A Thread for Writers to talk about Writing

Val: Jeb: Bob: Bill: -
Your best work ever, I think--outstanding! This is the 2nd time in two days I "must spread rep around" because Parkaboy. Best bits: --Jeb landing a washing machine --Bob and Jeb banter RE: death. Bob brings that out in everyone, no matter what color their speech balloons --Green Kerbals turning pink, brilliant! --the shot from Mun surface with nightside Kerbin up high --cropping out the 'alien artifact' ...and of course the MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE! Dun dun DUUNNNN!!!

Alleged piracy. See below. An excellent way to remember the difference! I suppose Kerbfleet could indeed make them 'hang' in a gibbet without violating the "no violence" clause of my Kerbalverse. Am imagining an old Mk1 cockpit dangling from a bunch of I-beams and a docking klaw. But first there would have to be a trial, of course, which based on the amicus curae posts I see appearing on this thread could get rather interesting!

Everyone check your career saves--he might just outsource it! Sorry, that last shot might be a little dark. Check post #610 again: *SNIKT* is the sound a docking claw makes when it latches onto its target

I'd have to get around the fact they look identical and have the same color speech balloons...actually, that might be perfect for a mission to Dres! And Kenlie certainly deserves something good, after this...

A Thread for Writers to talk about Writing
Mister Dilsby replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP Fan Works
Yes, definitely. I think things are going to heat up even more as they actually maneuver the asteroid. We should see pretty clearly why this is hard, what's at stake, and what heroics your characters will perform to save the world! -
And the level above hardware level is the human/kerbal level Same one who let Markers Guy work in Mission Control. Poor Kenlie. Even I'm starting to feel bad for him. Maybe I'll do a 200-page series of Gregmore and Kenlie's Big Dres Adventure after this. Are you kidding? You guys are so 'engaging', the conversation is more than half the fun! Sort the Mission Reports by 'replies' and you'll see what I mean. You are the best readers in all the Kerbalverse!

The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread
Mister Dilsby replied to Phenom Anon X's topic in KSP1 Discussion
When you watch Orange Is The New Black with your wife and can't stop pointing out that, (1) the real Piper was named Piper Kerman, not Chapman and (2) it makes no sense at all that the newbie prisoners are the ones who get orange suits. -
She retired--and being a kerbal and therefore practically immortal, she could always un-retire. Right, Bill did call it the "Bobgetter", and that one was an early version. Just like KSP itself, there were a few other 0.xx simulations before he sent Wernher the version presently orbiting kerbin. Correct. If Valentina had indeed given Bill or Jeb the codes for Kranefly, she would have some knowledge of the next step in the plan. I'm sure you've also figured out that this insulates her and Lisa from Mort's "biiiiig trouble" -- she never heard Mort's instruction not to approach M7, and gave Kenlie orders that should result in M7 being forced to land. Yes indeed. Poor, star-struck, impressionable Kenlie... Props to Geschosskopf for pointing out in the D:OB! thread that Kenlie might deserve that patch

You're not wrong. Filing that with all the other cheezeball ways I can return to status quo Sorry, I should have made it clear that only Command officers (lime speech balloons) get the codes. And even if they did let Air Service lt. kernels have them, Jeb would forget. Don't make me call the Admiral on you!

No, it doesn't have nearly that much. I think I have about 8-9 km/s total vacuum dV, for all three stages. I know I could have gotten more by making the outer six asparagus instead of one go, but decided to live dangerously Correct--sorry for the confusion. All right, I promise this plan only has six or seven more layers. All the pieces are on the board now, let's let it play out! - - - Updated - - - Hasn't been written yet, Lion. I post the albums as I complete each chapter.

But they look wicked cool, right? It is indeed highly variable. Sometimes I throw a few screenshots together, it all works, and it's ten minutes a page. Sometimes I spend ten times that tweaking things--trimming the dialogue so that the word balloons fit better, lining up the images and re-sizing, etc. Then if I have to do custom art like the "power walk" one the last page of D,OB all bets are off

A Thread for Writers to talk about Writing
Mister Dilsby replied to Mister Dilsby's topic in KSP Fan Works
The whole post was really great but I wanted to amplify this part especially. Learning a storytelling technique on your own by observing someone else's work is much more effective than having it explained to you. I do this with the graphic design all the time when I look at Parkaboy's stuff and ask myself WHY is it so much better than mine Sometimes I do see something that I can apply to my own work. Writing in a community like this, and really paying attention to the other works, is invaluable. -
Well, it'll eject the outer six by that point over Eve so hopefully the core stage will fly straight. M7, by the way, is for the 7xMammoths.

Good idea, I may just edit that in. F5 is pretty much my stage lock so I never think to use Alt-L "Angels" are thousands of meters altitude in Air Service speak, so 34km.

True. Val and Bill "made" Gene get in the cockpit. We didn't see how they compelled him to do it. We have no idea what would have happened if Gene just said "no, I am not getting in there". This is an intentional omission. I intentionally leave a LOT of things out of the story and will always refuse to explain them. As GM of this Kerbalverse, the main rule I recognize is, "if it's funny and/or awesome, it's allowed".
