    Donut battle?

    better. 8v8 and 7v7 battles.

    So, this happened:

First Du-3 vs Du-3x battle ended in a stalemate. The Du-3x was damaged but flyable, and the Du-3 was out of ammo...what to do, what to do....Technically this satisfies rule 2b, all aircraft technically were disabled. The Du-3x with its gimp wing couldn't get on the du-3's if it wanted to, and the Du-3x was out of ammo...so... @dundun92

    8v8 Battle of the Dunn!

    Bonus, 7v7 Cookie ( @Eidahlil) vs Du-3x

Needless to say, the Du-3x is not proceeding or replacing the Du-3, so the roster remains the same. The cookie on the other hand may warrant further testing once i re-unoptimize my settings for better graphics.

    Submit it anyways

I describe it as 'a really angry cloud'.

I can still remember my shock at the Cookie when I first tested against it.

The drogue chute deployment was the most 'WHAT' moment ever. It all made sense when it started fighting.

Kinda sad it didn't place, would've liked to see it sit in #3 for a while.

Probably something worth Eidahlil's time to tune slightly. its a nice change in pace from the usual. Waiting on him to submit the flying shark on his profile next.

Alright, next up, @dundun92 has graced us with a new revision of his current Du-3, the 3x. Per the norm, if the Du-3x can rise the ranks to the same level as the Du-3, it will replace it and continue testing.

Aaand judging by this encounter with @goduranus crusader, that is likely to happen.

    ***!8v8 has been TRIGGERED!*** Du-3 vs Du-3x

  3. LAAAADIES AND GENTLEMEN! ITS TIME FOR SOME AIR SUPERIORITY FIGHTER COMBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!

Lets start things off tonight with the Return of the King, The Crucifier, @goduranus' Crusader! And in the other corner, @dundun92's DU-1b!!!

In the end, this blasphemous battle ends with the Crusader being crucified by the Du-1b. But don't go anywhere, folks, because this cross between religion and aviation will be greeting our next contestant, THE COOKIE! and of course gets an honorable mention as "Pontius Pilot"

Yours was to be second but i'm putting your aircraft at the back of the queue for repeated rule violations (forum rules on swearing, thread rules on asking test dates)

new/old rule: Forum Rule 2.2g applies here (see the guidelines) in all languages. This includes the name of your aircraft.

Ah, okay. I wasn't sure if this was, in fact, the correct interpretation of what was stated in the rules about updating fighters.

    8. Once you have submitted an aircraft, you may modify the file in KerbalX until the first test is run. No further mods can be run at that time. You are welcome to remove aircraft before testing (if you build something better and don't want to waste my time, thank you). Once an aircraft has made roster, it cannot be removed from the roster by administrative action and will continue to test, for fairness to other competitors.

Iff there is any variance/wiggle room in these rules, let me know. I try to make them as concise and to the point as possible to prevent conflict. As long as you modify the file within Kerbalx (upload a modified/updated file to the same page) before i download for testing, the latest mod will be tested. You should let me know if you create a new kerbalx page for an updated version of the craft.

Hey @exbyde, do you wait until a fighter is going to battle to download it? Or do you download them right away (as in, if it's on the queue list, it's downloaded)?

Because I have another AI update to submit to my craft because I just "learned" how to fully use BDA's Weapons Manager. I figure I'd just keep updating the KerbalX page if you don't download them right away. If you do download them right away though... well, I guess I'll post up a new link for you to update (some time later).

It's an update for the PEGASys-D, so it's not in any rush since there's quite a queue to get through.

Fighters are downloaded just before testing.

So... who made the hive princess? I nerd to pm them about drone behavior.

    @Eidahlil

Alright, queue is up to date. IF YOUR AIRCRAFT IS MISSING, LET ME KNOW IMMEDIATELY!

Also, lets PLEASE try to keep mod counts below 5. I understand there are some of us that appreciate scale.

@DiscoveryPlanet Your PAK-FA is both over the weight and part limits for unlimited, and will be put in super unless that was unintentional

  8. 17 minutes ago, Box of Stardust said:

    Cookie.

    Yeah.

    Uh.

    @Eidahlil still being him.

You know, I saw the pictures of it when he first announced it, and read the things talked about it, but I still wasn't prepared to actually see it in game.

It's too nuts. I've only done 1 match and I think I concede.

