  1. Not sure if this would work in Gameplay Questions as well as it would in the rest of the Forum, but I have often seen the moderators merge two similar threads into one. You could possibly ask that your thread be merged into the older one, rather than deleted.
  2. Awesome stuff! I think I've seen the color of Ron's sweater before, something to do with French wine but I can't quite put my finger on it. Outstanding work as always, and a good idea to document your new pure-mission S.A.V.E.
  3. An excellent analysis! I think we'll at least know what all the players are going to do with the information they have before the chapter is done. In any case, we can expect both Kinlies to have a very prominent role. If you paid as much attention to the story as you do to other peoples' spelling, you might remember that (1) Bill took out the 96 RTGs in favor of a pair of nuclear fission reactors, and (2) the Intrepid is not going to Kerbulus's SOI right away.
  4. I'm not sure they'd be able to track her visually. How powerful a telescope would you need to resolve an object about 50 meters long, that far away? And pretty soon Intrepid will be on the wrong side of the sun. We'll see. [notification arrives] As @Starhawk has no doubt just told you it's the transponder that gives you the name of the ship
  5. Lots of great questions! Including, At some point yes... it just takes a lot more work, since every image of Supreme Leader Gene has to be hand-colored from one of Flight Director Gene, and I've only made those two so far But it's very, very liberating to be able to finally show a Kerbulan's face 'full frontal'. For obvious dramatic reasons I wanted that to parallel a certain point in the story, which has now occured. But we still haven't seen enough of a female to know whether I went with the Frida Kahlo look or not Great insight, and bonus points for kenliespeak! Yep, Kenlie's nap did him a world of good. Like he said through Martystu, there's not a whole lot he can do to save his friends if he's "duct-taped to the crazy chair". But you're right, Bill and his team are no dummies, and Kenlie can't help if he's in the brig either. Um, no... I'm pretty sure someone other than Kenlie wrote all those stories, and I'd like to think a reasonable reader wouldn't confuse the styles of those two authors. Ah, there we go! That's correct, of course. Evil Bob might not understand how Kenlie Kermulan can know what he knows (for which he can be forgiven--after all, even @Starhawk hasn't completely figured it out yet ) but there are multiple instances of corroboration that have convinced him it's real. Kenlie Kerman of course has the same powers in reverse, but he hasn't told anyone about it directly and in his universe, an intelligence science officer like Lisa will take "no" for an answer. Ninja'd by two replies while writing this. Let me check... Oh, was it that obvious? Nope. Although you may be interested to know that a re-textured Deeman Kerman often stands in as the stunt double for Bob Kermulan when I'm running from a savefile that has no such character. So, make of that what you will
  6. Really loved Fabien literally wrestling with his alter-ego. Wow. That was definitely not on my list of foreseen outcomes--I did entertain the possibility the suit was empty, but quite never saw that coming. So, is Fabien truly the master of his mind now? Will he be desperate enough to recall Dark Fabien if and when things go south with Stelrine? And will MechRealJeb occupy/animate the suit somehow because he misses having arms and legs? Am reminded of the Iron Man sentient armor story, among other things
  7. Hm. Hm!! HMMMM!!!! All very good points. Shall we check in with Our Heroes... and Our Villains?
  8. Regarding that report thing: suppose I see a user post a request such as 'please lock/delete/move this'. Is it helpful for a passerby to report that post with a note echoing the OP's request?
  9. Still am, life support and nuclear power. What, are you trolling me now? Yeah, sure, I'll add new colors just as soon as Gene Roddenberry updates his. Seriously though, if you can't tell the characters apart, more box colors are not going to help you.
  10. Thanks for the kind words! Don't worry I haven't finished it either We're up to Chapter 8 and still a couple game years from the Jool encounter. As far as suggestions--no, and thanks for asking. You may or may not have noticed a rant or two on that subject further up the page. Why am I like this? Well, you asked how I'm able to make this comic, and one possible answer to that question is that I feel particularly driven to tell my own story in my own way. That drive is what makes me spend many more hours putting together pages than I ever spent just playing the game; it's what has me lying in bed at night thinking about what should happen in the next chapter and exactly how to reveal the next piece of information in an ongoing mystery. I agonize over this stuff because I have a pretty clear vision of how I want the story to go, and I want it to come out in the most effective way. I'm not interested in doing all that work to tell a story that doesn't fit into my vision, and only I can really know what that vision is. And that's why I don't take suggestions.
