencing of Dissent - From launch day until 3 or so months after FS dropped, the majority of my negative commentary was disproportionately denounced. Complaining about Tech Tree, Mission Progression or other minor things would result in heated defense of the game. If I spoke out about Deviation from Previosuly Established Features & Gameplay loops the oppositional stance would often end with personal attack of some sort. Discord, Steam & This forum were all Echo chamber heralding the many amazing aspects I failed to see. I was informed many times "if I only played the game correctly, I would have more fun" Now many of those same opinions are shared by a decent number of those still active. Many still disagree, but number among group willing to debate instead of repeat "it's so much better than KSP1" 6) Biggest Red Flag Of All - I was not willing to spend the money on it. It never reached a state where I felt the price was justified. I own a copy of KSP2, but was fortunate to receive it for free. The coworker I share an office with is a good friend. I gifted this person KSP1. Between the dated graphics and steep learning curve... the liked it, but never really got hooked like me. Enter KSP2 early access and said friend is a staunch fan of the franchise. When I first learned of KSP2, I was excited for the prospect of near future tech and interstellar. I thought there was a real chance of getting orbital shipyards. I wanted to build a 1000 part generation ship & preparing for the slow burn through the void. I can barely run with a 250 part rocket in KSP2 without excessive lag... much less a 1000 parts. -

Every Developer fills out an Early Access Q&A Look for "Why Early Access" on Store Page A portion of EA policy requires that communications are supposed to align across all media platforms & are also considered official commitments to the community. It allows for a really great argument for refund. Take a couple screen shots of release schedule of KERB report, CM making repeat commitments geared toward increase general communications & actual release schedule of communication Couple Screenshots of comments from CM like "sorry" or "we know we are letting you down" I know of at least one refund with 20-30 hours of play time. They made the simple argument that the developers failed to honor commitments set forth in their various answer to that EA Q&A. Also provided a series of screenshot with highlighting. By getting a human to "review the ticket" Seems like PCDwolfs advice was sound. However, I also have talked to at least a dozen on social platforms claiming to have had repeat failure.

I have wondered this very thing a few times before. I completely agree with the logic of the argument. Personally, I think preexisting organics must be a component in the new whole. I know that arguments can be made for bio-tech / nano-engineering to blur that distinction.. but always feel a partial meat brain should be required. Was reading about advances in wetware and wanted to share the link. https://www.quantamagazine.org/a-brain-inspired-chip-can-run-ai-with-far-less-energy-20221110/

Wonder what happen to original KSP after KSP2 failure?
Fizzlebop Smith replied to Pawelk198604's topic in KSP1 Discussion
No clue. You didn't state specific impacts to the IP. So i provided an example. If you want other examples you provide them. -
Wonder what happen to original KSP after KSP2 failure?
Fizzlebop Smith replied to Pawelk198604's topic in KSP1 Discussion
KSP2 developement defnitely had an impact on KSP1. Hype leading up to launch saw a spike in recorded player counts (likely higher than reported due lack of launcher use). They are falling off slightly but still remain higher than before. -
What have you been playing recently? (Other than KSP)

Finally Installed Per Apera .. kinda hooked. I wish I would have waited to start on a Friday. I'm kinda bitter about having to work tomorrow. -
I would contribute to crowd sourced attempts at getting it set up and maintained, though I lack technical skills to assist.

Nate Simpson is an incompetent Manager who has run every game he touches into the ground is libelous. I feel Nate Simspon Is an extreme Narcissist and my personal opinion paints him as completely incompetent.. is not That isn't to say somebody couldn't CLAIM the latter is as well. It would involve a lengthy process involving a chain of causality with my "stated opinion" proven to have impacted bottom line, reputation in some meaningful way. However since inam a nobody without significant period in the industry establishing my opinion as something of merit. So really is as much about who is doing the "saying" as "what" is being said.

Exiting issue
Fizzlebop Smith replied to xCHEREPx's topic in KSP2 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Run a few system audits when you close the program. I am not very tech savvy but my GPU software and AMD settings manager i use both have a feature to log all hardware & processes. -
uhhh

Steam? Verify Integrity of files. If you removed some of your mods by mistake... you'll have to figure out which ones and reinstall -
Did you hear the joke about a broken pencil? Oh well, it didn't have a point.

Though the evaluations are not mined to determine percent leaving EA.. plus the time various titles utilize the program may vary.. it does touch on it.. ( I could have misunderstood this kind of analysis isn't my forte) I also have had a way better success rate than that prediction would suggest.

Kerbal Space Program 2 Early Access Available Now
Fizzlebop Smith replied to Intercept Games's topic in Announcements
Have you be following recent news? The development studio in charge of KSP2 is getting shut down & the parent company Take Two is attempting to sell the publisher Private Division. In light of recent events, some statements from the Q&A phase of EA launch do not really hold water. I am sorry but your statements are not likely tp be true anymore -
Ennue ... (on-wee) I have a love of words. I am not bilingual, so this only extends to my native tongue.. but love things like Connotation. Cheap <--> Inexpensive Escorts <--> Hookers Both sets of words are synonyms to respective pair, but one is clearly negative, right? I was thinking of root words and prefixes.. the inert. Liker inert gas.. not active. So WTH is an Ert gas?

No meaningful exchanges with the community, got it.

Do you fail to see how having a constant visual reminder could reinforce the lesson? No one principle was established.. No from this point forward i will always keep excrementsty games as a testament It wasn't stated the title was being kept on principle. Were you purposefully being obtuse? I am keeping the title as well.. as a reminder of how a AAA company can wreck excrements. A reminder tp look for developer communication chains before leaping into EA. I cannot even tell you the last 5 games I refunded and uninstalled.. "out of sight out of mind" is an idom wher I am from. This alone would be enough to explain the situation to the library children i read to. I would probably refrain from trying to articulate to them, intangible element like emotional attatchment. I sensed Scarecrow was engaging with the community and seeking to commiserate an experience. Still wondering what engagement you are seeking.

Optimistic? I could buy pushing a penchant for cynism.. or even realism. Spotting any optimism in your posts is like trying to spot the Lunar Lander with an old Nikkon at noon. Oh.. and perhaps I should have included and "S" on angel. But I meant "any entity or group of entities that arise to salvage the IP" I have some popcorn if you want to continue prove how smart you are by further expounding on the literal definitions of my specific language.

I remember buying these Balsa Wood kits for 2 bucks. 2 pcs.. Wings locked to fuselage. There was a rubber band anchored to an eyebolt.

This is very true, but has seemed to somewhat soften the blow in the past. When you get some kind of closing statement or farewell .. closure or situation allowing me to empathize. I have seen a couple other EA go out where you could tell the developers were gutted... I don't know.. just feels better than choking silence. As to whatbis "owed"... I feel that is derived from the expectation established at the time of EA launch. Where the developers places an official statement on their store page with regard to how they will be treating Early Access. I don't feel I am owed anything, but feel there is definitely an expectation they should strive to own