There is a reason why "designed by Eidahlil" is in the mod slot in the roster instead of actual mods for his craft XD

    1. @exbyde does not use a chase plane. Results will be different when he does it. He switches between plane during rounds.

    2. Dogfights should start at 15km( not 8) your plane better have enough range to go 35km and back. @exbyde actually does it at 35km now.

    3. Please show me videos of this.

it sounds like he was saying that he was starting the fights from each runway. If he's doing that and setting the dogfight to start at 3 meters, it does not matter, both aircraft start approaching each other in guard mode. As long as the distance between the aircraft is larger than start distance, the fight starts.

3v3, standard rules of aircraft starting from both airfields, meet across the water.

I've done so much testing, but haven't kept a victory count. I'm fairly sure it's at least 50/50 chance, but my last few rounds of testing I can remember have been fairly solid victories. At the least, I rarely lose a match without taking 1 or 2 down. Seems to come down to who fairs better out of the initial merge... and if there's no Sidewinder friendly fire incidents on my team lol.

Things get a bit weird when I spectate aircraft directly and results get more confusimg; I was told earlier in the thread that it has some sort of effect. So I watch from an observer aircraft (that's the one in the pic, not the drones I actually send to fight; I just like watching in style) that stays above the combat out of their way; combat is typically 3-4km away. I'd go in closer, but I'd probably have to do it in a boat or something that doesn't significant generate heat.

oh yeah, I think that's where the confusion came in. The pic isn't of my fighter, that's just the observer.

That also reminds me, I should grab the fighters from the queue and test against them; I've only tested against the leaderboard at this point.

As much as you may see a difference between my dogfights and your observed ones, its not really viable to have dogfights observed from 3-4km away. Would take away a lot of the excitement and also up part counts. You are welcome to do whatever you please with the aircraft on here, as they are submitted publicly, but there is not a way to implement your suggestion effectively without some compromises.

10 minutes ago, Steven Kerman said:

You could switch guns to not target grounded ships since they wouldnt be able to fire missiles.

also not viable because the aircraft don't always meet in the middle. Remember, BDAC allows for a speed envelope of 800m/s, though most of the aircraft are somewhere between 160 and 325. this makes a huge difference in intercept point, depending on what is flying

I don't know if this affects anything major, hopefully not.

Doubt it. This is the first update since company changed hands iirc so just routine

Umm, new to this competition, searching for crafts to test again... but noticed that many(most?)of the crafts at the leaderboard are missing links. Are they intentional, or just a simple mistake?(I couldn't find some of them in kerbalx. maybe my mistake...)

    Thanks.

Aircraft submitted for the old thread and rabbid squirrel (due to editing issue) are not on the roster with links. Sorry

Heeeyo, newcomer here. Finally got around to making something for the ASC/ASF after a year. Have a fighter entry.

Hope I didn't break any rules. Pretty sure there's none against tons of part clipping.

Tested against a few of the fighters in the thread, so it should at least hold its own for a bit and conforms to the current Vulcan spam meta. Also I got lazy after a while, so the AI pilot is tuned to a state of 'meh, works'.

Welcome aboard! i'll add your submission to the queue when i update the queueue

  12. Slight announcement/rule change:

    1. For the moment, since BDAc 1.1 is beta only at this point, i will be reinforcing the point of not using non BDAC 1.0 compatible mods, at least until 1.1 leaves beta. this means @GillyMonster for the time being, you will either need to wait until BDAC 1.1 leaves beta, or you will need to submit a version of your hellblade that does not implement North Kerbin Dynamics, since from experience, it does not fully support 1.0 (at least the fun stuff like nukes, but who knows what else isn't exactly kosher)

    2. It's been drawn to my attention that, as an aggravated PSA employee once said, "i'm the problem", and i'll agree with that. While we are all familiar with our own form of banter, this forum is not, and some posts, especially mine, look like some sort of feud. I am not opposed to having a banter area (i.e. offsite communications like discord or starting a "fighter lounge" in the lounge area) but banter apparently looks far more violent and hateful here than intended. For the moment, all fun is strictly prohibited any mention of trolling/anything horrendously off-topic is prohibited. Creation of a "fighter lounge" area may mean more restrictions are put in place here in order to keep irrelevant/fun chat on that board.

    3. If i haven't teed off the general populus of this forum enough, dogfights should resume friday at the latest.
