  1. I was surprised when I saw the pic but I will give not a go!
  2. I've never used the mod so I couldn't say. How do you time with the flags? Post a vid?
  3. Looks great!! I too am making a new buggy, initial test are excellent, it might be the best handling rover I've ever made. It corners like it's on rails!
  4. Did some much needed housework to the OP and added the new Curiosity rover rebuild, Thanks all!
  5. Nice work man! The part count is eye watering though. Why so high?
  6. I was happy to see you using antennas for small bearings, I always get a nice feeling in my tummy when I see folks making tiny bearings.
  7. You know what I realised the other day when looking through my completed craft? I will never be happy with them.. I keep seeing things I can improve or change or modify and that is part of the reason I have not finished this in over a year.. I am actually afraid to release it.. I think that is just poor confidence and I just need to knuckle down and get it out of the door and move on. It's becoming a problem child for me.. I have made the AresV but I'm not happy with it.. I'm not happy with the second stage. It's a monster of a rocket and getting the look of the second stage when using multiple tanks is a poodle. I was tempted to just use a single tanks stack design but the payload just looks so out of scale with it it's worse than using multiple tanks even though it would be SO MUCH EASIER!!! The landers are so kod damn huge. I wish I could be satisfied with less. I truly do..
  8. You should have a play with small hinges man, posting my original ant hinge sparked a lot of new thinking about tiny hinges and now there are a tonne of ways to make tiny hinges.
  9. Thanks for thinking of me! With no time to build a new car I would use my Rage buggy: With more time I would make something new.
  10. True, I have found this also. Having said that in my aircraft using a thermo/antenna hinge without a kerbal and not at full speed rotation it is very stable. At full rotation trim it flies apart. What I do is set the reaction force to zero, trim it all the way then up the reaction force incrementally to find the sweet spot.
  11. Lol, yeah looks similar to mine, very cute! It goes up very well, all other directions not so much..
  12. I have one in testing now. Controlling it is hard to say the least.. I'm also trying to make a electric thermo/antenna prop bearing. It's was outside it's intended use but I ma having some success so far.
  13. Oh yeah I have posted about that before, my ant hinges where broken when they changed the geometry. That is why I made a replacement thermo hinge and made this thread that you saw and replied to but most likely do not remember. The hab door works using this hinge you just replace the ant engine with an antenna. I am in the process of updating the Duna direct craft hinges but its bottom of my list of things to do.. Depending on the size of the door you need with the right application of the hinge you could make one.
  14. This is a very interesting design man and a new type of 'kraken' propulsion is always exciting, I look forward to seeing what you or others come up with this new tech! What did you use for the trailer hinge?
  15. At the time I was just trying to see if there was any real issue as if it was just the origin end there wouldn't be. I didn't meant my words to seem derogatory at all. I was able to test it after hence my later post. Oh well, there is nothing we can do about the change so we just roll with the punches huh.
  16. Yeah I am seeing similar speeds and you know what? I like it! Feels just about right for something like this, floaty and fun! After work today I have a few more ideas I want to try.
  17. I made a kerbal scale one for my Duna direct hab lander a while ago So a larger scale one shouldn't be too tricky to make.
  18. He had 10 hours to reply so he misses out on.. well.. replying I guess! @Mad Rocket Scientist I summon thee.
  19. Moving strut ends does nothing for performance although I see that they did it as some colliders are about to get far simpler compounding the 'problem' of hidden strut ends. Personally I see no issue with them being hidden as they are super easy to find. I have made very complex shapes with them and never had any issues. Another thing @sal_vager funnily enough in a move to make the stut ends easier to find it has now caused strut ends to not be highlighted truly making them harder to find and grab. I checked all my craft that use struts for aesthetics and whilst they are now a little less clean looking the overall effect I created is still very pleasing. I guess us experienced players had to take one for the team for new or less capable players. Also the end points that cannot be grabbed or moved are now exposed too. Why is this? I posted a bug report HERE as the only other one was for linux.
  20. I can sort of understand them moving the origin end out, although I have never had an issue grabbing them, and that it can just be offset back in but why would you want the end you cannot even select and never will to stick out? And if this does not happen why are you asking about it? (I still need to check this as I have some very complex builds that may be affected by this) Yup I 'invented' this trick, it's best to use thermometer parts as they are almost hidden by the strut end. I'm off to see what damage this has caused.
  21. OK here's some pics of my take on a micro elec plane. The bearing is made from cubic struts with an antenna that spins inside them. Quite smooth, I would say it 'hums', my way of saying its not 100 per cent smooth. Oh and no decoupler here! The spinning parts are attached to a docking port. These things a nice fun distraction from my other builds. I tried yours @klond and the RCS block with thermometers was definitely smoother.
  22. Hey man, I have just made a working 1 reaction wheel electric plane using a totally different bearing design. How fast did you get that up to with a kerbal?
  23. Been playing with electric prop bearings today. No idea if it will lead to anything though! I seem to have made a very secure tiny bearing. I have yet to manage to make it break which is cool!
