  1. KVV is nice an all but seeing craft in 'service' is just a good if not as neat and tidy looking.
  2. If memory serves, you have done a speaking video before. You had an excellent speaking voice dude, and it was a pleasure to watch so if you feel unsure, don't be!
  3. If I may interject, Cupcakes craft are super simple by design and therefore a breeze to recreate. If you want to know what part connects to what you should download it, open the craft file and hover the mouse over the parts. Parts connected to the one you are mousing over will be highlighted too. Also remember that Cupcake uses the excellent Editor extensions redux mod which gives you more control over parts and placement in the editor. Give it a go! That is probably why you are having trouble recreating them. I will of course allow the man himself to show you exactly how he made it.
  4. Oh yes. The gold probes fit the look but are too easy. You can't fit anything in the descent stage. I chose to forgo the gold colour for a two tone appearance that still gave the feeling of the colours of the LEM but allowed for things in the descent stage. There really is only one good panel for making small, kerbal scale craft and that is the solar panel. Have a tinker though. Make a few test versions, that's what I did/do. Try many different approaches at the same time. It allows for a very fast evolution of the build.
  5. Then you are most of the way there. Once you know how to make bearings in KSP the rest is just trail an error. Download one of @Azimechs craft as he has spent the most time on them. You have to have jets blowing onto parts around the bearing to spin it around. After that you can refine the design to get more speed out of it. It's a nice easy, relaxing project as all the testing is done on the landing strip with only a few things that can go wrong, look how many people have managed it! You can do it too, just don't give up!
  6. Take your time! The little one I made took about two weeks of work.
  7. Good job! They have a nice cartoony look about them. If I was into mods and Kerbal warfare I would give this a go!
  8. Using a jet to get out of Kerbin atmos is a great way to limit overall craft weight. If you are into that kind of thing that is.
  9. I just made that new fairing body to it, the rest of the CSM is all you dude. This was an absolute pleasure to help with man, I am super happy with the petal fairing release! And a useful note to rocket builders, radiators cause a lot of drag so If you find your rocket flipping and you are using radiators high up, that is most likely the cause. She really is a glorious rocket dude, nice work on it.
  10. After a week of silly long hours at work I have begun work on the Ares V again. Making a multi-tank launcher look good is hard.. The core stage is easy its the second stage and fairing that is tricky. I have got a good balance between scale and looks now though I think. It's hard to keep the lines clean though. I am concerned by its lifting capabilities.. The two landers are very heavy and I have only tested the core stage with boosters. I am using a direct copy of the booster cluster on my Ares 1 and I don't really want to have to redesign the boosters.. The scale is ace though, it fits perfectly with the aeroshells and MTV parts in the fairing. The only thing that is out of scale is the propulsion stage and the lander aeroshells. I am not too bothered by that though as I didn't want the landers to be too small. Looking at the real proposed landers they where HUGE! And it's just not practical to scale everything else from those. I'm not sure if anyone who follows this thread remembers but I mentioned before I made three sets of aeroshells for the two landers. One from the stock procedural fairings and two from radiators. During intial testing the stock procedural fairings are far far too slippery to slow you down during aerobraking at Duna so you end up having to add chutes or air brakes to it which is crappy.. Luckily using the radiators provides plenty of drag and they can be properly areobraked. The first one I made is complex with at least three parts to it but it's wide. It fits perfectly with the Ares V I am making though but is out of scale with the propulsion stage. I made another radiator fairing that is narrower (you have no idea how much work was involved..) So it fitted better with the propulsion stage but even still it was slightly out of scale as my two landers are so big. They where also much simpler, read, less cool, , So I am happy to be using the larger more complex aero shells. I just have to make sure I have my latest version of the landers inside them! It's hard to keep track of all the craft variations. I am also going to release the lander skeletons as they are fantastic and can be used (repacked, re-purposed) for many other missions and cargos. I think I might just release the whole save file with all craft variations and subassemblies so you guys can reall get your hands dirty pulling everything apart. Next part is flight tests of the Ares V and then my first orbital construction of the MTV. Both landers are already certified for EDL and ascent. Wish me luck!
  11. I am off monday and tuesday coming so I may be able to drop by soon!
  12. What time zone dude? I'm GMT. I'm at work till about 8pm GMT.
  13. Errr, what? I see no issue here. The sun is low in the sky as it is morning so the shadows are long.
  14. I would have watched had it not been 2:00am I had not been in a deep sleep. I will try to make it next time man.
  15. Sadly the thermos and antenna do not have rigid attachment so it would not help my design. yours it might though! It looks quite stable from the video man. I just need to get my links perfectly lined up so a lot of work to do and it's just a silly side project so it wont be finished for a while.
  16. Yup as it should be. I discovered that is the minimum number of parts needed for a smooth 360 rotation, as seen in my old thread: Did you see my tank track vid? Made when I was using thermos and ant engines but now I use antennas the system is basically the same but more compact.
  17. It was great to be there mate. And equally so to get those bugs fixed! The ocean floor needs some love.
  18. This was premature, a bit.. I am seeing a bug I have never seen before.. Anyone ever had a bug when you place a strut or fuel line and when you click again to place the other end it picks up the part you click on? It's absolutely maddening.. As to keep scale of the Ares V I am having to use multiple orange tanks and multiple bundles of SRBs and I know the game does not like symmetry on symmetry so it may be due to that. I had to use auto struts to hold the SRB bundles to the core stage because of this.. I am using EER which may also be casing it.
  19. Yup, 1.DTV Fore section 2.DTV midship section 3.DTV propulsion section 4.Ascent lander aeroshell 5.Ascent lander propulsion stage 6.Hab lander aeroshell 7.Hab lander propulsion stage The exact number of launches that the real Ares V or CLV would have flown if constellation had gone ahead.
  20. lol! Yeah I can see what you mean and without actually seeing your craft up close it is very hard to know for sure. The thermo hinges are very sensitive to force. As I have said a few times before I made them simply so I could make small detailed craft with custom doors/ramps/cargo bays and for that they are perfect! Anything else is a massive bonus so I am always happy to see people taking them further. I am still trying to get my tank tracks to work with them..
