For Questions That Don't Merit Their Own Thread
razark replied to Skyler4856's topic in Science & Spaceflight
While I understand what you're saying, I will put forward that (even if this is not the standard sort) this is, above all else, a video game forum. -
"Close enough for government work."
-
That's exactly why I would use it as a missile. I launch the super-charged battery at a planet using regular physics, then short it out, causing it to discharge all it's energy in a short time, overheating and melting the entire planetary target. Even if it didn't melt the entire planet, then it would at least make it uninhabitable.
-
The main constraint is money. Get enough of that, and you can do almost anything.

Project Orion: A discussion of Science and Science Fiction
razark replied to Spacescifi's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Could, and have. For decades. And there's a hell of a lot of Star Trek fans that know its "science" is complete BS, but still love it for the stories it tells. There's a lot of people that love hard sci-fi that sticks almost entirely to known, workable science with stories woven around it. But compare either one to Star Wars, and "handwaved BS that doesn't get in the way of telling the story, or even explained to any depth" kicks both their behinds. Tell the story YOU want to tell in a way that makes the story work, or give up on the idea of telling any story. Guess what? As the writer, you get to determine what choices are available to the characters, real science be damned. If the choices you want to make don't fit with established science, then so be it. That's just the way it is in your storyworld. -
Project Orion: A discussion of Science and Science Fiction
razark replied to Spacescifi's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Godsdamnit, you can't have it both ways. Either tell your story and BS through what doesn't fit, or tell a different story that fits what works. Pick one and stop trying to make so what ain't so. -
This seems perfectly reasonable.

Marshall has a reproduction Saturn V stacked vertically. That's something worth seeing.

To look good. -
Got my hands on this but where the heck is it from?
razark replied to AtomicTech's topic in The Lounge
Serbian/Yugoslavian? Edit: After finding the above, googled "serbian army helmet" and found these: https://www.mitchellsadventure.com/military/headwear/helmets/m59-85-serbian-helmet-with-liner/ehmg021.aspx http://brendonshelmets.weebly.com/serbia-m5985-airborne.html -
This is a very bad wrong idea that should never happen. To demonstrate exactly why, I present:
-
"Dry" is just not a term I can associate with Ike. "Wading three blocks to get to my house while watching people kayaking down the street " just doesn't go with "dry".

In KSP career mode, you have to get into space/orbit before you can buy basic plane parts. That's not a good progression in career mode. There's not nearly enough contracts for planes, as well. I wanna get a manned break the sound barrier, altitude contracts, high altitude science contract, and a pass the Karbal line contract.

[1.10.0] Final Frontier - kerbal individual merits 1.10.0-3485
razark replied to Nereid's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The best way to find out is to install it and see. Everyone has a different mix of mods, and no one can tell you if there's some odd interaction in your mix that no one has run into yet. Of course, make a second copy of your install and try it there, first. -

The wider the rangefinder, the more accurate the range. The higher the rangefinder, the farther the range. Conveniently, it is easier to mount a large (wide) rangefinder high up on a battleship than it is on a tank. -

razark replied to Skyler4856's topic in Science & Spaceflight
As any sword deserving of the name would have a much higher mass, no. To answer the other part of your question: No idea, I don't feel like doing math today. -
No, you don't have to pay for it. You only need to pay if you want to play it.

Mods that should be integrated into ksp2.
razark replied to Hyperspace Industries's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Chatterer and Final Frontier need to be in KSP2. -
But if the fuel and oxidizer are combined, and only need heat to combust, how is it any different from a solid fuel? How do you turn it off?
-
What do you think about Inspiration 4?
razark replied to Pawelk198604's topic in Science & Spaceflight
To be fair, you couldn't be bothered to take the entire flight and got off halfway. As for the paying customers deserving wings, I don't really give a damn about the professionals, either. They're all a pain in the ass. Let them decorate their shirts with whatever they want. -
Is X better than Y? Imagine if you will, an X that is better than Y? Would it be better than Y? "One crazy idea I had was what if it was possible (is it?) to make a propellant gel that ALREADY has the oxidizer 'baked' into it, and only needs some heat applied to combust it? " So, a solid fuel rocket? How does this avoid the issues with solid rockets that already exist?
