  1. Kinda obvious, but I'm kinda baffled they even try that one. Don't the devs understand players won't take 30 seconds to see the difference, or the lack of it?
  2. Could any player actually report similar framerate increases? Promises like a tenfold increase are usually repurposed bovine waste.
  3. I think lens flares are at least to some degree justified in how they are basically a way to convey the idea of the sun being bright, since the game obviously can't just burn your eyes out. Actually kinda liked the flares from scatterer. While overused in many places, especially movies, that's still a bit on another level like e.g. chromatic abberation, which is 95% stupid. Btw, Fun fact: The USS Enterprise-E is armed with photonic lens flares. Which I thought was kinda dope.
  4. KSP actually uses up to something around 3.5GB. With 1.1 we'll get a 64bit version tho, removing the ram limit. It's one of the main reasons people look forward to the update in the first place!
  5. You'll most likely choose the version by switching to beta in steam (under properties).
  6. Not to mention adding another distribution channel pulls of additional staff and most likely delays the actual development/testing of the entire game, which is kinda the complete opposite of what's supposed to happen. Especially considering it's a channel which isn't really needed under normal circumstances, open pre-releases have been stopped long ago.
  7. Squad actually used doing pre-release alpha's, I think up until 0.22 or so? The silly squabbling and people not understanding pre-release basically made them stop doing it. Kind of a 'that's why we can't have nice things'-thing, even though it was completely optional.
  8. Ye, would be terrible for people like us if KSP would be chained to steam. Imagine you'd have a super modded install, and then Steam suddenly breaks it by updating KSP... ^^' I guess using steam as an updater is probably even more reliable than Squad's store.
  9. Btw, I love that Squad is doing this again! It's just like in good old times. <3
  10. You can absolutely do that! Steam games don't actually need to use steamworks copy protection in their 'exe, and KSP doesn't as well. The thing steam downloads to you is exactly the same folder you load and unzip from KSP's website. There is no link to steam or anything. I'd even suggesting making an extra folder-copy for your own game somewhere, because steam tends to ruthlessly update!
  11. Of course you can still do that. I've just done it, and I joined back during ~0.18.2 or so.
  12. Thx for mentioning it, that's gonna be my new navball. Ofc even more thanks to @eggrobin for makingit! <3 Just going on speculation here, is it possible for some talented modder to replace the navball symbols (prograde etc), to make them easier readable as well? E.g. thinner and less less smooth edges, mb more high res if helpful.
  13. Kinda obvious, it seems. Let me guess: Your BDA plane got shot down by AA rockets. Looks like a rather unhealthy amount of rockets, too. Also first took down another emplacement on science building? Mods are kerbingeneer, BDA, that one fx mod, FAR, Hyperedit. Not sure about the plane on the pannel to the left. Not entirely sure why it's asking for a crew report tho (which can only be triggered with a crew capsule?), maybe that's what crashed your game?
  14. Aside from subway, I usually use this here: It's soooooooooo good, giving you all the windows, costs and timings ingame. And ofc mechjeb, when I'm lazy.
  15. Automatisation surely has it's place, I like Mechjeb a lot. That said, playing manually is a big element of KSP, and can give you an understanding of the games system - and real space travel - you might otherwise never learn. So I mostly use MJ to do routine tasks and some more advanced planning. Sure I could - and did - e.g. manually create interplanetary transfers, estimating the phase angles by eye and lots of experimentation, but it gets repetetive at times, and then MJeb is a great help. Otoh, automation might be either your highest level of play or something completely to avoid. That's one of the cool things about KSP, it gives you an incredible amount of freedom and how to approach your tasks.
  16. It's perfectly viable to do a moon landing with level 1 buildings. If that's not fun for you, maybe play sandbox?
  17. More importantly, how much longer does it take until 1.1 gets released in the first place, it's taking so long ~
  18. Nah, I think the idea only ever came up because the juno is kinda styled/named after the jumo 004, which was ofc the first serially produced turbojet and in use during the latter years of WW2.
  19. Don't think it'll change anything. Since I started with 0.18 and it's wonderfully unreliable wobblerockets, everything about the physics wents towards more realistic, realibly physics. Might be some minor changes in how stuff behaves, but in general everything that logically should be stable will stay that way. Only rover physics will - should - be very different!
  20. Ye, i did notice the issue when I played with WW2 style planes around for funs sake. Don't think there is much reason to follow those ideas, you are basically asking for another mod. And really, 90% of the thing here is WW2 prop planes.
