Last night. Sent a Kerbal SSTO Rapier Engine Plane towards Duna after refueling and giving it a nuke engine along with another ship that will refuel it if need be (most likely). But, I might go for Jool instead since I could go for it if I have enough fuel to do so as I can get an enounter instead of doing a long wait and sling shots.

Getting ready to send my seed colony that is hanging around Minmus somewhere. Maybe on Minmus it self or else where. Have yet to decide where. As I have yet to build the basic base pieces. Could go to Gilly and just land the whole thing upon it. Detatch the extra fuel tank that is docked and leave that in orbit as a fuel depo.
-
What is the OS you are using? As Windows and Linix are two seprate beasts.
-
Yeah. Had that recently happen to one of my ships in space that I switched over to as well.. It just suddenly went KABOOM! on me and it had no part clips (least none I could see). The only thing I knew that was happening at the same time. I was downloading/updating another game and that one launched when it was done. Slim chance it might be something like that.

I like PB-ION and have been thinking of ways to get smaller ones out farther without need of using much burn time to leave. One of my SSTO planes can give a good orbit before releasing it. Less then Mün enounter sadly. The other thing to remember is Gravity assist from the Mün can save you not only Delta-V but Burn time too if you are lucky in getting a good toss out in the right direction. I have use the Mün to save me 200 Delta-Vs roughly to escape from Kerbin SOI just to have them randomly tossed out in the general direction I want them to go.

Sometime after the Great Kracken ate the forums and at 23rd April 2013. =^.^=

Not enough fuel. Lack of Chutes. Going to fast when the chutes open with badly placed chutes. Bad timing. Not paying attention to the fact I'm landing and should have stayed and watched instead of going to get food while lytho braking. Improperly built craft. A.K.A. Badly designed. Lack of Batteries power. Lack of Powerful SAS to stop spinning or over turning one way.
-
Well since this is imposable requests. How about some poles for our Kerbals to dance upon. =^.^=

Science is always worth while. Heck one does not need science. Just as long as they can get enough to land on the Mün or Minmus as those places are gold mines for points.
-
Well does this count it is SSTO and can make it into a 90 k by 110 k orbit on its own. Getting back we will have to see. At least it can and will be able to be refueld in orbit:
-
Well found a SSTO Space plane design that so far I have a 100% Successful no damage landing rate: And then got this 3 Kerbal one up into a stable orbit as it awaits a nice encounter with some other stranded Kerbals in orbit:
-
Yeah. I noticed at certain speeds if your plane's nose is parting to far away from the direction you are going. Then your craft will act like a parachute/sail. Thy only way is to either have moar control surfaces and or more SAS units.

When in doubt. Don't try to build like Whackjob. Think small and simple. Also remember to open solar panels before power runs out as well as make sure the extendable ones are no where close to the EVA entance spots. Quite easy to brake them off by mistake when EVA Jet packing back. Also don't use the 1x6 solar panels as a plank where you jump off of even if they can support the Kerbals mass.

Congratz for making it back safely without refualing needs. And dispite playing for over 1097 hours. I don't think it would be easy for myself. Ah. Slow learner I be it seems. Anyways a few minutes ago. I successfully landed a SSTO space plane after it delievered its payload. 3rd land where I did not brake it upon landing or had to use parachutes to safely land: As you can see I had a wee bit of fuel left. But, I glided all the way down with only a little re-heating of the ship. Lasted for a few seconds and was very light. The craft was able to slow down to slightly about 28-38 m/s before touching the dirt and safely costed to 7 m/s before braking as I forgot to remove the front gears from the brakes. Glad I remembered before hitting the brakes.

Why is water more unforgiving than land?
Aragosnat replied to LostElement's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
water = concreate at certain speeds Basicly water does not compress easily as say dirt, sand or dust... -
I use them and do go for coffee, dinner, launch, potty brakes, read a book or chat on a certain chat place talking about a certain game that came out before I bought KSP which a lot of people spent insane amount of funds on. Anyways. 10-20 mintue burns are nothing even when using the forced 4 x warp. Think I had either a 10 or 14 hour rl burn once due to the fact I was unwares I should have gone much much lighter with the design. Best so far is 1 engine per 5 tons of mass with 60 to 80% being xenon fuel with the rest being for solar panels, batteries, control (probe or Kerbal) and 1 PB-Nuk just because I hate burning on the dark side and ending up with no electricty as well as just in case I need to do an aero capture that requires me to burn before and after entering atmosphere while on the dark side of the moon or planet. 5% of thrust, roughly, can still be very useful. Now I just wish I did not have to have a mod that gives me such large amounts of fuel. As you can tell I like to make sure I have enough fuel to get anywhere as I have a tendincy to waste a lot of fuel to get to places. Yeah my launch timing sucks.

Keep trying til it either works or I give up as I can be stubborn.

How do you come up with your rocket design?
Aragosnat replied to Stealth2668's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Lots of practice. Lots of trying to make it look good to my eyes and do over kills. -
What no refueling? Or even with refueling not enough? If not enough with refueling how possable is it to do an Interplanatery dock ops?
-
Recently have this SSTO space plane probe heading out off Kerbin's SOI due to Mün's gravity. Going to see how far I can go with it and see if I can then get it back. 100% unlikely. But, it has an outward direction and if I don't do anything it should one day have a Kerbin encounter: Also have an Ion drive only probe which also had a Mün assist. Which saved about 200 Delta-V or so. It was going to be Moho. But, well wrong launch window. So It will head outwards too.

Do you do dry runs to Jool before the real thing?
Aragosnat replied to canuckster's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Depends on how well I build the craft in question. But, I do try and send probes out first that. Hopefully have enough fuel left over to to support any coming ships. Sadly. I have a tendency to waste a lot of fuel. On the bright side. I recently tosses a SSTO space plane probe out of Kerbin's SOI. Pretty sure I don't have enough to do a Jool encounter. But, might be fun to see if I can make it. -
Spaceplane lifters: who says you need a cargo bay?
Aragosnat replied to SkyRender's topic in KSP1 Discussion
What spudman2 suggested would certainly work. But, Themohawkninja certainly has the better one. No worries about re-entery with cockpit attached to docking port. Another possiblity would be to have the cargo piggy back on the plane. Still might have the CoM issue before (going up) or after (going down) transfering payload. -
RAPIERs don't suck!: A complete performance evaluation
Aragosnat replied to Captain Sierra's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Depends on the craft as well as the persons pc. As I have gotten flatspins just using two raipers consitantly too. But, if I close the intakes while both are still on jet mode. Then they both switch over with no flatspins. -
I prefur SSTO's or disposable rockets. As they are possable to build without mods.
-
Am I understanding this correctly? Mission to capture an asteroid?
Aragosnat replied to Whackjob's topic in KSP1 Discussion
@Sieera: I can totally see Whackjob trying to do that. Maybe one day when all are pc's are 25 times as powerful as a todays super computers we will be able to.
