  1. A closed fairing would look ace for that man! You can connect the upper stage to something inside the fairing or a tiny decoupler just above it. And if you need any help with anything I'm happy to be of service, just PM the craft file if you do.
  2. Hmm, downloaded from OP but no toolbar icon.. Latest KSP version.
  3. Why would you want to hide struts? Is it an option or an always hide thing? Also, Iv'e installed it but how do I open it in the editor??
  4. Also, dude, do not use those large decouplers. Ever. I don't know if you have ever looked at any of my craft but you will see that I never use anything other than the two smallest decouplers. even with a tonne of struts the connection of the largest decoupler is super flexible. Use a tiny one and use struts in a triangle shape. 4-8 will be fine and other folks have said 'I don't want to use small decouplers as they require more struts to hold'. This is total garbage. Not only are the tiny ones all you need for strength, they save a HUGE ammount of space in a build. Just look how much is taken up on your inter-stage by the two large decouplers. Every one of the stages in this rocket are held by tiny decouplers:
  5. Do yourself a favor and download editor extensions redux building mod. You can have a much higher symmetry level. It just makes basic tasks quicker. It is far from being a cheat mod as it does not help with creativity and more complex craft, it is mainly a time saving device.
  6. And double save any craft you spent precious time on building! Just name one 'nameofcraft 2'.
  7. Damn you for posting this first! LOL though, good shout old boy.
  8. First time I've seen someone surround the RCS units with thermos though, nice. Yeah Duna is a wonderful place to visit and build craft for. It's easier to get to than Mun so with the right manoeuvres you won't have any trouble getting there, I'm on my way there now, curiosity cruise stage is on the way, I'm making a video for the release of it. Damn I love seeing that red ball emerge from the darkness! I will show this thread to some more people but as I don't think it's something most people can build so it won't be as popular as big prop bearings are. I would love to send this to laythe though. *hatches evil plan ;-)
  9. I missed this, the scale of it is fun! It does look like a quick easy build though.
  10. Well, you did me proud! You made it your own with creativity, keep it up! And yes, happy day to give thanks to you too mate.
  11. I like it! It reminds me of some rovers I've made in the past. Nice work dude. :-)
  12. Well hot damn dude, you did it again. This is more impressive than the large car you made. The tiny turboprop is staggering. Dude, you really should send this to @SQUAD as an example of how we have used parts as bearings, seeing as there are so many variations in there. Nice variation of the thermo hinge dude! For confined space the horizontal thermos and antenna is still more compact though for doors and teeny tiny cargo bays. (I'm trying to add one to my X-37b). I will do some tests using the RCS port though. Did you see @sgt_flyer's amazing stock canadarm for a space shuttle he made using the roundness of the linear ports? Check it out! I used to do that rotation offset trick before no offsets. I can understand you not wanting to use it, it's not really needed for smaller stuff but on higher part count craft it removes the need for so many cubic struts. This is part of the reason you are so awesome. Keep up the amazing work dude, you make the best mechanical stuff I have seen so far. Have you ever made other stuff?
  13. Nah.. No where near the hardest thing. It's just a case of TWR at launch and dv. It seems hard because there is no stock dv readout. An Eve ascent craft is a doddle to make. They are just suuper ugly and peeps find it hard to launch them from Kerbin for some reason. I am in the process of thinking about one day maybe considering making a 'real life' looking Eve ascent rocket.
  14. For the love of Jeb @SQUAD why is this not a thing??
  15. So make it better! Seriously, testing turboprops/elec props is so easy as it's all done on the pad and strip. Just try different approaches man. Experiment and see what does and what does not work. Tweak it, millimeter by millimeter, be persistent and thorough, don't ever give up until its perfect.
  16. Has anyone visited the Flying Tiger entertainment website recently? It might be my browser but all there is there is a home screen with the words 'Kerbal space program is out on consoles!' with a video below. I cannot select any other page on the site? Can anyone confirm this?
  17. You haven't been looking hard enough! There are a huge number of ways people have made bearings in KSP. Yup, an issue to be sure. The docking port would have to be on the rotational part most likely so it can move away enough from the other port to reactivate the docking mechanism.