  11. Speculation and headcanon are always encouraged, especially when it's of such high quality
  12. First off, I love that the notification just said "something has replied". Very ominous. So yes, my intent has always been to make Kerbfleet somewhat of an analogue of Starfleet mashed up with elements of the American military, Battlestar Galactica, the Royal Navy, and pretty much anything else that strikes me as awesome and/or funny. That's why speech balloons from the start used the same colors as ST:TOS uniforms, and of course why the Kerbfleet characters wear those color uniforms now (along with ST:TNG rank pins) The Kerbulans (as has been explained a couple of thousand posts ago, but I wouldn't expect anyone to wade through that much stuff to find this out) are themselves a mashup of the Klingons, the Romulans and the Star Trek 'mirror' universe. Will we ever have some sort of "Undiscovered Country" kind of story where the veterans of whatever happens next in this book are tasked with a mission of peace to Kerbulus? Perhaps, after Nimnus explodes, rendering the planet uninhabitable? No idea. I've got all I can do to get through this one first
  13. Don't worry about it, one great feature of the forum software is I won't have to see more than one such post from any user
  14. First! First rescue, I mean, and very well done You should be pleased with that ship, it worked flawlessly.
  15. Thanks guys, I'm glad you get it. The sound you just didn't hear was me erasing a long whiny sob story about my problems being internet-famous. Boo hoo Kuzzter, sadface. But seriously, there are a few things that really do bug me: --Please don't ask me to tell a certain story, or to tell it in a certain way. Hoping you see something is different, and that's OK. --Please don't post in my mission thread (or anyone else's) for no other purpose than to promote yourself. --Please trim your darn quotes. I love it when you reply, I hate it when your reply includes the 8 pages I just posted plus four words of your own. I'm sure other things will bug me too, I am getting old after all. This is the face I will use: . /rant
  16. Perfect. In the amateur leagues it's against the rules to bring knives, guns or explosives into the arena. Most amateur Brownball games are won by whichever side brings the most knives, guns and explosives into the arena. I might drop a mention to Wild Red, but no, a steel I-beam with a bunch of Separatrons strapped to it does quite enough damage on its own thanks!
  17. Sorry! But hopefully if you decide to read it in the right order, you'll enjoy it all over again As other helpful posters mentioned, the Imgur albums for each chapter of this book and the Duna book are listed in order in the first post of each thread. There is indeed a bit of overlap. Once the Duna book ended, then we go straight on through to the end of the Eve book, followed by the beginning of the Jool book, with no further nonlinearities UNTIL we reach the Parkaverse Crossover, in which case you'd do well to go by the Imgur album order in the first post of "Jool Odyssey"
  18. As much as I do want the thread to stay somewhere near a topic of some kind, I must acknowledge I've never seen a more fortuitous conjuction of avatar and text than this one:
  19. Like this Exactly. ETA: For those who can't be bothered to read the Guidelines (and WHY NOT?!!) 2.2b forbids any messages of a political nature. I take that to include statements of opinion or statements of fact that would tend to support an opinion regarding any holder of public office, candidate for same, or policy or proposed policy of any government or state existing or which has ever existed anywhere up to an altitude of 100km on the third planet of the Sol system.
  20. I always thought your namesake was a certain resident of Florida not named Jebediah, who also used the "!" (apparently without irony) in a recent and ultimately unsuccessful attempt to become a resident of the District of Columbia. (Yes, I'm avoiding going anywhere near a violation of 2.2b. And so can you!)
  21. It's a storytelling technique, so I think I can answer it here. I use the Minmus greenscreen for shots of crew floating around in places on the ship that are considered pressurized, but aren't actually places where you can do an EVA. Process is to take the greenscreen shot, remove the background with a drawing tool, then paste the crew wherever they need to be. Example:
