I've been struggling with the same question.

And even if they do, check around. There's probably a supply left over from a few years ago, stuffed in a drawer. The assortment of ancient office supplies we have is quite impressive. I don't even know what the wax markers were used for. This is sadly the sort of thing that ends up with office safety meetings. Always remember to remove ties, jackets, tails, and other loose clothing before troubleshooting office machinery1. 1Be glad it wasn't a paper shredder.

totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?
razark replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in The Lounge
The professor must be in a good mood. <reads remainder of the post> Yup. Lucky students. Sigh. I do that about every other week. The weeks in between, I find I gain it back. I'm not paying any attention to it, it just seems to wander around the same value. I guess it's good that it's not going up, but I really need to get it headed down. -
Don't be. Your health is more important than a pack of video game fans. Hope things get better for you. And thanks for the update.

Procedural parts are antithetical to KSP's philosophy, and should not be. Everything in the game is found by the roadside, or comes from a junkyard, or some other idiotic origin. Kerbals can't simply call up the junkyard and say "I need a fuel tank X meters long, Y meters in diameter, holding Z units of fuel." and expect it to be there. They can't write a specification for wings of certain dimensions, stick it in the nearest ditch, and wait till a the wing they want pops up. Kerbals have always been depicted a using what they have available to do what they want. That's where exercising creativity comes into the game. Creativity in KSP is "I built a rover, now I have to get it to the Mun.", not "I want magic spacewheels so I can drive to the Mun."

KSP2 Delayed to FY2021, according to Take Two earnings report
razark replied to drhay53's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
I remember sub sims when I was 8 or 9. -
Take a break, and come back to KSP in a month with fresh ideas.

Food? When did they start that?

That's why I don't fly my Saturn V. It just sits on a shelf, next to the LM.

Blocker features in KSP2 -- what would stop you from playing it?
razark replied to a topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Like that's ever stopped us before. -
What's the last thing you said to someone?

"Yes." -
In addition, we don't know what other mods that a player might have installed, and the possible interactions between them. There are very likely no two players on here with the exact same mod mix. Step one: make a backup of your KSP install before installing something. If things get messed up, simply restore from backup.

That depends on whether or not @linuxgurugamer is actually a single person gradually consuming the entirety of the KSP modding scene, or (as some have posited) actually a collective face for all of the modders that have "retired" over the years, simply so that all the requests for updates are directed to a singular account.

Well, it seems mine is. I just sat down, and then felt it drop a little bit. And then another little bit. And again and again. I feel like I'm almost under my desk now. MS Flight Simulator. (Although it seems it's coming back now.) It has a successor, as well as competitors newer than it. But it still has a decently large player community, actively developed mods, and even companies selling add-ons for it.

No, and it has nothing to do with eyes. Cats are absolutely unable to form a civilization. They sleep 22 hours a day, and therefore are quite unable to engage in agriculture. This means they will remain hunter-gatherers, rather than being able to develop a food surplus allowing specialization of work.

totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?
razark replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in The Lounge
Today I continued my Halloween tradition: Sit around and listen to things. I was listening (as I tend to do) to a radio broadcast of Ramon Raquello and His Orchestra from quite a few years ago. And I started to wonder. The news interrupted and was interviewing an astronomer at Princeton, one Richard Pierson. Regularly occurring gas eruptions were reportedly seen on Mars, with an appearance that matched hydrogen jets "as if shot from a gun", heading in the direction of Earth. Shortly after, a seismic event was recorded in New Jersey, near the town of Grover Mills. The earliest time I remember hearing for these "eruptions" was 7:45 PM, with the impact at 8:50 PM. The astronomer reported that Mars was "at opposition, it's closest point to Earth"1 So, I thought: What speed would an object have to travel to reach Earth from Mars in an hour? How hard would that impact be? 1For the purpose of this, let's assume the best position relative to Earth to allow the shortest travel time. -
Easy Problem: Is this impossible? (Yes.) Hard Problem: How do I get out of this field, and into a consulting position that pays ten times more to tell people what they want to hear, in a way that doesn't make them realize I have no idea what I'm talking about? (Hell, if you know the answer, please let me know.)

[1.12.x] KSP Alternate Resource Panel v2.11.0.0 (April 10)
razark replied to TriggerAu's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Compatible? No idea. Working? Yes. At least for me. Don't be afraid to try out mods on your own. You have a different mix of mods from me, and from every other player. Certain mods may interact with each other, and one player's experience will not match your own. There is one, and only one, person that can tell you whether a given mod is going to work with your system and collection of mods. Sadly, she's busy with other things, so the next best thing is to try it yourself and see if it works for you. And remember to make backups before you start screwing around with files. -
Yeah, but that tends to be the simple part. Anyone with the smarts to put together a rocket has the smarts to figure out a way to get a big boom when it lands.

Everyone goes through a pretty standard background check (Look up the SF86). There are people at NASA with security clearances for various reasons, but it's not that common. There are plenty of foreign nationals at NASA centers. They do have different access from US citizens, and it is about espionage. (ITAR/EAR regulations come up quite often. Any information not previously released is reviewed before it can leave the agency. (The systems used for that review are specifically "No Foreign Nationals" access.)) The difference between a space rocket and a missile is nothing more than where the guidance system tells it to go. There is a stock of classified information coversheets available for use. SF704 is "Secret". Never seen SF703, "Top Secret", though.

Will KSP 2 use SI units for resources?
razark replied to Paul Kingtiger's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
I'd love to see the option of switching between them. Flying a plane with an airspeed in anything other than knots and an altitude in anything other than feet just feels wrong to me. However, I've become quite accustomed to SI in other situations. -
I quite often play 3. By "often", I mean I play through a game about at least once a month. I've tried 5. I didn't like. It was a complete departure from the way 1-3 (never played 4, but I believe it followed from the previous versions) played. Even if the graphics and gameplay were miles ahead, it was not what I expected out of Civ, so I stopped playing it. I don't doubt that KSP1 will continue to have its fans. Depending on what features and mods are available, there could be quite a strong holdout of KSP1 players. However, sales are almost certainly going to heavily favor the newest/prettiest version, and company focus is going to follow sales.

Are we sure that KSP is not sending back vital information? While it may appear to only send back innocent data about KSP itself, has anyone checked the timing of its connections? It may be sending back data of a completely innocent nature, but opening and closing connections timed to be readable as morse code transmissions of whatever data might be in your computer.
